30-09-01: Loveless by the Lakeside

You amble southwestwards to the central part of the bowl floor.

Miake ambles in from the southwestern bowl floor.

Matiaal is sitting on the sand, a small fire going in front of him. He has his hands out to the fire, warming them. His blue Skyle and green Pride are perch on both of his shoulders. He waves to the others as they enter.

Ilesyn strides purposely towards the lake, her boots sinking into the sandy shore as her path is made; there's an aimless element in the progress, for, although she moves quickly, she apparently has no direct aim. Her eyes catch upon those about the vicinity, a nod the first note of greeting she makes; "Evening."

Tylisath lumbers in, eyes going to the fire with interest, before she moves into the water instead. Submerging herself almost instantly, she gives a warbled greeting, Miake staying well away from the shore as she trails in behind the green. A bit of a grin to the other and she shakes her head. "No way, Tyli... I'm not going in."

Matiaal smiles and nods, "Hello there." The crafter eyes Tylisath as he turns back to stritching his own blue and green firelizards' heads to keep them from being too much of a nusiance. Then a free hand uses a stick and pokes the fire in front of him to keep it going, adding the stick after he's finished using it.

"Why do you have a fire, by the lake?" requests Ilesyn, after a genuine smile is made to Mike and Tylisath, her footfalls pattering heavily as she moves towards the other crafter and his blaze.

Miake shakes her head once more, sighing as she moves a bit closer to the fire, even as she settles herself on a large rock near the water's edge. Tylisath submerges herself momentarily, rising above the surface of the lake then to send waves of water onto the beach. A bit of a nod and Miake looks at the fire with a shake of her head. "Yeah, why do you?"

Matiaal responds to Ilesyn, "Because it's cold, even freezing? It's not as if the fire's going to fall into the lake. I'm used to the cold but I thought I'd have a luxury by having a fire." He smiles at Ilesyn as his firelizards give a greeting chirp to them.

Ilesyn digs her hands into her pockets, wiggling one finger through a hole that emerges into the air beyond. "Oh," she notes, taking this comment thoughtfully. "I didn't much notice; I suppose I have some super-tolerance." She wrinkles her nose at sight of the firelizards, but no comment is made. "How is your lifemate, Miake?"

Miake pulls her knees up to her chest as she balances on the rock, emerald eyes focused on the fire. The sound of her name has her shaking her head, glancing at Ilesyn momentarily. "Tyli? She's being... herself." What else is there? "She thinks it's fun to get me in trouble. Because she can't." Of course that's why.

Matiaal shrugs, "Well, I don't mind it much." But that's all he says as he finally sends his firelizards away to perch on the table, tired of having them on his shoulders. "Trouble? Now, why would /you/, Miake, get in trouble, hmm?"

"Attention seeking," decides Ilesyn quietly, more a murmur to herself than to the other two. "Mm-hmm." She seats herself, cross legged upon the ground, her eyes raised to watch her companions. "She needs an outlet, to get her own trouble-urges out. Let her make a m--Oh, sorry. I shouldn't..." She trails off, but not before adding, "Well, anyway."

Miake bites down on her lip, eyes going to the ground before back to the pair by the fire, hands lifted from around her legs defensively. "She pushed me in a bucket of water, and yeah..." There really isn't any need to say anything else. "But I didn't do anything, really!" That just /has/ to be added. At this, Tylisath snorts, bubbles appearing from her nostrils in the water. At Ilesyn's input, Miake turns her gaze to her, blinking a few times. "Let her what?"

Matiaal blinks at Miake. "She pushed you into a bucket of water and what happened? Why would that get you into trouble?" asks Matiaal again, even more curious now as he peers at Ilesyn for a moment at her talking to herself.

Ilesyn doesn't have the sense to flush; instead, she continues as she was before, "Let her knock over a pot of oil, or tangle a set of straps. To let her have that attention." She affirms this with a nod, adding, "Don't let her force you into anything you don't want to do."

Miake pulls her arms back around her knees, biting her lip for a second before shaking her head. "She dropped something in and couldn't get it, so she pushed me in. C'daer was lifting me out when Weyrlingmaster Yilisa walked in." Yep... trouble. A glance at Ilesyn, and she ponders this, shaking her head. "Yilisa'd get mad at both of us, then. Her for doing it, and me for letting her." A glance at the green lump in the water, and she wrinkles her nose. "I hope she didn't hear."

Matiaal laughs at Miake, "Oh, poor Miake! Yilisa caught you and C'daer? Did she think you and C'daer were doing something else?" A wink at Miake and again, he raises a eyebrow at Ilesyn. "Yes." is all he says to her.

Ilesyn winces, admitting more quietly, "Perhaps that isn't a good idea. Oh dear." Her mindhealing attempts are not *always* so successful. "Perhaps get her too busy doing other things. Find an outlet." She avoids Matiaal's gaze; his raised eyebrows and 'yes' are disquieting.

Miake nods slowly, even as she turns a bit of a pink. "She did... but we didn't, really!" Really, really. "Ask Tylisath!" As if that will work, though. Tylisath'll prolly tell one of her elaborate stories. A blink at the 'yes' has her shaking her head, before chewing on her upper lip as she ponders this. "Maybe... I should try."

Matiaalblinks at Ilesyn pointedly avoiding him. The crafter shrugs as she doesn't want to see him at this point, apparently, turning back to Miake, grinning. "Okay. Tylisath! Did Yilisa think Miake and C'daer were doing something else? Are they together?"

"I," agrees Ilesyn, "think it would be worth a try. And if it doesn't work, at least you did your best." She outstretches one of her long legs, leaning backwards within the sandy earth beneath her. "How will Tylisath respond, Matiaal, Miake? This could prove interesting."

Tylisath pulls herself out of the water, hauling herself onto the shore, stopping a leg-reach from Matiaal, one eye watching him, the other on Ilesyn. With a snort, a flick of her tail, she returns to the green lump in the water. Snickering slightly, Miake shakes her head. "Oh... she said that we are as together as you and Ilesyn right now. Whatever that means." Mia doesn't ask. A bit of a nod to Ilesyn and she sighs. "Yeah... that's the best, I think."

Matiaal lifts a brow at Miake. "Okay. That wasn't a elaborate story, even though it included me and Ilesyn." A grin at Ilesyn then his eyes turn back to the green swimming in the water in the darkness of the night.

Ilesyn's lips twitch, "I guess that makes it a no. For the moment. Is that sexual frustration, hmm." Never resisting the chance to make some kind of comment in this arena, she smiles, towards both -- and a wink toges to Matiaal, for no apparent reason.

Miake raises an eyebrow, eyeing first one, then the other. "But, yeah... she won't say anything... besides, we're Weyrlings... it isn't allowed." Like that would really /stop/ someone. A blink at Ilesyn again, and she narrows her eyes slightly. "Is what?" Tylisath just paddles around idly in the water, for now ignoring those on the beach.

Matiaal blinks at Ilesyn's wink and 'sexual frustration' words. "Sexual frustration? I know I have that..." A chuckle as he sends his own wink back at Ilesyn, responding to Miake. "Oh, I know, I'm experiencing the problems of being a weyrling, even though I'm not a weyrling myself." The double meaning behind that isn't clear, nor does Matiaal clear it up for the two.

Ilesyn knows little of a certain something known as 'tact'; "Sexual frustration. You like each other, but cannot admit to it, because it's against the rules. It's very evident. Not you, too, Matiaal? Faranth, this weyr is full of you!" Like Ilesyn, who is likely to *never* be the object of anyone's affections, at least physically, knows a thing.

Miake lets her forehead drop against her knees, cheeks bright red as they disappear from view. Lifting her head just enough to peer at the pair with emerald eyes, she grins slightly. "Thanks for clearing that up, Ilesyn." And then, Mia's peering at Mat, blush fading. "What you you mean by that?"

Matiaal chuckles at Ilesyn, "Yes, me as well." Then he turns and regards Miake for a moment. "Promise not to tell Yilisa? It'd get me in deep trouble, as well as the weyrling I'm attracted to." Sapphire eyes glint in the fire's flames, adding a effect to the shadows dancing across his face.

"Oh, no problem," grins Ilesyn, effervescently cheerful. "Who has you frustrated, Matiaal?" She wiggles forward, interested. "A weyrling. Hmm."

Miake blinks slightly, thinking over the other Weyrlings, nodding idly to Mat as a promise. A blink, and she narrows her gaze at Mat. "It's not Maykara or Daera, is it?" Blinking she shakes her head. "But who is it otherwise?"

Matiaal shakes his head, "No, it's not Daera or Maykara. Maykara is over with, we're just friends now." An amused chuckle is sent to Ilseyn. "You like gossip? You're /not/ to gossip about this, now." A half-serious, half-amused look. "Thera. That's who it is... I've been waiting for a long time, me and Thera have been waiting for Rilareth to mature so we can finally be together."

"I didn't gossip," Ilesyn promises. "Patient confidentiality." Patient, huh? "Ooh, *Thera*. Good luck -- I guess it would be hard waiting for that." Just try being Ilesyn, for something worse. She shifts, then stands, noting: "I better get back to work. More sneezing in the infirmary, what fun! I'm a *mindhealer*, not a body healer." Groaning good naturedly, she waves a hand, "See you both around."

Miake nods slowly, thinking this over, the blue rider and Matiaal suddenly making sense to her. "I knew that... I swear." And then a shake of her head and she looks to Mat, offering a hand. "I won't say a word, I promise." A wrinkle of her nose and she shudders slightly. "I'm sorry... See you around, and thank you for the suggestions."

Matiaal sends Ilesyn a suspicious look but waves goodbye to her. "Bye. Nite... Do /not/ tell, or you'll have a angry Woodcrafter, as well as a weyrling." Then he turns to Miake, taking Miake's hand to shake on the promise. "Good. I /do/ miss Thera, but as long as I've been waiting, it won't hurt me to wait more for her." A smile and nod. "Yes..."

You amble northeastwards to the southwestern bowl floor.
