R'hyn makes a request of Kymberli.

Kymberli scales the neatly cut stone steps from the entrance below.

R'hyn's perched on one of the frontmost benches, his knees drawn up so that his feet can rest upon the railings that form a barrier between galleries and sands. He's watching the two queens, and Arisvath, the latter of whom is rearranging eggs under Niaryth's watchful gaze, consideringly.

Kymberli simply meanders on in, instantly going to the edge of the railings to look down at the eggs upon the Sands. Pausing for a moment, a smile flits over her face, and she straightens up, only then noticing R'hyn. New Weyrleader. Well. "Good day, sir, " she begins pleasantly. "I'd like to congratulate you on your----and Arisvath's----recent triumph." Pause. "I'm Kymberli, green Chrysanth's rider. Not sure if we've met or not. The eggs are beautiful, by the way." The woman gives him a fleeting smile and then directs her gaze back out toward the sands for a moment or two.

R'hyn hesitates, his face taking on a lovely shade of blush-red -- as his reputation would insist is not in the least bit unusual. "You're in my wing," he remarks, quietly, nodding his head. "We've not talked, but-- uh, you did good work, as Weyrsecond, I believe." He glances back at the sands, as if this will clear his ever-burning face. "Uh, yes. They are."

Now it's her turn to blush. "Oh, um, thank you, sir. I'm glad I did, and glad I was able to help the Weyr during those---times." Kym, being the sometimes-flustered person she is, naturally forgot that she was in the Weyrleader's wing for a moment. She's so used to having Shiae as Wingleader. She carefully takes a seat a small distance away from R'hyn, so as not to sit directly next to him. There. Good distance.

Not a truly difficult mistake to make: R'hyn's fairly invisible, when he can be, and Shiae's got so much more experience... "Uh, Kymberli?" he continues, clearing his throat nervously.

Kymberli stands up, stepping back a few paces for good measure. "Sir? Was I sitting in the wrong place or something?" She has this thing about not wanting to provoke people---well, except maybe during Chry's more flighty days.

R'hyn shakes his head-- as quickly as he can, and flushes. "No, no, no, sit down, I'm sorry. I, uh, need to ask you something. A favour, even."

Kymberli sits back down, fixing her attention upon him politely. "A favor, sir? What can I do for you?" The greenrider shifts just a tiny bit, casting a look bowl-wards before giving her attention back to the Weyrleader.

R'hyn's own gaze flicks back towards Arisvath on the sands between each word, as if he's taking strength from the bronze's presence - or getting the equivalent of cue-cards. "It's, uh, been a long time since I had to lead drills and things," he murmurs, speaking quickly. "I was Wingleader, once, a few turns ago, but, I-- would you be willing to lead some of them? I know you haven't done much of that, yet, because Shiae had you working on hidework, mostly, but do you think you could handle it?"

Kymberli is silent for a moment. This was the /least/ thing she had been expecting. "Lead----drills? Well, I have very little experience in that sort of thing, but I'm pretty sure that with proper training---and first-hand experience, I think I can learn."

R'hyn's nod becomes enthusiastic, and he even smiles. "Wonderful, wonderful. Just for a few months, mind, to give Shiae a little bit of a break from it, and to let me learn what I'm doing." There isn't much sense in that, and R'hyn seems to know it, but be blusters on regardless. "Thank you."

Kymberli bows her head slightly. "You're welcome, sir. I'm really glad to do what I can for the Weyr. Then again, part of it may also be Chrysanth's enthusiasm---sometimes I'm not sure which part of me is which."

R'hyn smiles somewhat tentatively, nodding his head. "That's good, though, that you have that enthisiasm. It's what the weyr needs. It's important. You, uh, enjoyed being Weyrsecond?"

Kymberli looks a bit surprised at this question, but grins nonetheless. Who could not enjoy it, bar the hidework? "Yes, sir, yes I did, with the exception of the hidework." Grin. "I enjoyed being able to assist in a way that I felt could better facilitate Ista while I was in the position."

"Good," says R'hyn, quickly, evidently pleased. "That's very good. Have you, uh, thought about wings at all? I mean, you weren't in my wing to begin with-- would you rather go back to Z'vind's? Er, I mean, not right away, but..."

Kymberli tilts her head curiously to the side, picking out the coherent parts of R'hyn's speech. "Quite frankly, sir, it doesn't really matter where I am. I'd enjoy serving under anyone, and working with anyone." Anyone except certain 'Reachian blueriders.

R'hyn nods, turning his gaze back to the sands to watch the queens and bronzes, face set into a somewhat thoughtful expression. "Ah, all right. Um. Thank you. I, uh, better go now." He rises from his seat, already trotting off towards the stairway.

You follow the neatly cut stone steps back down to the entrance of the Hatching grounds.
