You head out to the bowl.
Kiyna spins her way from the Caverns her pigtailed braided hair swinging too and fro as she weaves amoungst the few other early risers. A basket echingly empty sits on her hip bending with the force of her grip to keep it there. Emerald gaze sweeping the courtyard with her lips quirked in an odd half-whistle "Oh Shiva!" she calls and that's when you notice the rather large yellowish canine loping towards her with a purty tongue lolling out the side of her mouth
Relian's footsteps carry him from the caverns with far less enthusiasm than Kiyna's; his emergence takes place several moments later, the distance clearly separating the two - he's a man obeying his own agenda. "Yours?" he asks, his eyes flickering towards the canine, his head tilted. "Kinda cute."
Kaslarna sits in a corner of the bowl, seated on a purple blanket and with another wrapped around her shoulder. Glow basket is set near her, and Kaslarna is intently working away on something, with occasional scraping sounds issuing from her direction. "It curves this way, and that." she mutters to herself. before loking up startled at the voices, item she is working on quickly shoved behind her back.
Kiyna turns back towards Relian at the sound of his voice and nods peering into the darkness "Yup she's mine, not too friendly really but her names Shiva." a pat to the canines head and that all too much used command of stand down. The glow off in the corner of the bowl has her off at a skip to investigate the little tune hummed under her breath something popular from the last time she'd heard the Harper's.
"Shiva. Nice." Relian is entirely supportive of the animal, although he can't see it entirely clearly, through the darkness, regarding it with as much diligence as he can. "Who's that over there?" he wonders, Kaslarna's work, and words, catching his ears - atuned to sound, thanks to his limited sight. He wanders away from the light of the caverns, stuffing his hands nonchalantly into his pockets.
Kaslarna tilts the glowbasket, trying to see who's in her immediate area. She knows that there are at least two, and she thinks that she knows one. "Kiyna?" she asks ramdomly, seeing if she's guessed right. Object that she was working on is pushing under blanket around her shoulders, scrapings are brushed away and belt knife rehing on her belt as Kaslarna attempts to look innocent.
Kiyna plops down right next to Kaslarna more or less springing into the area "Yup definately me! Whatcha doin here anyway?" Relian gets a wave at his Shiva Nice comment "Really? She is a sweetheart just really into making sure I'm protected against odd things that I'd never think of like trundlebugs sometimes or just people I talk to" nose wrinkles and she commands her canine to a down and stay positino on hand going to rest on the canines ruff "So any ya'll have a better reason to not sleep other than I like gathering greens?" basket is held up with a giggle
Relian grins cheerfully towards Kiyna, and then towards Shiva, affirming his statement with his bright nod - half visible, perhaps, through the darkness. "Relian," he supplies, in response to Kaslarna, his footsteps carrying him towards both. "Couldn't sleep. Don't know why. I imagine it's just one of those things - too hot, perhaps." No hotter than usual, however.
"Kaslarna." Kas responds, in case Relian doesn't know who she is. "I just came out for some peace and quiet, and some thinking time." Kaslarna explains her prescense at this time of night, with only a slight smile. It is after all, most of the truth. She straightens her cloak/blanket, hiding the mystery item even more. "Gathering greens? This early? Why?"
Kiyna shrugs fingering the edges of the basket "I'm always up this early since I hardly ever sleep so doing chores when there's not so many people out is a good idea I figured." lips purse as she idly pats her canine companion "I think Squaln isn't ever going to give back the pillow I threw at him the other day though. He just sorta took it in and slept on it the cheat." odd change of conversation? Her player is asleep and odd yes
"Good time for thinking," agrees Relian, adding belatedly, "You don't mind our interruption, then?" Minorly concerned, his face takes upon a moue of thought - hesitance. "You don't sleep, Kiyna? Is that healthy?" And then, chuckling, "Squaln...mmm. I won't say more."
"I don't mind the interuption." Kaslarna says with a smile. "I had about thought myself out for the morning." At the mention of Squaln, Kaslarna grins. "You been having pillow fights then?" she asks Kiyna, laughter just about stiffled.
Kiyna shakes her head braid flopping against her neck "Nope not really me and Zella were just trying to wake him up so I threw it at him and he just slept with it" a roll of her eyes here though it's probably not seen "I /do/ sleep just not for more than a few hours at a time. Usually it's not that bad and sometimes like on a rest day I'll just sleep as much as I can. Otherwise I'm just afraid I'll miss too much by sleepin and I've always only done with a little it's just me."
Relian's face shows visible relief, should one be able to see it, as his hands are stuffed deeper into his pockets - a little finger sticking out in lazy nonchalance. "Ah," says he, nodding towards Kiyna. "Each to their own, I suppose. Me, I can't sleep during the day - not even short naps. At home, people we're always doing that, in the heat of the afternoon, but not I."
"I can sleep mostly anytime." Kaslarna says, "But back home I used to be a night bird, mostly people never saw me in the day." she shrugs. "Peraps I'm just strange." Braided ribbons are pushed back as they fall forward.
Kiyna pushes the basket off to the side legs getting tucked indian style in front of her "I'm usually a night person too, has to do with seeing the stars but being on the ship we had to be up so I just made due with less sleep. Klah is a wonderful friend you know keeping you active when you think you'll be completely zonked"
N'ano walks nonchalantly in from the Ground Weyrs.
"Klah," decides Relian, sagely, "Must be both a great things, and a cursed thing. Don't you...feel at all dependent upon it? For the boost it gives? That can't really be healthy." His thoughts are peculiarly focused for such an hour, or perhaps just rambled, and in a semblance of order. "Perhaps we're all strange."
"G'mornin' sunshines!" N'ano greets as he emerges from the ground weyr entrance "Ya'll up early, eh?" As if it weren't obvious. Steping out entirely, he stretches his arms above his head before crossing his arms over one another in a body huddle against the cool morning air.
Kiyna frowns now eyes moving towards Relian "You know maybe I am a bit dependant on it but only in the mornings. The rest of the time I drink juice or water cause it's better for you if you'll be working. Especially outside work dehydratoin is a horrible thing" N'ano gets a quirked brow from the little niche in the bowl the three candidates are at Kiyna and Kas are sitting mostly and I'm not sure about Relian but he's over there maybe hovering?
Relian is hovering, yes.
Beamkles. Thank you
"Klah is useful, and strange is good." Kaslarna says cheerfully to Kiyna and Relian, before waving at N'ano as he emerges. Kaslarna flips the blanket round her shoulders more tightly. "Been thinking." she explains her prescence to N'ano.
Relian eyes N'ano somewhat warily, but greets, somberly, "Good morning. I couldn't sleep." Explanation made, he shifts his stance back towards the other two candidates, noting, "I think I'm going to try and go off klah, for a while, and see what happens. If it makes a difference." If he finds he desperately needs it, or not.
"Klah... now there's somethin' to ponder," N'ano grins, chin-nodding towards the caverns "Though with all of m'luck, there ain't none left... 'cause there usually isn't. I swear someone hoards it all... like one of 'em greenies... no wonder they're always bouncin' off the walls!"
Kiyna holds up the basket towards N'ano "I'm going ot gather greens here in a bit but it's still real early so sitting and talking isn't a bad thing right?" see right right? Relian gets looked at with horror "No klah? You'll have a bad time of it I think. A shipmate of mine became rather rabid when he went off of it." a sage nod there just cause I can put Sage in there. N'ano gets a giggle "Greenies are scary or at least some of them. Oh and Relian maybe wait until after the hatching?"
"Go off klah? Thats a fairly good idea Relian." Kaslarna notes. "I'm on juice at the moment, but at Reaches I could never get enough of klah. Probably because its so much warmer here than back there." N'ano is eyed briefly at his hoarding comment and Kaslarna hisses to the other candies "That seems kinda likely, doesn't it?"
"Nah," N'ano retorts, shaking his head "They ain't scary once you get to know them--or else they are... and for the rest of your life. I've gotten used to them, though I was completely biased against them 'fore the hatchin' 'cause I had only met up with a few--all of which tortured me on end... said I hated every single one of 'em... but then I impressed and a bunch of my clutchmates impressed to green... and well, I've gotten used to them."
"After the hatching," notes Relian, thoughtfully, "There's a reasonable chance that I'll be lifemated, and I don't think going off klah then is an entirely good idea...I've heard that with some Weyrlingmasters you have to be up at dawn." This particular venture, thismorning, doesn't count. "We should go it together, Kas," offers the young man, grinning. "Although I suppose you already have, to an extent." N'ano's comments are met thoughtfully: "Scary thought, that a fourth of our candidate class will ride green, or close to it." Scary, indeed.
Kiyna shrugs now eyeing the bronzer "I imagine so it's just Kaith that scares me most of the time though and I even like Nao and Lib" see smirk here and Kaslarna gets a tickle or poke "Maybe so hoarding isn't so hard and maybe I'll cut down on the klah can't stop drinking it though or I'd totally mess up my routine so far and I'll just leave it intact till after the hatching. After all we've only got so much time left and all. Oh that is a factor there Relian either way I'm keeping my klah" ha yes don't try to take it she'll go crazy you see rubber walls and all that good stuff
"I'll stick it as long as you do Relian?" Kaslarna takes up the challenge with a smile "You up for that?" She sidles away from Kiyna's prod and attempts to prod back. "What was that for?" she asks, before switching her attention back to Relian. "Up at dawn? Oh."
N'ano sighs, backstepping towards the ground weyrs once again "Ah well--I better go get Hyti up... she had somethin' 'portant to do this mornin' and I don't want her to get 'hind or anythin'. I'll see you guys 'round--and hey, don't go gettin' into any trouble, y'hear? And keep it down... y'don't want any of 'em older riders to start whippersnappin' ya or whatnot," he grins, tossing a wave over his shoulder as he heads back.
N'ano walks nonchalantly to the Ground Weyrs.
Relian grins broadly towards Kaslarna, outstretching his hand: "It's a deal. Let's see how long we manage." Bets will be in for no more than a few days, but Relian is determined. "Your choice, Kiyna. I won't deprive you, certainly." More ruefully once more, he nods. "Up at dawn, caring for baby dragons at odd hours of the night...We may *need* klah, then."
Kiyna snickers bobbing her head "Definately will probably and I'll just stick with it. Hard to break a wonderful partnership and that's what me and klah are." The deal passed gets a grin "I'll be watchin you two though just to see how long you can hold out without going crazy or something" and she's sure this will happen mind you so she'll have spys around
Kaslarna accepts the proffered hand. "Lets see." she nods, then grins "It'll be easy if we just think what the other candies could have put into it." She eyes Kiyna. "I don't think that we'll go crazy, though we might /drive/ a few people crazy." and Kas has to stifle what sounds like an evil cackle.
"Laxatives," cites Relian, with a visible shudder. "That's a thought bad enough to turn me off of it." Grinning, he adds, amused: "Oh, that's right. Besides, who wants to be sane? It's more fun to drive other people up the weyr-wall!" His fingers are dug out of his pockets, left to hang down by his sides, with his arms. "We'll have to see, I suppose."
Kiyna eyes them both as if they're crazy already and hops up grabbing her basket a look towards the east "Well I'd better get going mind you want to get some greens gathered before too much longer. It was nice talking to you both" a nod as she turns calling Shiva to heel and bounding off with the energy of a five turn old. Maybe now we know why getting rid of klah would scare her she's likely about 95% klah in her body yup she's perky odd and her player has to idle.
