17-10-01: Introductions

Relian twists his finger through his hair, curling the wooly locks about the digit, as if using it as a focus, his eyes lost into thought, head tipped up to the side. In front of him, at the long table he has set himself at, a half empty plate of mushy, gooey legumes - cold - sits, along with a half empty beaker of water.

N'ano wanders in, quite the satisfied individual judging from his happy smirk and lack of lag in which he carries his body--unlike himself on a normal day at this current hour, after sweeps. Upon passing by several long tables, Relian's is caught by his attention, mainly drawn by the legumes on his plate. Shuffling over, he eyes the empty platter with only a mere crumb left on the food table, and then the young man's plate. "Y'all gonna eat those?" If not, /he/ will!

Head raises, eyes blink, and Relian, the wordness idiot - questionable, but possible - pushes the plate towards N'ano without so much as a tilt of his head. Finally, as if suddenly realising that this particular act might need a cojoined statement, he adds, "They might be a bit cold, but you're certainly welcome to them - er, Rider." This, in turn, is joined with a somewhat hesitant smile, Relian again nodding his head.

"N'ano," said rider states quickly before retrieving the plate into his own grasp, offering a head-nod in recognition "Thanks!" He was a deprived child, more than likely. Shuffling to the closest chair, he sets the plate down before pulling and twisting the chair around "Y'mind if I sit here?"

Relian's eyes flicker towards his glass, which he grasps hold of, raising it towards his lips. "Relian," is his introduction, another tilt of the head made, whilst he takes a sip. Swallowing, the glass is placed back down upon the table, his hands brought to rest in front of him. "Oh, go ahead. Not saved for anyone in particular, I do assure you."

Well, whether he was granted permission or not, N'ano's already sitting down and munching happily on the nice 'n cold legumes. Yum. After a few bites and a swat at his mouth to wipe it, he nods without much purpose behind it "Y'new or somethin'? I ain't seen ya 'fore..."

"Newish," responds Relian, wry smile plastering itself upon his lips as he leans back in his chair, the wooden legs scraping against the floor beneath. "I've been here since Spring began, which feels like a long time, for me, but probably isn't. From Black Rock River Hold, down south."

"Spring, eh?" Shards, that don't mean nothin' to me... I mean, the seasons are all 'bout the same here--well, summer's a bit warmer, but still. I lose track easily," N'ano grins, giving an idle hand gesture out towards the bowl. "In fact, what /is/ it now?"

Taylias walks in from the Southeastern Bowl.

"Spring," repeats Relian. "It's not much different at home, either, but we keep count, nonetheless." He sports a broad smile, another sip taken from his water. "So I've been here not even a full season. A month and a half, maybe."

"Aye... k." That at least gives N'ano a brief estimate. "Y'stayin' here long? Or are ya just one of 'em visitin' folks..." he questions, quirking a brow as he feeds a few legumes into his mouth. Taylias' entrance is acknowledged with a brief nod before his attention returns towards the other present.

Peek? Taylias' head peers into the living cavern slowly, dark hair falling over a shoulder for a few moments as his gaze wanders, taking in what he sees. Satisfied, he flips the errant locks back, and strides in, grin playing out across his features. Oh looky, people! A hand lifts slightly, grin never wavering. "'Ello there!"

Relian shrugs, his shoulders contracting in thoughtless comment. "As long as it takes. I'm here for research purposes." His eyes light, his posture gaining a certain straightness, as he continues with enthusiasm. "I'm making our family tree, and a relative of mine disappeared this way, turns and turns ago. So I'm attempting to find record of him." His head turns at Taylias' greeting, smile short but soft, "Same to you."

N'ano wrinkles his nose "Research purposes? Okaaay..." Certainly not the response he's used to. Ah, but as the explanation is given, N'ano's head bobs accordingly "Uh--I see... well, g'luck to ya!" Attention is once again brought to face Taylias, with whom he offers a half-salute "Join us?" Yes yes, introductions all around "I'm N'ano--y'new?" Just a generic question to those he's unfamiliar with.

Taylias sweeps across the cavern, plucking up a meatroll as he goes, delicately nibbling on it as he makes his way towards the other two. Pleasantly smiling, he sinks into a seat, fingers flipping back wayward bangs from his eyes. "A pleasure. I'm Taylias..and I suppose I am, or I hope to be anyway. If the Weyr can find some use for me."

Relian responds with a wry smile, evidently quite used to this particular reaction to his indulgence of choice. "Thank you. I'll certainly be trying my hardest." Response to Taylias is a grin, broad and cheerful, with which he couples a bright, "Welcome to the weyr, then, Taylias. I'm Relian."

Hannah walks with youthful grace in from the Southeastern Bowl.

"Aye... could always use a few extra hands, 'pecially since there's gonna be a search comin' up--" And speak of the devil! Well, not literally.. it's just an expression "Heya Hannah!" he calls out after motion in the corner of his eye catches his attention "That's Hannah--her dragon just went up a little while 'go..." N'ano introduces the junior weyrwoman to the others before flagging her over should she care to join them.

Hannah slips into the living caverns with one thought on her mind: a bit of cool juice to ease her parched throat. Murmuring, "G'day," to those she might recognize, her steps are single-mindedly directing her towards the juice. Hearing her name, the petite woman alters her course to go to N'ano and his group. "Hello," she murmurs, a tad shyly.

Taylias smiles, lashes briefly fluttering in Relian's direction. "Well thank you, Relian, and well met." Grin. "Oh?" Interest perks, brows lifting slightly at N'ano's words before his head turns, eyes taking in the entering gold rider. "Hello there!" Beam.

Relian's posture was straight, but now it's straighter. He's an idiot, but he's also now, apparently, showing his 'rank'; "Good day to you, Weyrwoman," he responds, tipping his head into - odd - a bow of sorts. "Well met. I'm Relian. -- Same to you, Taylias."

And now N'ano's kinda lacking anything to say, so he focuses all upon... the legumes, nearly gone. With a few more bites, the plate is cleaned and pushed aside. Posture slides slightly to allow one leg to prop itself up to rest against the table's edge.

"Well met," is said softly to those Hannah does not know. "Are you new to the weyr?" the goldrider inquires politely while taking her seat. Tossing one pale, white-blond braid over her shoulder, she watches the threesome with shy curiousity.

Taylias nibbles once again on the meatroll in hand, dainty little bites taken, before smiling again at the weyrwoman. "Oh, and I'm Taylias." Bangs, refusing to cooperate with their owner's wishes, once again fall into his eyes, and are left alone. "Ah, yes, I am new.."

"I am," agrees Relian with something more like warm politesse, rather than stilted formality. "Unofficial Black Rock River Hold Historian, researching disappearing family members with a vengeance." Pausing, the young men, twines his fingers between each other, adding, "Er, and new Ista resident-type."

N'ano doesn't introduce himself, seeing as she kinda already knows him, and from previous intros, the others do as well, so he sits quietly continually, eyeing the others as each speaks. He's good for that.

Hannah raises her eyebrows at Relian, "Disappearing family members?" However, she does smile at Taylias, "Nice to meet you, Telyias," she turns to include both Relian and Telyias,

"I hope you are enjoying Ista Weyr?" Nibbling on a fingernail, all this socializing is quite taxing for one who is still growing out of such shyness, she turns to N'ano, "How've you been? How are your children?" She never has been good at 'small talk'.

"See there?" Taylias points slightly at Relian with a slender finger. "I want a nice title like that. I'm just..Taylias. Not that it's a bad thing, but it lacks a certain..flare to it." Smugly, he finishes off the rest of the meatroll, fingers brushing together afterward. "Oh well I'm enjoying myself so far, of course! I havn't been here very long though.."

N'ano raises a brow, taking a moment to respond to the inquiry "Well, they're well, actually. Thanks for asking--" he grins, pausing a moment before adding "Neana's walkin' and talkin'... Ry's starting to do the same... and Nanli? Well, she was doin' well when I saw her last.

Relian's expression turns wry, as, in his enthusiasm, he attempts to explain - words spilling out far faster than normal, and with less control. "My great-great uncle departed the hold, oh, eighty turns ago, and he came this way, and no one has seen him since, so I'm looking--er, yes." He flushes, contrite. "I get a little carried away," he admits, his glance shifting towards Taylias. "I'm sure we'll come up with something. Official titleless Taylias? -- I'm enjoying Ista very much, thank you, on the whole."

Taylias rolls his eyes somewhat, tossing a smirk Relian's way. "Now that's the same thing as not having a title at all, my dear Relian. Oh well, indeed something will come up I suppose." A long lock of raven hair is absently twined about in his fingers as he thinks.

R'ave skulks broodily in from the Southeastern Bowl.

Hannah smiles and nods, before requesting some juice from a passing drudge. Usually, she waits on herself, however, the goldrider doesn't want to be rude. Waiting for her juice, she asks, "How long do you plan to stay, Relian, Teylias? I only had to stay here a short while before I fell in love with the place."

N'ano grins, chin-nodding towards Hannah "Yeah... I was supposed to only be up here helpin' with the physicals for our clutch... but well, someone I got bonded to the Weyr--by a blue sniffin' me out and then a bronze buttin' into my mind," he chuckles, rolling a shoulder "Not that I'm regrettin' it or anythin'... kinda glad, actually. I love it here."

Relian winks in response to Taylias, his hands smoothed out upon the edge of the table. "It will, I'm sure. Just wait it out, or something." He gives a smile, stretching his shoulders behind him. "As long as it takes to find out the information I need, Junior Weyrwoman," he responds rapidly, a shy smile stretching out upon his lips. "I admit, I'm finding myself less and less willing to return home, although I suppose we'll see what happens."

R'ave charges the caverns placidly enough, the sleeves of his too-bulky shirt folded back over strikingly pale forearms. His face is looking a little off, however, the goggles now pushed back over his head having left indiscreet scarlet marks around his eyes. "Drink, drink, drink," the Reachian bronzer mutters redudantly, as if unsure of his ablility to remember and properly address his thirst.

A grin quirks the weyrwoman's lips before she responds, "Ah, yes. After being searched three times, it took the soft voice of Dhiammarath to bind me here, but already I was loving the land." Hannah tilts her head to the side, "Still, I do so love visiting the home of my youth." Speaking of youth, she spots a rider from the very same place and offers R'ave a shy little finger waggle in greeting. "G'day."

Taylias taps a few fingers against the tabletop for a moment, a slow shrug given from slim shoulders. "Well..I actually hadn't thought about that. I'll stay as long as I'm needed I suppose." Sniff. "That is, if I can find anything that I'm needed /for/ of course. Not that it should be a problem, I hear they're always looking for help, yes?" A little smirk is sent in Relian's direction before glancing at the entering R'ave.

"So neither of you were residents here, until you Impressed?" Relian queries, interested. He runs his fingers through wooly hair, attempting to smooth the locks down into submission. A wink is made to Taylias, out of amusement, his lips traipsing into a smile. "Duties to High Reaches Weyr," he adds, rapidly, espying R'ave and his knot through the corner of his eye, turning his head.

N'ano tosses up a salute towards fellow bronzer, contributing a "'ello," to the series of greetings towards the 'reacher "What brings ya here?" he questions casually, not that he really knows the guy, but judging from his knot and lack of knowing who he is, it's a well educated guess on his origin--or well, his non-Istaness.

R'ave looks a little startled, eyeing Hannah as if she might be a hallucination. "I'm in Ista, aren't I?" His eyes glaze slightly as a glower cocks toward the bowl, nose wrinkling. "Figures. I knew I didn't recognize those dragons out there." The surly little grump finds it in himself to cock the goldrider a grin, raising a hand in rejoinder to the nearer folks en masse, a quick and awkwardly performed salute hoisted toward N'ano. "Why would we want your du-- oh. That's right. Formalities. Uh. Ditto, then, to the duties part." The bronzer resumes looking aloof. "Uh. Actually, I'm not quite sure why I'm here. A few moments ago I had Soquilith on route to the 'Reaches from Tillek... I think we got muddled up somewhere."

"I am originally from High Reaches Weyr. I was searched by Elle and her green Larisseth several times before I came to be a permanent fixture here. My mother is the senior weyrwoman up there," Hannah responds, though her attention does turn to R'ave again. He brings the potential for news from her former home as it's been a while since she last visited. However at his rather convoluted explanation of how he ended up in Ista, she frowns a bit. "Are you okay? It is a little unsafe for you to envision one weyr and end up in another.." She does give him another shy smile, "Ah, but welcome to Ista."

"Muddled?" Taylias blinks a little. Hm. Isn't that..a bad thing when going between? Yeep. Yes, he'll just keep his feet nice and firmly on the ground. Well, unless he leans back in his chair, which of course he does, tipping the front legs up off the ground comfortably. "Hm. Yes, that does seem a little unsafe.."

Relian's face colours with a blush at the response to his duties, and he sinks back down in his chair, as if attempting to make himself inconspicuous. "Oh!" he responds, to Hannah, his head nodding in understanding, although he makes no further comment. He's meanwhile boggling at R'ave; he didn't know that such a mistake was possible, evidently, and sits there, dumbly listening, instead.

Anything's possible, really "Heh... that 'minds me of a time I wound up at the Red Butte when I was tryin' to go to Gar--dunno how /that/ happened, but it did," N'ano contributes to the conversation at hand idly, leaning back slightly in his chair.

"I'm fine, Hannah. Apparently a little unsound of mind, but other than that..." R'ave's hands move to disentangle his goggles from his hair with little success. "I suppose I might've been thinking of Ista instead of the 'Reaches." His cheeks glow, making the marks 'round his cheeks and brow a little less noticable. "Soquilith just crossed some wires, I'd guess."/ Sure/, blame the dragon. "Anyhow... um. Hi."

Taylias smiles slowly. "The mind works in interesting ways like that, I suppose. Think you're thinking one thing, and end up thinking another?" And he'll stop there, before he starts comfusing himself.

Hannah nods her head slowly, still giving him a worried look. However, she does ask, almost eagerly, of news from the 'Reaches. "How is Mother? Is she well? It's been a while since I've had the time to make a visit. And soon, I'll be sands bound and will only be able to leave the weyr when someone is kind enough to take me." Turning to the others at their table, she asks of the newcomer, "Join us?"

Relian listens with apparent interest, his head tilted to the side, his eyes focusing on the table. At length, although still listening, he comments towards Taylias, "Seems very peculiar to me, although I admit, I know little about the subject. -- Good day, to you all. Unofficial titles aside, I'm still a resident, and liable to perform chores, which calling me at this present point, alas." Standing, he tilts his head towards the group, adding, "It has been a pleasure to meet you."

N'ano motions towards the opposing chair from himself "Aye... join us?" he echoes Hannah with the invite before standing himself and making the short trip towards the buffet "Anyone want anythin' while I'm up?" is called over his shoulder towards the small group as hands work to fill a plate for himself.

You go to the South Caverns.
