Keilah laughs and shakes her head as she pushes the sock basket away from her. "Oh, I would never do that," she replies as she stretches her arms. "I enjoy doing work, and I wouldn't want to use a... creature of recreation as an excuse. As for the firelizards, yup. My father had one, and a few of the harpers had some, so I'm used to being around them."
Kayla ambles in from the inner cavern.
It isn't the ubiquitous klah that Ilesyn seeks after somewhat blindly, her fingers grasping on to the handle of the pitcher, pouring into a mug almost without looking. It's cider, which she promptly burns her tongue on, wincing uncomfortably as she turns to face the cavern, and then stride towards a mostly empty table for the sake of pouring over the hot liquid. Mm-hmm.
Matiaal nods, "That's good. Means you won't try to get out of the Candidate duties like I would." A chuckle as he finishes more of the clothes. "What's your favorite color so far? From being around them, I mean? I'm curious as to what you think seems to be the best one."
Sarine ambles in from the inner cavern.
Alora shuffles back out of the kitchen, bearing yet another tray. This one is even fuller than the first, with three huge wooden bowls of fresh mixed greens in various dressings and two platters of something white. The white platters actually hold whitefish fillets in a light sauce of citron and spices. She oh-so-carefully sets this tray down, spreading the bowls and platters about. Straightening, she rubs her lower back, then fills a plate with whitefish and mixed greens.
Kayla walks in and straight for the klah pot, about to fill herself a mug when she stops, shakes her head, and then goes and fills herself a glass of water instead. Then, she goes and takes a seat by the hearth, blinking at the basket, "Where did these come from?"
Sarine walks in and looks about. She smiles and waves to anybody she recognizes, and heads further into the Living Cavern. She turns to the serving table, looking around at it for a moment before her eyes finally find the juice. She pours herself a glass before finally turning to survey the room more closely.
Keilah blinks toward the cider-drinking Ilesyn, leaning over to whisper to Matiaal, "She's lucky she didn't go for the klah." Then, returning to her upright position in her seat, she waves toward the newly entered. "G'day..." She offers a smile to Sarine as well before returning her attention to Matiaal. "Nah, I'm too good, my sister says, too well-behaved sometimes, unless I get really bored. And I don't know... I like them all, I think. They're each special in their own ways. I'll have to think about that question..." Her thought is interrupted by the incoming food, and she stands to look at the meal. "Alora, you're wonderful," she murmurs. "Is it all ready, or do we have t owait more?"
Alora carries her plate over to where Keilah and Matiaal are sitting, giving Kayla and Sarine a sunny wave as she goes. "There is more coming, but these are all the dishes I think." She glances over her shoulder to where a stream of candidates are bringing out more platters and bowls. "Dessert's not quite ready, but I think it's safe to start. Mind if I join you two here at the table?"
Matiaal just shakes his head at Keilah. "Yes, she's lucky, but Kayla's smart." Chuckle as he sees her switch for the water instead. "Oh, those? They came from a firelizard." Chuckle at his humor, nodding. He gives a wave to Kayla, Ilesyn, and Sarine. "No, no, I don't mind at all. Sit, sit." He waves a hand at a nearby seat for Alora.
Sarine heads over to the group of candidates. "Hi everyone. I hope candidate life is treating you alright. From the way some candidates talk you'd they they were being systematically tortured. Mind if I join you guys?"
Ilesyn all but misses Keilah's blink, not to mention Matiaal's wave, returning the latter of the two with a vacant nod; distraction, it seems, is found dutifully in the depths of her mug, which, as yet, hasn't been touched again since the tongue-burning first sip. Perhaps she's just listening.
Kayla smiles and laughs, shaking her head, "Actually, I already had some klah, at least a sip, this morning, before chores." She looks more closely at the eggs, "And I rather figured that, but they weren't here earlier."
"Of course not!" Keilah replies to Alora with a grin and wave of her hand as she stands. "I'll be right back. My stomach is grumbling worse than a hatchling." Sliding over toward the serving tables, she piles her plate, returning to grin at Sarine. "Everyone's welcome, harper, and I, personally, am doing well." She looks over toward Ilesyn, hmming, pondering whether to interrupt before calling, "You can join us, too, if you like!"
Matiaal waves his hand again at another chair for Sarine. "Nope. Sit, my fellow Candidate." Beam as he nods, grinning at Kayla. "Well, we all learn from mistakes, eh? He just shrugs at Ilesyn, turning his attention back to Kayla. "They're hard. Ready to hatch anytime soon."
Sarine smiles her thanks to Keilah and Matiaal before taking a seat. She looks towards the eggs that have captured attention for themselves. "So that's what they look like, I was wondering about how big they were, compared to the eggs out on the sands. " She glances at Matiaal with a smile. "So you were right, I guess, about your firelizard having eggs? What was her name again?"
Alora hooks a chair with one foot, pulling it out roughly, then drops lightly into it, settling her plate and glass of juice before her. She grins cheerily at Sarine. "Candidacy goes well enough for me, at least at the moment. It's easier than being a stablehand." She glances at the basket at Matiaal's final comment. "They're going to hatch... soon? Like tonight?"
Ilesyn responds hesitantly, Keilah's offer met with a stoney-faced lack of comprehension, as, apparently, she disentangles herself from her thoughts to accept the offer on face value. "Thank you," says she, still somewhat blankly, rising from her seat to wrap hand about mug, and move off towards the candidates, although she doesn't sit - she hovers, half leaning against the edge of table. "Oh, Faranth. Not *firelizard* eggs."
Kayla seems to peer even closer as she lowers her head a little, "Really? I've never seen a fire lizard hatch before. Is it anything like when a dragon hatches?" A glance back up, as she sips her water.
Matiaal eyes Ilesyn at her comment. "You'd probably treat the firelizard like an experiment." A shake of his head as he turns back to Alora and Sarine, smiling. "Yes. Very soon... So it's forunate you came just in the nick of time." A nod at Sarine. "They'd be very tiny compared to the eggs on the Sands. Her name's Pride. Took me some time to find them... Well, kind of, Kayla."
Keilah leans back in her seat, eating her food and taking occasional drinks, listening to the conversation about her. Hey, she's not going to interrupt much. Never know when someone might say something very intersting. "You used to be a stablehand?" she questions Alora in a conversational tone. "What was that like? Messy?" She wrinkles her nose and winks before nodding at Ilesyn. "Oh, no problem," she replies as she rocks in her seat. "And yeah, Mati has a bunch of eggs that should be hatching soon or something."
Sarine smiles. "Pride is a nice name. Though I wouldn't know how to attract a firelizard to me anyways, so I'm not sure how in the nick of time I am. Though it'll be very interesting to watch a firelizard hatching." She smiles to herself, ever the inquisitive Harper. "How do these things go Matiaal, you probably know better than any of us."
With a tilt of her head, she leans back in her chair, sipping water, "What do you do when they hatch?" Kayla's nose wrinkles a little, as she tries to figure it out.
"Probably," agrees Ilesyn promptly, Matiaal's response to her comment met easily. "Vile creatures, anyway." She finally takes another sip of her cider, nose wrinkling. "As if candidates should be allowed to Impress the things. You'll only get attached, and then feel guilty when you ignore them, should you Impress." Likely as not, she's talking to herself rather than anyone in particular.
Alora pauses in spearing fresh greens and shoveling them into her mouth long enough to grin at Keilah. She swallows, then nods. "Pretty messy, yep. The last few days are the first in /Turns/ that I haven't ended the day dusty. There hasn't been straw in my hair for candlemarks!" This is said with a tone of feigned shock, amusement dancing in her eyes. "I am from Fort Hold originally, but I've been here for quite a while before I was Searched." She glances at the basket of eggs, then back to Matiaal. "Who's going to Impress them- or are they just going to go wild?"
Matiaal chuckles at all of the questions. "Well, you try to attract them with food. Raw meat. And you've got to think loving and happy thoughts, that'll attract them as well." Skyle, his blue, comes out of *between* and takes a perch on his shoulder. "For the first sevenday, they're going to be very hungry and all they'll do is eat and sleep. Well, Alora, the firelizards decide that. Not us... if you've got them into basic training and just don't pay attention to them, they'll probably go wild. They need attention, just like children."
Kayla looks around, stretching up in her chair a little, then back, "Raw meat? I wonder if they have any in the kitchens." And with that, she gets to her feet and wanders kitchenwards, in search of fire lizard bait.
"Oh, I wouldn't neglect it," Keilah decides after listening to Ilesyn's words, before nodding. "Then again, I'm not too worried about Impressing a dragon," the former drudge adds with an chuckle. She's not saying this for pity; just with amusement. She laughs toward Alora as she nods. "That's a task I've always been glad I didn't have to do, no offense. But then again, I don't know much about runners, though I always thought it would be interesting to learn how to ride..." Head tilted to the side, she listens to Matiaal's words, nodding to them as she eats.
Alora blinks, eyes widening a bit. "So- if they hatch now, /we/ could Impress them?" You can almost see the glow go on over her head. "There is a bunch of raw herdbeast scraps in the east corner- I just gathered them myself. I'll bring out a few bowls." She rises to follow Kayla, then grins down at Keilah. "Oh! I'll have to take you riding sometime if we get a break from chores. Runners are just amazing."
Sarine thinks about that. "It doesn't seem hard to think of happy thoughts, afterall a firelizare hatching is a happy occassion, right?" She grins at Keilah. "At least you don't have to worry about Pride sitting on you, right Keilah?" She turns to Matiaal. "And you said you had to search for them, was she protecting them the way Leyrith protects her eggs?"
Alora disappears into the kitchen.
"You would," retorts Ilesyn, catching Keilah's words. "Weyrlings have very little time, or so I'm told. You'd have to, unless you wanted to neglect your dragon." She gives a disdainful snort towards the eggs, rather focusing her attention upon her cider once again, taking a solid sip.
Matiaal nods at Alora. "Yes, you all can. Right, Sarine." A chuckle. "Most greens don't protect their eggs, but that's wild ones. Pride did for a while since I had told her to wait for me. She won't try to protect them now since I'm with her eggs." That's all he'll say. "Ilesyn, do you /ever/ lighten up? They'll have enough time to form a solid relationship with the firelizards before they have a chance to Impress a dragon..." A shake of his head at the Mindhealer. "Well, hurry up with the meat."
Kayla comes back out holding several bowls of meat scraps, cradles in the crook of her arms and held in hands. These, she sets down near the basket, keeping one for herself. Then, holding the bowl, she sits down in front of her chair and looks at the basket, as if willing the eggs to start hatching _now_.
Urban Hero Egg begins to rock a little, knocking some of the sand off its shell. Then it settles down, nobody saw it rock, nope. It's innocent...
"Please do," Keilah replies, bouncing in her seat nearly, at Alora's words. She could learn to ride a runner, she's going to learn how to ride a gitar, she's learned the do's and don't's of fashion, and she could Impress a firelizard! Despite the gold spitting herdbeast at her head, Fort is the best place on Pern, in this drudge's opinion. "And if you ever need anything in return, Alora, I'll be happy to oblige, for getting to ride a runner." She turns to Sarine with a laugh. "She almost sat on Andariel! But yes, if Pride sits on me, I'd be much more grateful that it wasn't the gold." She bites her lip at Ilesyn's words as she thinks. "Well, I guess... I'll just-- Is there such a thing as a firelizard-sitter? Like a nanny? I could have someone watch over my firelizard if I Impress or something," she decides as she smiles toward Kayla and the meat.
Ilesyn shakes her head, a grimace expressed upon her features as she affirms Matiaal's statement: "No, I don't. It's very serious." Well, that's taking it too far, and she knows it. "It isn't the forming of a relationship - it's the keeping up with them. For all you know, the eggs could hatch in a sevenday, and the firelizards would still be babies." Keilah's comment earns a droll laugh, "Hardly." And she is *not* volunteering.
Sarine nods, absorbing Matiaal's the information and turning to look at the eggs again. "I didn't know that they had such distinctive colors, like the other eggs. Why are they like that, do you think? I mean, you'd think they'd all be similar because they're in the same dragon or firelizard, and laid the same way and everything..." She trails off as she ponders this. She turns again to Matiaal with a question. "What happens once you feed one of the firelizards?"
Kayla shakes her head a little, then notices the egg rocking, for its brief moment, "Ooooo! One just moved, did you see it, did you see it?" Nope, she's not acting all self-possessed now, not in the least.
Alora follows Kayla, holding a bunch of little bowls of scraps herself. My, but she's balancing well. She sets a few down beside the basket, keeping one for herself and one for Keilah. "I will be sure to find you if we have a chance to ride then. And here's some meat for you." She grins, handing over a bowl, then drops back into her seat, sliding closer to the basket.
Matiaal just shakes his head, rolling his eyes at Ileysn, refraining from comment. His attention turns to Sarine. "They do... I don't really know why, but they just do. Once you feed a firelizard and look into its eyes, then it's yours. For life." Ashrug, grinning at Kayla. "Maybe..."
Dream Apartment Egg starts to rock wildly and violently, knocking all of the sand off its top, even rolling around a bit, but then just as suddenly as it had started, it stops. Hopefully nobody saw it.
Keilah clicks her tongue against her teeth at Ilesyn's words. She's set in her mind that, like Sarine and Mina, Ilesyn probably knows everything about everything, so she nods and sighs. "Oh, well, because that would be so helpful..." she murmurs before returning to her dinner. At Kayla's words, she shakes her head. "Be careful if they are, Kay, and you Impress, because Ilesyn says that it might be difficult if you Impress a dragon, too." Yes, 'Ilesyn says...' could be her newly-adopted phrase. However, she does still take some of the meat from Alora, offering a "Thanks!" as she sets it on the table a bit away from her. "And yeah, maybe someday we'll both be done with chores and have time to ride..." She listens to Matiaal's words, glancing to the eggs out of the corner of her eyes and biting her lip.
Sarine nods. "Though not for life if you don't treat him or her right, Ilesyn has a point there." She nods to the healer. "What about the meat pieces, are they small enough or will the hatchlings choke?" She stands up briefly to retrieve one of the bowls, taking it back to her seat and looking at the contents to find this out for herself." She was too busy examining the meat before her to notice the egg moving.
Kayla's eyes get even wider, "I _know_ I saw that one move. I think they _are_ starting to hatch." She holds the bowl of meat even closer, hoping that the scraps are a good selection. She looks up and grins at the others, "And riding is great fun."
Ilesyn's expression somewhat resembles a smile of satisfaction, as her comments are, for perhaps the first time, taken seriously. It's without approval, of course, that she watches the candidates begin to crowd about the eggs, staying some distance away, although she's clearly within viewing range. Was that an audible snort? Ah yes, and a long sigh.
Matiaal chuckles, he had indeed caught the movement. "Looks like you were wrong, Ilesyn. They're about to hatch..." A glance at Sarine. "If they're too big, then they'll rip the meat up. Believe me, they will, but I think it'd be best if you just gave them manageable sizes."
Matiaal adds, "Give them a variety of choices too." Wink.
Urban Hero Egg starts up again, stealing all attention from the other egg, rocking more and more wildly, knocking all of the sand off it, but stops for a moment to let them admire its shell.
"I never said they wouldn't hatch now," retorts Ilesyn. "I just said that the dragon eggs could hatch sooner rather than later." She shifts her leaning position against the table, resting her rear upon the very edge - to the disgruntledness of several of those sitting at the table - as she watches.
Palia ambles in from the center bowl.
Palia has arrived.
From the direction of the bowl, a rather loud SPLAT! can be heard.
Sarine smiles at Matiaal. "That's assuming one decides to come towards me, of course." But even though she says that, she still movest he meat pieces around a bit to make sure the smaller more managable pieces are near the top. She glances up at Matiaal. "Variety?" This time she does notice the rocking eggs, and most of her attention returns to them.
"You've ridden much, too, Kayla?" Keilah asks with wide eyes and a bright smile. "There are so many things I'd love to do... I'm glad I might get to experience some of them while here." She hears Matiaal's words about Ilesyn, and her falters somewhat. The Fortian was wrong? "Well, you know, she just didn't know and all... Hatchings are always surprises." Can't have one of her back-ups be /wrong/. Then she nods at Ilesyn's words before glancing askance at the eggs.
Alora scoots her chair a bit closer, then wrinkles her nose. She stands, pushing the chair backwards out of her way and drops down into an easy crouch close to the basket. She picks through her bowl of scraps, tearing a few into what she hopes are more "manageable" pieces. She's not really listening to the converstation around her now, eyes all on the basket.
Kayla strats going through her bowl of meat, not looking away from the eggs, "I'm not worried." She blinks a little, pulling out the smallest, meatiest morsels. "Besides, a fire lizard would be a great comfort if I don't impress." She says this like that's a given.
Dragon's Castle Egg begins to rock as well, in rhythm, wriggling around on the toasty sands, but it only falls on its side, and that causes it to stop rocking.
Matiaal just shrugs. "You all try your best. Good luck." He seems to move back a little to allow others room.
Sarine blinks at seeing Matiaal leaving. "But wait, what if we have more questions..." She trails off and looks panicked for a moment, before turning to the eggs with a shrug. "Hopefully I'll figure out what I'm doing."
Matiaal shakes his head at Sarine. "I'm not leaving. I'm trying you all some room."
Urban Hero Egg rocks wildly more and more, resulting in Urban Hero Egg breaking in half partially. Robin Hatchling rests himself for a short time to regain his strength after all of that rocking and breaking. Robin Hatchling crawls out of Urban Hero Egg on unsteady legs, wings unfurling to flick egg goo over the firelizard candidates.
Robin Hatchling
Darkness and mystery enshroud this little blue like a cloak, his midnight hide speckled with a shower of stars along the length of his back. Startlingly bright against the night of his head his eyes shine like opalescent orbs of light, the hide just round them darkening to black to surround them with a bandit like mask. Atletically proportioned legs and torso stream back to a paler whip like tail which flick continuously from side to side. But eclipsing all are his wings, the darkest of night bejewelled with pinpricks of silver until he unfurls them and the night is chased away by their dawning, brighter underside.
Palia needs that room, or at least the front portion of her does. She waddles in, pregnancy seeming to agree with her for now, although quite different from the way she was nearly nine months before. She scans the interior, and not recognizing hardly anyone, just takes the time to sit down at the closest table, which also happens to house a number of people, and who amongst them, is anyone's guess.
Kayla squeals, yes squeals, with excitement and looks at the little blue fellow, "He is so beautiful!" Then, realizing that they are attracted to food, holds out a handful of meat bits, trying to make it look enticing - Which, to a hungry raw meat eater, it probably is, at least as much as the next handful of raw meat.
Sarine blinkes at the blue and watches it intently for several moments. She absently takes some of the meat into one hand, holding the bowl steady with the other. But she holds the hand near her, not sure exactly what to do. So instead of doing anything, she just watches the little hatchling. She nods to Kayla, agreeing with her description with a smile.
Matiaal grins at Palia, "Good to see you again, Palia. Looking great." A chuckle as he nods along with the others. "Yes, he's definitely an handsome firelizard..." Prides seems to swell up in him.
Alora's eyes widen a bit at the sight of the little hatchling breaking out of his shell. Grinning, she wipes a bit of goo from her arm, then holds out a piece of raw meat. She lets it dangle from her fingertips, hoping to miss getting bitten. She's quiet and thoughtful looking- maybe she's dutifully thinking "happy thoughts" at the little creature.
Matiaal grins at Palia, "Good to see you again, Palia. Looking great." A chuckle as he nods along with the others. "Yes, he's definitely an handsome firelizard..." Prides seems to swell up in him.
A'mus ambles in from the center bowl.
A'mus wanders into the Living Cavern, a semi-pleased look on his face. He spots the group gathered in one area, and strolls closer to take a look.
Robin Hatchling shakes his blue head, his eyes glancing wildly over at the strange creatures before him, then he smells something... Food. Meat. Hungry... Must have one... Robin Hatchling jumps out of the Basket, landing on the table and losing his balance as he lands, but quickly gets up and seems to head for Kayla...
Kayla sits quietly, or rather not quietly, near the hearth, holding a bowl in her lap and a handful of gobby meat bits. These are held out to the little blue hatchling. She doesn't seem to really notice anything else going on around her, at least at the moment. Seeing the blue heading her way, she squeals, again.
A'mus spies the eggs and moves a little closer, still watching.
"Fort's duties to Monaco," issues Ilesyn, catching sight of A'mus - although her expression once again turns disapproving as it's eggs he moves towards. Perched upon the edge of Palia's table, the Mindhealer sighs, watching the proceedings with a wrinkle of her nose and another sip of her cider.
Dragon's Castle Egg starts to rock more again, but quiets down again, not moving an millimeter after that. Seems it's waiting for its moment...
A'mus nods at the mention of his name, a quiet murmur of 'Monaco's duties' is heard, and A'mus leans up against the table, still quietly observing the activity around the basket.
Chartreuse had fluttered in quite awhile ago, a blur of green wings in the background as she soars up to settle on the rafters above. Or some sturdy perch from where she can watch easily. She humms loudly with encouragement, her head cocked to one side as she watches the newly hatched blue.
Sarine smiles at Kayla. "Seems you were wrong about your likelihood to impress a firelizard." She grins as she recalls Kayla's previous comments. "Congratulations." She glances over to Chartreuse as she hums, but her attention goes back to the eggs again with a few glances at the blue to see what it does now.
Alora flashes a grin up at Kayla as the little blue moves closer to her. She gives her an encouraging nod, then goes back to watching the eggs, eyes on the dark-swirled surface of the one that rocks now.
Keilah returns from getting another plate of food, watching the bustle growing in the caverns. Gotta love meal time. The raw meat still sets at her place as she watches those around her, pondering whether it's worth the 'trouble' to attempt to Impress one of the creatures.
Robin Hatchling At Kayla's squeal, the Robin Hatchling suddenly jerks back, startled by the sound, head shaking wildly, freezing. But then the scent of meat wafts his way... Meat... Deciding not to go to the loud creature, he chooses a different path... Towards the sound of humming, it's much more elgant and softer than that loud and harsh squeal...
Kayla blinks slowly, looking back at Sarine, "Well, maybe. But he will probably change his mind and pick someone else." Then, back to watching the hatchling and the unhatched eggs, smiling a bit, "I wonder if his brothers and sisters will all be so handsome?"
Palia is sitting at a table with a bunch of of people and not really paying much attention although she does glance over at A'mus as he comes in and then turns her head back to watch the people. "What's going on?" she asks raising her voice to be heard above the din of chatter.
Sarine ohs softly. "I was hoping that he'd decide to stay with you. Maybe one of the others, right?" She turns to smile at Palia. "One of Matiaal's firelizards' eggs are hatching. That blue is the first one. I almost thought he'd chosen, but not yet I guess. Do the dragon hatchlings take awhile to choose?"
Ghrae hurries into the living cavern with bright eyes and a big smile, followed shortly after by an old rider who shakes his head after the young girl. "Fort Hold's duties to Fort Weyr." She calls quite formally and then clasps her hands together at the group gathered around the basket, "Oh, is it too late then?"
Kayla tries not to look disappointed, and smiles, "Maybe." Her eyes glance after the blue, then back to the eggs, looking down at the handful and rearranging it. Maybe that's why the blue swerved away.
Matiaal smiles at Kayla and reaches an hand out to touch her shoulder. "Don't worry. There's still more..." He grins at Ghrae. "Nope, you're just in time!"
Alora glances up at Ghrae and beckons at the Headwoman. "Fort Weyr's duties to Fort Hold. And it's not too late at all. They just started." She keeps her voice pitched low, not wanting to disturb the hatching eggs, then gestures at a bowl she holds. "You can share scraps with me." Even if the woman doesn't recognize her, Alora's from Fort and she knows the Headwoman on sight.
Chartreuse simply stays where she is perched, her wings ruffling a bit along her sides as she can't possibly stay still for too long. She humms still, quieter and almost lost against the conversation.
Robin Hatchling looks deeply into Sarine's eyes with utter love and trust. And overpowering hunger.
Kayla turns and smiles at Matiaal, "Thank you. And there are, but if I don't, it's alright." She looks back at the eggs, "This is _interesting_ at least." The hand goes back to holding down its messy contents, ready for the next hatchling to notice.
Keilah giggles toward Sarine as she chews on a meatroll. "Hope you can find a flitter-sitter with things get busy," she comments with a wink as she looks toward the newly Impressed firelizard. "Yes, this is quite different," she murmurs to Kayla's words, turning in her seat to better view the eggs.
Ghrae smiles and shrugs out of her much bettered jacket, laying it over an empty chair on her way to the firelizard-hopefulls, "Oh good! I got the letter from Mati that he had a clutch, but I didn't think there was any way I'd make it in time." She beams at Alora and moves to her side, "Thank you, that's very kind. Maybe I'll even get lucky this time."
Dragon's Castle Egg takes this exact moment to rock more and more! It's the egg's time now, and it's not going to let anyone else think otherwise as it starts to roll more and more, rocking wildly and voliently, trying to get out.
Alora nods with a grin to Ghrae, setting the bowl down between them. She reaches in for another glob of meat, wrinkling her nose a bit as she situates the pices held between her fingers. The more violent rocking of the dark egg catches her attention and she leans forward a bit, watching excitedly.
Ilesyn rolls her eyes almost cheerfully, between sips of cider, as she weaves her way closer to the assembled firelizard-hopefuls, evidently finding interest in /them/, if not the firelizards themselves. Perhaps it's time for another people-study.
Palia nods. "I see," She nods towards the girl who told her about the hatching. "Thank you." She doesn't say much more, simply watches now, studying as Ilesyn does, to watch who impresses. Her manner is rather subdued and soon she's enjoying her own beverage of fruit juice as a drudge was flagged down to get her one.
Matiaal grins at Kayla. "Okay. I'm glad you're happy." A chuckle at Ghrae, offering her a tight hug. "I'm glad you're here now."
Kayla realizes Sarine has impressed the little blue, and she giggles, "Maybe he just knew the harper in the crowd." She doesn't pay much attention to the handful of meat, turning to smile at the new fire lizard friend, "Congratulations." Then, she looks back at the eggs again.
Sarine blinks at the blue firelizard as he suddenly chooses her. She seems for once to not know what to say, but that doesn't stop her from taking some of the meat and feeding it to the hungry firelizard. She finally gets over the shock and starts to smile. She smiles at Keilah. "He seemed to like that humming, maybe he'll help me practice my music." She smiles at Kayla. "Thanks."
A loud crackling sound comes from Dragon's Castle Egg, head snapping out of the crack immediately, diamonds glittering around as she suddenly attempts to get her body out of the rest of the egg. After several tries, she succeeds and begins to preen herself, ignoring the shell pieces and people.
Miss Dragon Hatchling
Tinges of pink can be seen flashing occasionally between the emerald hide, seeming to blend in but they indeed attract one's eyes. She looks as if someone had melted emerald gems into one mixture and made them into this firelizard's hide and added pink to play tricks with one's mind. The green firelizard seems to be composed entirely of gems, as her eyes are glittering diamonds themselves, shining in the night along with the starlight.
Keilah grins at Sarine as she nods. "Possibly. It'd make up for not being around the other singers from the hall," she replies with a shrug, pausing in her eating and eyeing of the eggs. Ears remained tuned to conversation as candidate remains more quiet than normal, primarily because she's unaccustomed to such a crowd of fairly unknown folks. Hearing more eggs crack, she turns to look at the hatchling. "Oh, that's a beaut'. Do you think it would be much trouble to take care of, really, Ilesyn, Sarine?" The ones who know it all or whatever... ;)
A'mus suddenly straightens from where he was leaning up against the table, watching the others at the loud sound from the basket. He takes a handful of meat strips from one of the provided bowls, and moves closer to the basket.
Ghrae beams at Matiaal, red highlights washing over her cheeks as she returns the hug, "I'm glad I was able to make it too!" She wriggles free after the quick hug and settles down beside Alora, reaching for a strip of meat with careful fingers, sneaking a grin at Matiaal before hunching down to eye the rocking eggs. "You look very familiar. You're from the hold?" She asks Alora quietly. Meat slips from her fingertips and she hastily picks it up, most of her attention on the little green, "oh! Look at that. Like a little jewel huh?"
Kayla's eyes go wide again, and this time she doesn't even make a sound. Instead, her jaw is dropped as she sees the pretty green. Then hand moves again, trying to coax the creature to her, the smile on her face the evidence of what her thoughts might be.
Chartreuse humms louder again as the newly arrived green makes her presence. A rather--odd coloured one, but loved none the less. The older green fidgets on her rafter perch, never quite sitting still as she's quite the bundle of hyperactive green hide.
"Yes." Ilesyn's answer is actually rather predictable - Keilah's question met with another, equally predictable, roll of the eyes. "Very much trouble. And the consideration of mental health makes it even worse. Firelizards are not good for you." The Mindhealer sighs, as she weaves her way back towards the tables, sitting down again with a sigh. "Candidates ought to know better. Not, I suppose, that I should really place much faith in any of them." They said 'yes' to search, after all.
Sarine smiles at Keilah. "I hope he likes music, even if he's not good at it himself. He'll be around it, after all." She thinks a moment at Keilah's question, though she doesn't stop feeding the little hatching. "I'm not sure, depends on how soon the big eggs hatch. If they hatched tomorrow Ilesyn is right and it would be hard to take care of a firelizard and a dragon at the same time. Though after a little while, I'm sure he'll becomore a bit more independent."
Alora gives a quick nod to Ghrae, eyes widening a bit, nearly beaming as the woman recognizes her. "Mmm hmm. I was a stablehand there- born there too. Alora's my name." She trails off as the beatiful little green breaks free of her shell. "Oh, she's lovely." She sighs happily, whether she Impresses one or not, it's great to be at the hatching.
"It's hard to take care of a grown dragon and firelizards," Palia says with sureity, "Let alone a firelizard and a growing dragon. You might do well to stay away from the firelizards.. any candidates that is." She glances at the ones wearing candidate knots.
A'mus snorts and shakes his head, overhearing some of the conversation, but returns his attention to the little gem that has just hatched.
Miss Dragon Hatchling jumps down from the Basket after throughly preening herself, diamond eyes glittering about, eyeing the food. The firelizard seems to pace from one end to the other, choosing them... Which meat should she choose? Which hand, tsk... Decisions, decisions...
Ilesyn's face brightens, Palia's words drawing - finally - some approval from the Mindhealer. She turns back, awarding the bluerider with a grin. "At last, someone with some sense. If only they'd /listen/, though."
Chartreuse switches her attention to the bronze firelizard and with a high pitched delighted chirp, in greeting, that would surely be painfull to anyones ears nearby. Chittering then, she flutters her wings a bit and begins her humming again when the hatchling begins to move.
Kayla doesn't seem to notice anyone's words now. If she did, perhaps things would be different. Instead, it is just the motion of her hand and bright eyes following motions. Everything else is just not being registered by the girl.
"Oh," Keilah replies with a frown to Ilesyn's reply, then sighing. "Well, hey, see that weyrbrat over there?" She points across the room. "Maybe if I Impressed, he'd take care of her after she got used to me?" She continues to pout at Ilesyn's words as she discretely lowers raw meat by her side. Lalala. No one knows... "You could always train him, SArine. What are you gonna name him? And I dunno... I don't think the Eggs are hard enough by any means!" She looks towarD Palia, then, with a nod. She would know what it's like. Keilah starts to slide the meat slowly upward, back toward the table.
"I got three firelizards," Palia reaches up and tugs on her ear as if it's bothering her. "And Keirath. Trying to oil all of them is a chore. I had Skydancer first and he's the most well behaved, but I had no time to train the green or brown." Doesn't even use their names she does.
A'mus slowly works his way closer to the basket, a small piece of meat idly twirling in his fingers, careful not to jostle anyone.
Ghrae dangles a strip of meat out from an outstretched hand, but her attention strays to Alora when the little firelizard turns to look in a different direction, "um yes! You've missd all the excitement lately. Well, I guess the excitement there cannot compair to what you have going on here but still." She winks and turns back to the young firelizard, "do they go for the movement, or for the smell?" The meat flips as she moves it back and forth.
Sarine smiles at Keilah. "I have no idea what I'm going to name him, I haven't thought about it." Though now she does, and frowns. "I still have no idea. I'll have to think about it awhile. It's not a decision to make lightly."
Pride swoops out of *between*, letting out loud trills as she hovers above the Basket, but after some soothing from Matiaal, she swoops back up to the rafters to take a position beside Chartreuse, shifting nervously on talons.
Ilesyn gives her head a firm nod, a meaningful glance going out towards the candidates, to see if they're actually listening to Palia - whose words are evidently considered very much sound in her own view. "They're useless things, and aren't entirely good for a person, either." Keilah's comments earns a snort; "The firelizard'd be Impressed to /you/. They don't really take well to being foisted off on people." But she gives up, going quiet.
Alora glances up at Palia as she talks about all the work and lack of time. She glances at the meat in her hand, pondering. Well... it won't hurt to try. Maybe she won't impress after all. It would be a shame to miss out on the opportunity, right? You can see her thoughtful expression, an outward indication of what's going through her head, eyes flickering over the eggs.
Miss Dragon Hatchling bounces away from someone, not liking their sound. Nope, nope that one just won't do it. The Miss Dragon Hatchling spies something she likes... Yes... That one. She waddles her way with dignity over to Alora, seeming to have chosen her.
Alora blinks as the hatchling wanders over to her. Emerald eyes widen and a soft gasp parts her lips. She lowers the meat toward the hatchling, holding it out toward the dainty little green. "Here you go little one..." It's a whisper, a smile on her lips.
Ghrae flaps the meat a little more as she pinches the slice in her fingers but after a momet stops, watching the little green head for Alora. "I wonder what she means," indicating Ilesyn, "that they're not good for a person? Would save me lots of footwork!"
"And you can't do anything about them..." Keilah murmurs to Palia's words with a sigh. Firelizards aren't like canines; can't exactly toss them on another owner. She nods toward Sarine, smiling. "Name him something musical, maybe? Like.. after an instrument? And ohh," the innocent one replies with a nod to Ilesyn's words. "It's a difficult decision, it is... They seem so cute, and people seem to like them." She grins, shaking her head at Alora. "Good luck to you with that one..."
A'mus watches the little green head towards Alora, but does continue to gently move the piece of meat in his fingers.
Kayla sighs softly, blinking a little as she watches the hatchling. Then, with a smile, she goes back to watching the eggs, her hand not moving with the same excitement as before.
Miss Dragon Hatchling looks deeply into Alora's eyes with utter love and trust. And overpowering hunger.
Alora beams as the little green's mind touches hers. She pops the meat into the little one's mouth, gently scooping the hatchling into her lap. "Hi there," is whispered, even as she reaches for more meat.
Il Corvo Egg starts to rock more, jumping up and down a little bit, rolling around on the toasty sand in the basket, hitting the rim and that stops it from rocking for a moment...
Sarine keeps feeding the little blue little pieces of food until his eyes droop and he falls asleep. She looks at him as he lies in the crook of her arm, not much of her attention left on the rest of the hatching though she does glance up every once in awhile. She notices Alora with the green and smiles. "Congratulations Alora."
Kayla looks over and smiles a bit more, if with an edge of disappointment, "Congratulations." A shrug, then she looks at the rocking egg, murmuring something under her breath, "... didn't think ... ...."
A'mus murmurs in his quiet baritone, "Congratulations, Alora. You'll do fine with her."
Alora grins up at Sarine. "Thanks. And congratulations to you too." Still positively beaming, she continues to tear off bite-sized pieces of meat, feeding them to the little green. As the frantic feeding slows a bit she stands, carefully cradling her new friend and continuing to feed her. She picks her way around the hopefuls, trying to give them more room as she settles into a chair a bit away from the basket.
Sarine smiles and stands up, making sure not to jostle the sleeping firelizard. She smiles at everyone. "I'm going to bring him someplace quiet, now that he's sleeping. Good luck everyone."
Ghrae murmurs to Alora, "congratulations on her. Very nice." She rocks back onto her heels a little, not bothering to hide the shadow of disapointment that compresses her lips. She looks up as Sarine makes to leave, "Congratulations to you as well." and a wave goodbye with her bloodied fingers.
Sarine smiles at Ghrae. "Thanks a lot." She waves to everyone one final time with her free hand (the other arm being occupied with the sleeping blue) and heads out.
Sarine walks off southeastwards to the darker inner cavern.
S'vilen ambles in from the inner cavern.
With a sharp *snap, crackle, and pop*, a large crack forms, running the length of Il Corvo Egg. A tiny firelizard's nose appears, wriggling hard against the crack, trying to get out. After several tries, the Sarah Hatchling pops out, rolling heads over heels, and when it gets on its unsteady feet, Sarah Hatchling shakes her head, attempting to look dignified.
Sarah Hatchling
Glimmering green hide shines from this firelizard, her sinous body seeming to call to a person's attention to be touched and pleased. The emerald hide is deep, rich, and verdant, almost as if she was the living jungles herself, readily blending in with foliage. Her eyes are something to marvel and adore about, as they always give her the innocent look, as if she wouldn't dare to do anything else in the world that these other firelizards would do.
Ilesyn finally gives up table-sitting, and gathers herself into a chair, still watching the hatching on the other side of the cavern, although with vague, rather disinterested attention. Instead, she drains her cider, peering at the table as she continues to mutter to herself - no doubt about the quality of candidates.
A'mus raises an eyebrow, breathing a quiet 'wow' as another green hatches from the clutch, still idly twirling a strip of meat in his long fingers.
Kayla's attention is drawn to the hatchling, a hand holding out the meat with a less expectant air then before. If noticed, then fine, but otherwise, she'd rather not get her hopes up.
Keilah watches folks come and go with wide eyes as she resituates herself in her seat, sighing softly. Part of her wants to offer all the meat in the bowl to the firelizard, and the other part of her bides by Ilesyn and Palia's words. Seeing the newly entered rider, she decided for a third opinion as she grabs more of the raw meat and eyes the newest hatchling. "S'vilen, you think it's a bad idea for a candidate to Impress a firelizard, time wise?" One day, she will learn to make decisions for herself...
Alora cuddles her little green closer to her, as she smiles down at Ghrae. "Thank you, and good luck." At Keilah's question, Alora looks up expectantly for S'vilen's answer. Her teeth touch her bottom lip, almost nervously, even as she keeps feeding the hatchling.
Sarah Hatchling drops down from the basket after determining that nobody thought her undigified from how she'd Hatched. After some hard thinking and smelling of the waft of meat, she stands in front of Kayla, unsure as if she should head there or not...
Kayla blinks a little, noticing that the newest hatchling is standing in front of her. Then, before she can get cold feet, she holds out the handful towards her - not pushing, but making it easier to reach, should she want it.
S'vilen strides into the cavern, a well-behaved bronze firelizard perched on his padded shoulder. His eyes take in the scene, lips firming into a line. He clears his throat, about to speak, but Keilah's question still whatever he was about to say. He shrugs, unbalancing the firelizard, who doesn't so much as complain. "If you Impress, the firelizard will probably end up going wild, or mostly wild. Your dragon will come first in everything."
Ghrae gives a little shake of her meat as she squints at the lovely firelizard and makes soft clicking sounds with her tongue as she tries to lure it towards her. "mmm! Yummy meat."
Keilah looks down at the green as she chews her lip, flipping meat from hand to hand. "Well, if I don't Impress, then it won't, and I'll have someone to deliver messages for me..." She hmms in thought as she tilts her head to the side. "So hard to decide... I mean, I'm not really worried about the Impressing a dragon thing..."
Sarah Hatchling indeed decides to head over to Kayla after having that meatful of delicious food handed to her, her hunger overpowering her fear. How lucky can Kayla be? Beyond infinity...
Ilesyn rises from her seat - again - to refill her mug with cider, stepping past the still-hatching eggs on her way back; "Wait until after candidacy to Impress, in my opinion, if you desperately must." Scorn, there - Must anyone Impress one, honestly?
Sarah Hatchling looks deeply into Kayla's eyes with utter love and trust. And overpowering hunger.
At S'vilen's words, Alora's expression drops. She glances down at the little green in her arms who has stuffed herself and is now drowsing. She gives the little one a gentle stroking and nods. "Right. I mean, there is nothing to say we'll Impress dragons at all." She sighs softly. "It will all work out one way or another."
Dark Mab Egg swings from side to side, rocking in rhythm with the only other egg remaining, both rocking and rocking... The egg is the biggest, so something starts to happen first, still going unnoticed by anyone...
Kayla blinks slowly, and then again, before offering a bit more meat, still nice, small pieces, the smallest in her bowl. Then, feeling a little braver, she reaches down and picks up the small creature, humming softly to it. She hasn't heard any of the discussion around her, and is even less likely to notice the serious conversation as she moves back up into the chair she'd been leaning against.
Ghrae whispers a soft, "darn." as the firelizard ignores her and she drops the now rather dried up strip of meat and reaches for a fresh one from the bowl. "Maybe this will give me better luck."
Dream Apartment Egg does indeed rock in rhythm with the Dark Mab one, but after a short while, it stops rocking. Quietly...
"However," S'vilen's tone sharpens. "If you're interested in touching the dragon eggs, you'll have to leave the babies behind. They won't be allowed on the Sands with you."
Alora glances up quickly. "Now? Is there an egg touching /now/?" She swallows hard. "I hadn't heard about that." Now she's truly crestfallen, sighing heavily.
Kayla looks up suddenly, "Egg touching? Now?" She looks down at the little green, then back up at S'vilen, then back, offering another piece of meat to the little one cradled in her arm.
S'vilen shakes his head at Alora. "No, not now. But they need near-constant care when they're little. It won't be easy to leave them behind tomorrow or even a sevenday from now."
Keilah smiles softly toward Alora. "Don't worry about it. I'm sure things will go well, and from what I've heard, you might not feel bad once you have a dragon, if you Impress, because of all that Impression and bonding and all... Oh, and congrats to you, though, Kayla..." She looks toward S'vilen. "Hmm... Well, if I HAVE to go on the Sands, considering I got herdbeast spit at me last time, I'll be sure to leave the firelizard behind if I Impressed." Meatless hand flips the red, polka-dotted scarf over her shoulder. "I could imagine what the gold would think of that..."
Almost immediately, a sharp crack snaps on Dark Mab Egg's surface. Pieces of Dark Mab Egg break apart to reveal Mercutio Hatchling, bits and pieces sticking to the Mercutio Hatchling, and Mercutio Hatchling shakes his entire body, flinging bits of Dark Mab Egg's shell around, but it causes him to lose footing on his weak legs. After slipping and sliding a bit, the Mercutio Hatchling stands up again, snorting.
Mercutio Hatchling
Living taut brown hide with varying degrees of darkness and brightness are only the outside of this alive and breathing firelizard. The eyes of this firelizard are the Jewels of The Night, shining in any light and darkness. As the brown firelizard moves sinously, the color seems to be coming alive, swirling and moving around on him, but it's only the effect that the varying brightness and darkness of the brown hide has on one's eyes.
Alora just sighs gratefully then nods to S'vilen. "I guess I'll take my chances. She might be sleeping or something... I'm sorry I didn't realize it would be that much of a conflict." She gives a quick nod then. "I will be sure that she doesn't follow me on to the sands either way."
Ilesyn settles back down in her seat, somewhat approving of S'vilen's dealings with the candidates, although she avoids making comments - or even proper glances - in that particular direction; it's in her expression that her approval lies. She mutters to herself, "It's... they... /someone/."
You sense "Ilesyn settles back down in her seat, somewhat approving of S'vilen's dealings with the candidates, although she avoids making comments - or even proper glances - in that particular direction; it's in her expression that her approval lies. "It's about time they learnt to listen to /someone/.""
Ghrae listens to the conversation about firelizards and dragons with part of her attention and attempts to lure the newly hatched firelizard. "Little message-carrier. I bet you'll be big enough to carry lots of messages."
With a sharp *snap*, a large crack forms, running the length of Dream Apartment Egg. A long nose appears, and it is not long before Oda May Hatchling is free, standing there on unsteady young legs.
Oda May Hatchling
Lush shades of moss green cover this green's sleek and lithe form from muzzle tip to tail tip. She seems almost untouched by any other colouring until she begins to move in confident strides, light striking off dustings of apple and jade along her back. These colours drip off slowly to cover her shoulders and half of her sides like a snug fitting jacket. Delicate whisps of forest and emerald flow across her haunces and down her tail like the wavy fabric of a dress. More of the strange markings find themselves placed atop her slightly wide wedge shaped head, the colours such a dark shade of green it almost appears black as it curls just above her large eyes. Her wings bare blossoms of bright yellow-greens and lime which sparkle in the light like many jeweles when fully extended.
A'mus looks down at the now fairly stale piece of wherry in his hand, and reaches for another one, beginning to hum softly under his breath, in unconcious imitation of his other firelizard.
Kayla smiles as she looks at the new hatchlings, but she seems to devout most of her attention to the now dozingly full Jazbel in her arms. A look up and a nods to the weyrsecond, "Yes, sir. I'll leave her on my cot when its time for egg touchings and such." Then, back, running a light finger over the small green she holds.
S'vilen's firelizard leaps off his shoulder in response to a certain shrug from the rider. He darts up to one of the vacant perches and settles down comfortably to wait. S'vilen nods once at Alora and Kayla, and turns to walk towards the serving table.
Mercutio Hatchling extends his nose to his newly clutchsister, crooning softly at the green before swinging his head to the crowd of strange beings in front of him. Meat? Is that what I smell? And the Mercutio Hatchling drops down to the tabletop, the Jewels of The Night drifting over each hand holding meat...
Ghrae murmurs, "lots of greens in this clutch." she smiles at those still around the basket and interested in the hatching. "oh, but look at her." Now she's torn between which one she likes and makes a face, "well...not like I'll have much choice in the matter, they'll either like it or not." And she aims her bit of food between the two little lizards.
Keilah glances, unblinking, toward Alora and her 'lizard before biting a lip. "Oh, they just keep on coming, don't they?" she murmurs with a giggle, looking between the firelizards and still dumbly holding the meat in a lack of decision. She leans against the edge of her seat, eyeing them both. "He looks quite strong, and she quite pretty..." the candidate idly decides.
Oda May Hatchling sniffs at her clutchbrother, emitting a greeting chirp back to the brown, jumping down alongside the Mercutio Hatchling, her own sparkling faucets watching the meat.
Alora grins and nods at Keilah, her smile returning slightly. "They do. And they are all so beautiful! Just think happy thoughts, Keilah." She grins, nodding encouragement.
Mercutio Hatchling immediately jumps on Ghrae's meat, tearing through the meat and quickly swallowing it. Then he lifts his eyes up to Ghrae, emitting demands for more meat... Give Me More Food! Hungry!
Mercutio Hatchling looks deeply into Ghrae's eyes with utter love and trust. And overpowering hunger.
Kayla looks up and smiles as she sees the brown impress to Ghrae, "Congratulations." She does seem a bit distracted, but she looks to see who the last green will impress to.
Ghrae lets out a soft gasp of surprise as the little one takes the bait and draws back only to find the firelizard coming at her with hungry cries. Lucky for her the bowl of scraps still has plenty of meat and she grabs a handful, offering mouthful after mouthful to the firelizard until he's in her arms. "Oh! Um, oh thank you." She grins happily to Kayla, struggling to contain the little squirming prize.
"Congratulations there," Keilah tells Ghrae with a grin. "He seems a nice, bold one," she informs the impresser before grabbing a meatroll from her plate, chewing on it while watching the other hatchling. "While this other seems friendly..." Others have grown quiet, so she's taken to talking to herself.
Oda May Hatchling snorts as her clutchsibling leaps on the next meat offered to them. Bah. Picky, picky, she is. Hmm. Someone who doesn't seem to be interested in her? Ha, she'll teach them a lesson... And so she quickly bounces over to Keilah, demanding for food as well.
Alora cheers softly, trying not to waken the little green bundle in her arms. "Congratulations Ghrae! Oh, he's wonderful." She's beaming, absently stroking the hide of her own hatchling.
A'mus chuckles softly and hands his strip of meat to his bronze.
Keilah blinks down at the firelizard, biting her lip. Okay, so she inwardly wanted one, but now her eyes widen. "Oh, things will be hectic this sevenday," she murmurs with a sigh as she reaches to the green with the raw meat. "You're a lovely one, you are," she tells her in a soft voice.
Oda May Hatchling s satsified with Keilah's reaction and so...
Ghrae blushes and rubs a finger over the top of the brown's head, looking quite pleased with herself, "I didn't really expect to impress and oh wow this is so wonderful." A warm smile at Alora and Keilah, "and congratulations to you too." to the girl impressing the little green. "A nice group."
Oda May Hatchling looks deeply into Keilah's eyes with utter love and trust. And overpowering hunger.
A'mus sighs a little, still chuckling at his bronze's antics, and stands up, stretching, before murmuring, "Monaco's duties," and striding out of the Living Cavern.
A'mus walks off westwards to the center bowl.
S'vilen's eyes travel over the food and he purses his lips, frowing slightly. Finally, he makes a few choices and wanders over to the comfortable chairs, all currently occupied. A candidate in one of them, however, hops out of the chair and gesture for S'vilen to take it, earning himself a smile from the Weyrsecond. His eyes lift as he sits, to find his firelizard and he taps the arm of the chair. The firelizard swoops down and lands nearly on the chair.
Kayla smiles as she sees Keilah impress as well, "Congratulations." Then, with great care, she gets to her feet and takes the bowl towards the kitchens, "I think that I should go ahead and go to the infirmary and see if I can get some salve for her." She beams a bit and looks down at the small sleeping creature.
Ilesyn, having drained her second mug of cider, deposits said mug with the dirty dishes, and strides for the caverns. She won't say anything - thank goodness.
You amble southeastwards to the darker inner cavern.
