You walk over to the Lakeside Meadow.
Kayjay squawks and giggles at the same time. "I am relaxed. Can't you see how relaxed I am?" She giggles nervously. "Totally relaxed. Not a tense muscle in my body."
"Kayjay? Relaxed?" Auralia's just wandering through, honest. But she happened to catch that. "Is this possible?"
Jeryn and D'thyn are obviously trying to hoist Kayjay, new dress and all, into the air... and she, of course, is protesting. Hah.
D'thyn makes a grab for Kayjay's arms while Jeryn's distracting her, and smiles at Auralia, "At least she'll have her mind off her usual worries soon."
Auralia sort of peers. She only just noticed that. "Shards you people scare me. And they say greenriders are odd." Walking away...walking away. Okay, not walking away. Watching.
Kayjay hops on one foot, looking for her crutches. "I am really relaxed. See? I am hopping up and down for joy just cause I am so happy." She notices Auralia. 'Save me. These two men want to dump me in the ocean."
"Into the -ocean-?" Oops. Doesn't look like you'll loose Auralia now. "Sounds like fun! Can I help?" Innocent smiles. Sorry Kayjay. "Glad to hear as much, though. Happy, happy, happy! That's the way to be."
Jeryn says in their defense, "We /are/ gonna take good care of her pretty new dress, tho." He makes an effort to grab the injured foot, but /gently/.
D'thyn grins at Auralia. "Excellent idea, Auralia. I think Jeryn needs some help on the foot end, that crutch seems to be flailing in a most threatening fashion."
Auralia eyes the dress, all curious like, and nods her assent, "Better do that. She might get really mad, otherwise. " And we don't want that. The foot is eyed, next, and the offending crutch. "Right. Gotta get that out of the way. Sorry, Kay, but I don't quite see you needing it at the moment." She makes a swipe. Misses, but the attempt is obvious.
Kayjay realizes she is surrounded, her eyes widening at Jeryn's comment. "The dress is cotton. It won't get hurt if it happens to get wet. Honestly!"
D'thyn finally gets a good grip around poor Kayjay's upper arms and lifts her a little up in the air to give Auralia and Jeryn a better shot at those legs.
Kayjay shrieks bloody murder. Tomboy Kayjay out in full front and kicks like a runner colt. Suriath!! Quit flirting with Jiazith and get over here!"
Jeryn managest to cradle the injured foot, which gives Kayjay very little leverage, and he nabs the other one while Auralia handles the crutches. "Right, then. Off to the ocean!" OOF! as Kayjay kicks him /hard/ in the breastbone.
Auralia is most likely going to get battered to death, especially if those legs are moving about a lot, which they obviously are, but she tries all the same. "Calm down, dear. We're not going to hurt you." At all. Right? One hand manages to grab at the crutches, flails, but manages to keep a hold on it. "Just let -go-!"
D'thyn winces, straining to keep a firm hold on the writhing form of the brownrider. "You alright, Jeryn? Never trust riders -- they're almost always even stronger than they look."
Jeryn wheeeezes a little bit, but his hands never lose their grip, nor does he allow Kayjay's injured ankle to be further assaulted. Of course, that leaves him open for another kick or two.
Kayjay mutters. "Shardin' right. Jeryn knows how strong I am. Just you wait, Jeryn, you better be hoping your egg is on the sands.. It will be a long day before you get any..." She blushes and wriggles some more and aims for a well placed kick to knock over Jeryn. She slips however and ends up sprawled against D'thyn. "Shards! "
Auralia takes her chance, yanking at the crunch, and somehow managing to send it flying out of her hands, and into the rest of the meadow behind her. Unsurprisingly, it wacks into her thumb as she does so. Picture greenrider: out of action. "Ow!" Thumb enters mouth, and greenrider scowls.
Jeryn grunts a bit as Kayjay lands another kick to the same exact spot, but he stands his ground. Former assistant stewards are also made of stern stuff. "Scoop her up!" he wheezes to D'thyn. "Quickly, before she gets away!"
The brownrider winces at the "Ow" and turns to Auralia a look of concern on her face. "You alright?" Worried Kayjay in action, which of course lays her right open to where she was before, about to be carted away to be dunked.
D'thyn slips his arms around Kayjay's stomach as she falls back against him, supporting her but also getting a better hold. "Got her, I think." He tests his hold by trying to lift her up again.
Auralia is, meanwhile, quite recovered. It doesn't take much, honest. Back into action, grabbing towards some limbs that happen to belong to the brownrider, "Fine, perfectly fine. Why wouldn't I be?" Finger? What finger?
Jeryn quickly reaches for Kayjay's feet again as she's distracted.
Kayjay squeals as she is grabbed. "Mucking duties for you all. I mean it." Knowning how empty her threat is, she senses her valient battle is coming to a close. One last feeble kick with her good foot. "Let Me Down!"
"You're putting -me- on mucking duties? I must say I'm slightly surprised. When did you become my wingleader?" Auralia laughs, retrieving the crutches and placing them neatly in a pile. "You won't be needing them. Boys? Are we ready?"
Jeryn says to Kayjay simply, "No." He grabs that good foot and hangs on for dear life now. Then he comments to Auralia. "I think so. If she'll stop squirming."
Kayjay whimpers. "This isn't very relaxing."
D'thyn gives Auralia a crisp nod, "Ready." And twist his head around to get a look at Kayjay's face, trying to guage her expression. Wouldn't want to be -too- cruel to the poor overworked thing.
Auralia tilts her head into a nod, "Good!" Watch Auralia take control. "Oh, relax Kayjay." Wasn't that the object? "Let it be fun. Then you'll relax."
From afar to D'thyn, Jeryn, and Auralia, Kayjay says "Why does this remind me of electroshock therapy?""
Kayjay sighs. "Wisk me away if you must!"
Jeryn adds, "Stop being a stick in the mud, Kayjay. I'm sure this will be fun if you settle back and stop being responsible." But his tone is gentle and teasing, taking off some of the sharpness of his words.
D'thyn grins at Jeryn and Auralia. "OK. Enough therapy. Off to the lake!"
Jeryn nods for Auralia to lead the way. "Bring her crutches, if you would, please."
Kayjay hrumphs but her eyes twinkle. "Fine. Just you wait Jeryn. Just you wait!"
Auralia raises the crutches in some triumphant cheer, and follows along merrily, "We're off to dunk Kayjay, the wonderful brownriding girl! Because because because because because!" A pause, "Because why? Oh, that's right." Ohdear.
<Southern Weyr> Kayjay says, "Follow the yellow brick road ?"
<Southern Weyr> Auralia says, "So I'm a bit..odd. ;)"
Temari strides over from the Southern Courtyard.
Temari wanders towards the barracks, looking mostly-asleep.
Kayjay squirms in D'thyn's arms, testing just to see how good a grip the bronzerider has on her. She maybe wearing a dress but she ain't no lady. "I am going to get you, D'thyn."
D'thyn grins at Temari as, upper part of Kayjay held firmly in his arms, he carts her down towards the beach with Jeryn and the rest of her in tow. "Because. Life is too short to not dunk friends and loved ones now and then."
From afar to Auralia and Jeryn, D'thyn says "We go to the beach now?"
Jeryn and D'thyn have a wriggling Kayjay in their arms, following Auralia, who is holding her cruthces. "Hi, Temari!!!" he greets /too/ cheerfully as he and D'thyn start heading for the beach.
From afar to D'thyn, Temari, Jeryn, and Auralia, Kayjay says "Just lead on, I will follow"
Auralia waves a crutch merrily at Temari, "It's after midnight, and we're going to dunk Kayjay. Willing?" After the two men she goes!
Stella strides over from the Southern Courtyard.
Temari blinks, and stops, "What..?" she starts, "Midnight..? Um.."
D'thyn strides over to White Sands Beach.
Kayjay walks toward White Sands Beach.
Jeryn walks toward White Sands Beach.
You walk over to White Sands Beach.
Temari walks over from the lakeside meadow.
Stella walks over from the lakeside meadow.
Kayjay snorts as she tries to break loose "Shells and shards..Suriath says I need to get wet, he figures it would do me good and he thinks I should play."
D'thyn marches over to the lake's edge. "Suriath's absolutely right. What is it you said earlier about our lifemates looking after us..?" He smiles, and begins swinging her back and forth with gusto. "OK, Jeryn -- on the count of three?"
Jeryn laughs merrily. "See! Even your dragon thinks it's a good idea!" He nods to D'thyn. "one... two... three!!!"
Temari just watches from a little further up the beach, shaking her head.
Auralia smirks, "And why fight when your dragon has even left you on your own?" She's still humming that irritating song, and quite badly, too. One can't be perfect, obviously. Crutches wave bye-bye to Kayjay, as she is tossed in, "Have fun!"
Kayjay blinks at Temari. "Heeeeellllllllppp me!"
Stella watches near Temari, curiousity getting an upper hand over her sleepyness.
D'thyn lets go and watches with a satisfied smile as Kayjay takes off. "Dragonless flight. Imagine that!"
Temari suddenly grins, "Um, I can give you a hand to get out again, Kayjay?" she calls, once Kayjay is in the air.
Jeryn heaves for all he's worth, a huge grin on his face. "Oh, she's gonna kill me later on... but what a way to go."
*Splash!* One brownrider lands in an undignified sploosh in lake. Her once crisp white dress suddenly becomes a sodden grey thing and her hair goes every which way. Spluttering, and giggling, Kayjay flails every which way as she surfaces. "Hey! The water's great! Anyone care for a dip?"
Stella blinks, frowning. In an aside to Temari, she murmurs, "Why did they do that, I wonder?"
D'thyn needs no further encouragement to follow suit and plunge out into the lake after Kayjay, fully clothed and all.
Auralia eyes the splash, her bare toes curling on the sand. "Er, not for me, thanks. It's late." This, of course, changes everything.
Temari mutters to Stella, "No... but... have... up, so whatever... must have... a good..."
Jeryn leaps in on D'thyn's heels, making a big splash!
Kayjay giggles, splashing at D'thyn. "You, You... you bronzerider you!"
Temari looks at Stella and murmers, "Auralia isn't in yet.."
Stella snickers.
Auralia isn't in. Not at all. And isn't going to be. Well, hopefuly not, anyway.
Temari starts to walk slowly towards Auralia, looking back to check if Stella is following.
Kayjay calls out to the two candidates. "Get her! She is too dry. Not good for her, She looks tense!" Saying that, she reaches for Jeryn in hopes of dunking him good. "Oh dear?"
Of course Stella is following. With a grin on her face.
Auralia isn't tense! Not at all! And one can never be too dry. Honest? She hasn't, however, noticed the two candidates. She's too busy waving at the swimmers with Kayjay's crutches.
D'thyn splashes back at Kayjay, then turns to look back up on the beach. "Auralia!" He hurries up out of the water in the direction of the greenrider. If nothing else, his -trying- to get a hold of her will get her awfully wet.
Jeryn GLUBS! as Kayjay dunks him but /goood/. He splutters a 'Yes dear?" as he surfaces and spits out a gallon of water.
Temari takes the last few steps and grabs one of Auralia's arms, then starts to pull her towards the lake.
Stella gets the other arm, helping Temari.
Auralia moves back from D'thyn. Away, away. Which is bad, since Temari has just grabbed her. "HELP! IESATH! Get down here!" No green. Hmm.
D'thyn wiggles his fingers menacingly at Auralia and bends down, making a swipe for her feet now that the Candidates have so kindly attended to those pesky arms.
Kayjay laughs out loud, forget the giggles, as she reaches for Jeryn one more time. "You look a little tense is all dear." She grins. "You too D'thyn. The stress of your wingleadership is showing on you." She kicks with her good leg hoping to get the rider totally drenched.
Auralia whimpers. Only whimpers. "Water." Eek.
<Southern Weyr> Kayjay says, "Help Me, I'm meeeeeeelting"
<Southern Weyr> Auralia beams. The theme is catching!
Auralia melts, too. Yes.
Stella chuckles. "Aww, Auralia... it's not that bad..."
Yes it is! Okay, it's not. Auralia still whimpers, all the same.
Temari lets D'thyn pick up Auralia's feet, then walks quickly towards the water, grinning widely.
Jeryn goes under a second time, but he doesn't seem to mind, his face relaxed, almost beaming for how Kayjay is reacting to her little bath.
Auralia's toes wiggle. How unsurprising!
D'thyn, fixing his hands around Auralia's ankles, pulls them up off the ground. He smiles innocently at her as he helps carry her down towards the lake. "Come now. I've seen you -thoroughly- enjoy the steam baths. How can this be much worse?"
"It's cold." Or not. Someone's just being silly. Perhaps. Her toes keep wiggling. "I don't wanna!" Although it looks as though she has no choice.
Stella just grins as she help cart the greenrider towards the water.
Temari reaches knee deep in the water, then looks at D'thyn and Stella, "Do we swing her, or just walk the rest of the way in?" she asks.
With a cross between a hop, skip and a swim, Kayjay swims quickly away from Jeryn, hopefully before he can retaliate. Her giggles however do impede her speed.
Stella chuckles, "I vote for swinging."
D'thyn laughs and gives the wiggling toes a quick smooch -- they're just too cute. "Swinging. Definitely. As with Kayjay -- on the count of three. One.. two.."
Auralia pales. "Not swinging!" Too late.
Temari yells "Three!" then throws Auralia lakewards.
Stella releases her hold on the count of three, giggling.
Auralia makes a splash. A better one that Kayjay, even. But she doesn't reappear. No indeed.
D'thyn wipes his hands, looking thoroughly pleased, and gives Temari and Stella a small salute. "Excellent work, Candidates."
Stella grins at D'thyn. "Thank you."
Kayjay starts counting after Auralia arrives in the water. "By the way, does anyone know if she can swim?"
Temari giggles, then her eyes light up and she grabs hold of Stella and throws herself both backwards into the water. Now /everyone/ is wet!
D'thyn looks at Kayjay and blinks. "I -think- she can. I've seen her in the steam baths at least..." He looks around him. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure she can swim. She would've said so when we grabbed her, otherwise. Right?"
herself and Stella both..
Auralia still doesn't appear. Well, that's not quite true. Five -- no, make that ten -- little toes poke out of the water. Of the rest of her, there is no sign. The lake monster?
Stella yelps! as she's pulled right into the water with Temari. Spluttering, she resurfaces. Having heard Kayjay just before she herself got dunked, she manages, "Yes, she can swim."
From afar to Auralia, D'thyn, Temari, Jeryn, and Stella, Kayjay says "Ah so this is where the lake monster started!"
Temari struggles back to her feet again, and looks around her, noticing the toes.. "There she is!" she exclaims, pointing.
Kayjay grins. "Someone grab them, quick before they disappear!"
Long distance to D'thyn, Kayjay, Temari, Jeryn, and Stella, Auralia snickers. Actually, I have no idea where that started. But it works!
D'thyn purses his lips as he approaches the toes, "I wouldn't -grab- them, that's a pretty good way to keep her from being able to get back up." Tickling them, however, is another matter.
Auralia's toes are going to get tickled. This is a BAAAAD thing. But they don't move. (jaws theme -- entered here).
Temari giggles, watching D'thyn approach Auralia.
<Southern Weyr> Kayjay says, "Hey I thought it was the Wizard of oz theme :)"
<Southern Weyr> Auralia swaps themes half way through. This is life. ;)
Stella chuckles. "Ooh, Tolas should be here!"
Kayjay splashes Jeryn one more time and races for shore, hoping on one foot until she reaches her crutches. "Oh Jeryn! Relaxed enough?"
D'thyn reaches out a hand.. slowly.. dripping with water.. silently it approaches its prey... and tickles mercilessly.
Auralia's toes bob downwards. Gone.
From afar to Auralia, D'thyn, Temari, Jeryn, and Stella, Kayjay says "Hopping on one foot. insert P 's whereever"
Jeryn swims after Kayjay and politely offers her the crutches. "I'm fine. And yourself?"
From afar to D'thyn, Kayjay, Temari, Jeryn, and Auralia, Stella says "OK, Auralia, you now hold the record for the person who can stay underwater the longest. :)"
Long distance to D'thyn, Kayjay, Temari, Jeryn, and Stella, Auralia is magic! Er, no. Good point. Hmm.
D'thyn frowns at the vanished toes before looking up and waving to Kayjay and Jeryn. "You two take care." He smiles at Kayjay, "You look like you've forgiven us?" And grins, "Nice um.. white dress, by the way."
Auralia pops up, purple in the face. OOOH. Pretty color. She coughs. Splutters. "D'thyn! Stop tickling!"
Kayjay still giggling, takes the crutches. "Quite so." She looks down at her dripping dress and snorts. "So is my dress." She sticks out her tongue at D'thyn. '
<Southern Weyr> Temari laughs - someone had to notice that white isn't the best colour to swim in! Or maybe it is...
<Southern Weyr> Stella snickers. White=Transparent when wet.
<Southern Weyr> Kayjay hmms and hopes KJ is wearing proper undergarments. There is a long green vest with the dress.
Kayjay hops across the beach. "Thanks for the lift, all. Good night."
Jeryn grins and offers Kayjay an arm to help her back home. "I'll walk with you, if you like...?"
<Southern Weyr> D'thyn doesn't think Pern would be very big on 'proper undergarments,' judging from similar periods of Earth history. But he'll give Kayjay the benefit of the doubt ;)
Stella turns and waves to Kayjay. "Night!" she calls.
Temari waves as Kayjay and Jeryn leave, "Good night!"
Auralia is too busy coughing and spluttering to offer Kayjay a goodnight. But the sentiment is there. Honest.
"'Night!," D'thyn calls, before looking at Auralia with an entirely innocent smile. "Tickling? Who, me?"
Kayjay giggles."Umm my arms are taken, but yes, you can walk me home."
Kayjay strides over to the lakeside meadow.
"You." From Auralia, of course. "Who else would do it? You're the only person who knows how ticklish my toes are. And..." She stops. This is getting her nowhere.
D'thyn grins and lightly splashes Auralia, pushing away from her in the water. "I don't tickle. I was just, um, poking them. To make sure you were alright down there."
Temari nods, going for her innocent look, "We were worried about you, Auralia."
Jeryn strides over to the lakeside meadow.
Chuckling, Stella turns and wades out of the water. Then, with a sigh for her sopping clothes and hair, she starts to wring out her braid.
Auralia splashes back. Rapidly. Her nose goes in the air. For a moment. "Riiiiight. It tickled. No matter the intent, it still tickled." The greenrider scowls, eyeing Temari, "Worried? About me? When you tossed me into the water?" Snort.
D'thyn chuckles, "Oh dear. I sense that Auralia feels a little.. injured. How can we possibly make it up to you?"
Auralia crosses her arms. This could get good. "Injured? I'm dying here." She scoffs. Obviously. "That depends. Doing my sweeps for three sevendays or so would do for you, but I imagine you'd not do that, even if it meant the detriment of our relationship. Ah me. But you could at least help me out of the water." To get all sandy? "On second thoughts, don't."
Temari shrugs, "Well.. we did expect you to come up again, and it wouldn't have been fair if you'd been the only one staying dry."
D'thyn nods, "Precisely. How could we have such a great time in the lake and have you up on the shore left out of it? The intention was simply to share the fun." He swims in circles around Auralia, and grins again, "Really, you should thank us. But if you -do- still feel injured, I'm sure we can redeem ourselves somehow. If not exactly via sweeps."
Auralia saw that coming. Which was why she said it. She sinks back into the water, sighing slowly, "Ah me. I think I'll survive." Her eyes follow D'thyn, "You do know you're going to get dizzy doing that? Or I am? Or..." She stops, "I'm wet now, huh? We're all wet. How...peculiar." She's not proddy, right? She's just..odd.
Redeeming? Injured? Stella peers out towards Auralia as she starts to wring out the bottom half of her shirt.
Temari giggles as she comments, "Peculiar? Being wet? This weyr must be full of peculiar people then since most of them spend as much time in the water as then can in this weather."
Auralia contemplates that, her eyes wide. "So they do. I'd never thought of that."
D'thyn winks at Temari, "Auralia in particular. Most of the times I've talked to you much, Auralia, have been in water. First the baths, now here. Imagine -that-."
All right, she already thought Auralia was strange, but this is too much. Stella shakes her head, muttering under her breath.
Auralia must be peculiar then. One can almost see the cogs turning in her head. "Oh." So much thought doesn't leave much room for vocalizing. "Baths. Of course. Never mind me."
D'thyn stops circling and winds up in front of the greenrider, peering at her a bit curiously. "Are you alright?"
Auralia peers back. Owlishly. "Fine. Quite fine."
Temari looks curiously towards Auralia from where she stands, nearer to the shore than the two riders.
D'thyn grins, "You seem.. displeased, somehow. I know. Perhaps you weren't tickled quite -enough-, and feel cut short?"
Auralia pauses, ducking her head under water for a moment, "No," she decides, rather, er, decisively, "I feel fine. No more tickling, thanks."
Temari giggles, "I'm sure she's just denying it cos she doesn't want you to make all that effort on her behalf, D'thyn," she comments.
Auralia pales. And backs away. So she can swim. Well, paddle. "No, really. I'm fine."
D'thyn grins at Temari, "You think?" And paddles after the woman. "It's no trouble, really. I mean, it's a little effort, but it's the least I can do after what we did. Throwing you out in the water and all that."
A jaw cracking yawn catches Stella by surprise. With a final glance over towards the Riders and then Temari, she chuckles and turns to leave. "G'night!" she calls over her shoulder.
Temari turns and waves at Stella, "Night!", then returns her attention to the evening's entertainment.
Stella walks toward the lakeside meadow.
Auralia pales. Very much so. Stella is given a distracted wave goodbye, and the greenrider begins to back away from D'thyn. "No, honestly. I'm fine."
D'thyn shakes his head and stops paddling. "Then I give up." He eyes Temari thoughtfully, "Unless... perhaps. Hmm." He looks back at Auralia. "I think maybe you're missing a certain fruit? Bathing just isn't the same without it."
Auralia fears this. Well, she certainly appears to do as such. "Fruit? One doesn't bathe with fruit. It's just not seemly."
Temari looks confused, "Fruit?" she echos.
D'thyn nods, "Well, so I thought, too, until you did just that. What was it again? Sweet things, I think from Island River.."
"Island River? Really? Peaches, perhaps? They're not bad." Auralia nods agreeably, swishing her hands through the water.
Temari brightens, "Plums!" she exclaims, then adds, "Oops, I wasn't supposed to say that, sorry Auralia."
Did Temari just say what Auralia thought she said? "No, it was peaches. I don't like plums. Not that I see what any of this has to do with bathing. Or me, for that matter."
D'thyn smiles, and finally -does- give up. How disappointing. "Forget about it." He splashes Auralia playfully, "From the look on your face I think we've plagued you enough. Sorry," he adds, which does sound quite sincere. "Anyway, I should be getting some rest, too. Sweeps, and all."
Auralia purses her lips. She looks almost...disappointed? How sad. "Oh. Alright. Go on, then. G'night, D'thyn."
Auralia splashes back, too, harder than ever.
Temari nods at D'thyn's mention of rest. "I was just on my way to my cot when I got distracted by you lot," she says, then turns and wades out of the water.
D'thyn ducks and winks at Auralia, getting in one last splash as he heads up out of the water. "Let me know if you find out how I can make it up to you. I have connections at Island River.. maybe a crate of fresh plums delivered to your weyr every month?" He smiles and hurries off, "Anyway, pleasant dreams!"
Auralia ohs. All alone. Dejected. Lonely. "No thanks, D'thyn!" Such is called after the bronzerider, "I've had enough of 'em to last me till I die." At least. "But peaches might be nice."
D'thyn, off in the darkness somewhere, calls back, "Peaches it is. Expect the first shipment in a couple of days."
D'thyn walks toward the lakeside meadow.

Sure enough... a couple of days after the lake incidents, a mysterious crate appears
outside the entrance to Auralia and Iesath's weyr with the ominous words 'Island River
Plums' painted on it in large lettering. On opening, however, the contents reveal
themselves as far too orange, large and fuzzy to be plums. Peaches, perhaps?
;)
