Telinda is kneeling on the beach, shaking a finger at a gold firelizard who seems intent on hissing and lunging at that same finger. "Jaly" she calls over her shoulder, thankfully not seeing the curtesy.
Auralia, shoeless, as would be the norm, can be seen walking around the curve of the beach, her short locks flickering about her face in an ocean breeze. As she comes up towards the Coastal Path, she pauses, noting the people around, and comes closer to have a look. "Good evening," says the wandering Weyrsecond, and then, "Another one of Elidi's clutches? Or is it another gold; I never can tell."
Riosin walks in, covered from head to toe in dirt. She stands on one foot to tug off her boot, hopping to one side as she loses her balance. Pausing awkwardly as she hears the seamstress greet the weyrwoman, she echoes the greeting. Her foot pops out of the held boot at the same side, sending her stumbling for a moment. She clears her throat as she blushes and peers over at what's holding everyone's attention.
The message drum booms out across the land. There's to be a firelizard hatching on Southern Weyr's Cove Beach, starting in a few moments. Anyone is welcome to attend - @tel #402, then coastal path, then beach. :) The signature shows this was sent by Telinda.
Kayjay strides over from the Coastal Path.
Telinda shakes her head, "Elidi's, again! I wonder where she sneaked off to, and I guess now I know. Stop that" she hisses right back at the gold.
Jalynia blinks in some surprise at the firelizard who seems set on eating Telinda's finger. "Uhm...do I dare ask what's going on?" the seamstress queries, peering at the tableau in a bit of startlement, towel still slung over her shoulder.
Elzbieta strides over from the Coastal Path.
Dull White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Dull White Egg shudders as knocking sounds vibrate from within.
Morgan walks over from the Coastal Path.
Dull White Egg rustles, like leaves mingling in harmony as the egg dances with a remembered wind. Slowly it twists itself deep into the sands, until suddenly, it seems to hop like an exotic insect, but only once. However enough energy is displayed for the sand coating the egg to peel away as water would shed from a leaf after the rain.
Elzbieta pulls out meatrolls that were hastily grabbed from teh table
---*** Forest Moon Green Hatchling ***---
Cast over the surface of this hatchling's gentle curves is the verdant greenery of a forest -- sunlight dappling through the boughs of the forest's mature trees to pattern the floor below. Her flanks are touched with the kiss of an azure sky, barely visible amongst the multitude of chlorophyllic greens, all reaching to grasp the vital embrace of the sun's spectrum of radiant colours that dapples her neckridges. Dense treetrunk-browns twist upwards from her legs to belly attempting to reach the faintly glowing emerald of a cresented moon high in the ether, shadowed by a spherical umbra of her head. Lush emerald greens mingle with russet fronds and emboldened bronzes over the almost transparent sails of her wings, as leaves fight for existence in the dense umbrage.
"Ah," is the oh so very intelligent remark offered by Auralia, as her feet sink into the warm sand. Then: "I think I can guess -why- she's having that hissy fit," said wryly, as she catches a glimpse of the egg, and then the hatchling that emerges. "Great shards! Grab meat, I suppose, folks. Someone's gotta Impress the things."
Dria has arrived.
Riosin looks around, chewing on her lip. "Does someone have an extra piece I could, well, have, I suppose. I doubt you'll get it back..."
Morgan walks onto the beach with a smile, mind on other things. And then she realizes that there are lots of people here, and she stops, looking around. Hmmm. Then she notices the eggs and the new hatchling and smiles faintly, looking around for a place to best view the hatching.
Elzbietaoffers Roisin a couple of meatrolls
Dria walks purposefully down the beach, raising an eyebrow in surprise as she sees the unexpected sight of a firelizard hatching.
Elzbieta offering a piece of meatroll to the hatchling
Forest Moon Green Hatchling glances around, blinking and shrugging off egg shards. Oh gosh, what are all these big things staring down at her?
Elzbieta smiles encouragingly in her quiet way
Jalynia blinks as the green makes its appearance. Well, that answers that question..."Meat?" she queries the Weyrsecond, looking thoroughly confused. "Where in shells will we get meat at this point?" The seamstress looks around, before getting an idea. Sandals are shucked, and she wades into the water, heedless of her skirts, and before too long comes up with a flopping fish, which she quickly carries back and guts. "Will fish work?"
Aithne strides over from the Coastal Path.
Riosin blinks and flashes a quick smile of thanks to Elzbieta. She peers down at the small 'lizard, and hmmms softly.
Tyrhuil walks over from the Coastal Path.
Auralia kneels in the sand, regarding the green as she leans forwards upon her knees. "Meat, yes," she replies to Jalynia, shrugging, "I bet it would. I think I've used it before. Anyone have even an old crusty meatroll I could borrow. With little chance of getting it back?"
Telinda gestures to the tidal pools towards the other end of the beach, "Spiderclaws down there and if I'm not mistaken.." voice trails off and a moment later a couple of living cavern ladies come down from the path with bowls of meat.
Elzbieta smiles back at Roisin and decides to let Roisin have the green
Dria quirks a corner of her mouth, seeing the weyrwoman preoccupied with the event and - one can guess - rapidly changes whatever plans she has, joining the group to watch the hatching 'lizards.
Tyrhuil walks out head tilted as she listens to all of the noise on the beach. "Uh, am I in the right place?" she asks timidly.
Glossy White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Glossy White Egg suddenly starts to whirl around in circles as the hatchling inside struggles for admittance into the world.
Elzbieta concentrates encouraging thoughts on teh egg as it struggles to split
Glossy White Egg begins to shake -- the hatchling inside struggling for emergence -- the egg now threatening to burst itself open, much like a star turning nova. A sense of doom gathers over its surface, almost as if it expects more.
---*** Star-Burst Blue Hatchling ***---
Shattered over the surface of this ovoid is the blazing remains of a world exploding into smithereens, a rainbow of colours bursting over the midnight blue hide of this hatchling. The fragmented sphere sends out prisms of light that spin in iridescent splendor towards the perimeter -- glowing-reds coalescing chameleon-like to volcanic golds, before cooling to rock-shaped pumice-greys creating a dazzling array over his almost transparent wings. A kaleidoscope of livid-blues detonates across his belly, the calm of the calmed space of the pitch black apex, bruised with ruptured particles -- atoms and molecules, no longer earth -- and spangled stars.
Aithne trails after the ladies, eyeing them rather curiously. Her confusion clears into a soft laugh as she considers the eggs. "I should have know." She murmers as she settles on a log to watch.
Elzbietashe holds her meatroll close to it as she encourages the little beauty to burst free
Auralia engages in a cheerful conversation with one of the living caverns ladies, her face lit by a brilliant smile as she accepts a bowl of meat, and places it in the sand nearby, easily accesable by those around her. "There it goes!" says she, with an exuberant grin, "Nice and quick."
Elzbieta holds the piece of meat near the new blue hatchilin
Morgan looks around and sees a spot to sit, but gets distracted a moment by the shuddering of an egg. Another smile, and she heads in the other direction and gets some meat from one of the bowls. She smiles again as the blue is hatched, and returns to the seat she scoped out earlier. "It's been awhile since I've been to one of these things," she says to noone in particular.
Jalynia peers up at the ladies who just appeared with meat, but finishes reducing her catch to a pile of little fishbits before she darts over to claim a double handful of the wet, gooey stuff...oh, ew. "Ew," she actually voices out loud, peering at the lumps of wet, bloody meat. "How can anyone actually -eat- this stuff?" Nonetheless, the girl proffers both a chunk of herdbeast and a fishbit to the hatchlings.
Elzbietatalks softly in her soft voice, "here you are, little gut, her's a little snack, it will take the edge off our hunger
Tyrhuil swallows quietly, staying in the background and looking lost.
Kayjay says "Get close, folks, talk to them, sweetly, they are suckers for flattery." Giggling, she answers Avan's angry chitter. "It -is- so true.""
Forest Moon Green Hatchling snorts as glances around, darting in amid the legs and things, grabbing the odd morsel of food from fingers that are almost bitten in her haste.
Dria smiles at her fellow beach-gathers but - of course, they're preoccupied too. She chuckles and with a moment's shrug and a quick glance over her shoulder, strides down to the beach's edge, where she scans for spiderclaws.
Riosin smiles over at Auralia. "Amazing how fast they manage to shed the shells." She dips her hand into the bowl of meat and finds a small piece, settling on her knees.
Aithne snickers softly at Jaly's words. "I think those were my exact words when they handed me the bucket after I impressed Araneth."
Elzbietatells teh little blue what a brave bold fellow he is, and dangles the meat jsut in from of his nose
Star-Burst Blue Hatchling takes a moment longer, watching his green sibling's tactics, but decides otherwise for now, standing still, eyes reaching up and down the lines and seeing what might interest him.
"Me, too," replies Auralia to Morgan, upon hearing the girl's comment. "Not since--well, ages ago. They're cute, though," she admits, waving her meat with a rhythmic jiggle, her hand flicking back and forth. She nods quickly towards Riosin, "It's true. Even if they're slow for the rest of their life, they hatch fast."
Elzbietacrawls closer to teh blue, praising his wisdom and intelligence of standing and waiting for her to come to him
Sharia strides over from the Coastal Path.
V'tali strides over from the Coastal Path.
L'mir walks over from the Coastal Path.
Tyrhuil swallows quietly, approaching the sound of people and hoping not to run into anyone.
Elzbieta she holds the meat even closer to his little mouth
Star-Burst Blue Hatchling contemplates Elzbieta, even as she considers him, his little head cocking to one side as he does so, and his wings rustling - let's get them dry, at least that first.
Maralita walks over from the Coastal Path.
V'tali trots down the beach, making a beeline for the scads of people over there. He munches a piece of fruit, and comes to a halt near the edge of the crowd as he realizes what's going on. A grin spreads across his face.
Elzbieta croons "oh, such a fine brave fellow,"
Morgan settles down comfortably, placing her legs where they won't get in anybody's way--underneath her. She smiles at Auralia. "They are cute, yes. But I haven't spent much time at Weyrs for turns, though I grew up at one." She starts to break the meat she has into even littler pieces, looking back up to watch the hatchlings and the progress of the hatching as she does.
Jalynia winces, and pulls her fingers away rapidly as the bit of meat is nipped out of them far too quickly for her peace of mind. "Shardin' heck, they're quick," she exclaims, before grabbing another bit of meat. "I sure hope I can keep my fingers in one piece through this," she mutters under her breath, so intent on the chaos before her that she doesn't even notice V'tali and L'mir coming into the area.
Elzbieta can't help smiling, almost giggling as she crouches down aon all fours, continueing to talk to teh blue of his handsomeness
Tyrhuil is sighing, walking closer to the crowd, and hoping she's in the right spot.
Riosin laughs. "Seems that way with littles, sometimes too..." She looks at the two hatchings, crossing her non-booted foot over her booted on as she sits back on her heels. This brings a soft cry of pain and she sets about removing her other boot. A few moments later, her attention's back on the hatchlings and the others joining the circle.
L'mir walks onto the beach, coming to a stop at the edge of the crowd. He lifts up, trying to see what's going on before him. "Ahh." he says with a smile, realizing what's taking place.
Star-Burst Blue Hatchling makes his decision, grabbing Elzbieta's morsel offering, and then crooning up to her. More?
Sharia steps gingerly down the beach, grimacing as sand patters into her shoes. "Of all the dragon-forsaken ideas," she mutters to the rider that accompanies her before both her brows raise in surprise to see the Southern Weyrwoman out here in the crowd. "Well I'll be a wherry." She walks closer and only then does she seem to spot the firelizard hatching in progress.
Eirene walks over from the Coastal Path.
Dria crouches by a pool of water near the beach's edge, belt-knife in hand. She pauses a moment, then stabs, grabbing with hand immediately afterwards, securely one spiderclaw, thrown over on its back beside her. A second goes down a moment later and, grabbing both so the claws don't hurt her, she carries them back up the beach to the crowd, where she finishes disassembling the fresh corpses for firelizard meat, offering it to her neighbors as well.
Elzbietafoll:feed more meat to blue
Aithne offers V'tali a grin as she spots him and then L'mir. "This is the place to be," She notes with a grin.
The Star-Burst Blue Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Elzbieta, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
Auralia flicks some blood from one of her long fingers, blond head nodding sagely at Morgan's comment and meat still wiggling cautiously. "At a Weyr? Which one, then?" She speaks slowly, with a lazy lilt, leaning back on her knees again. "With littles? I suppose it might me." Wrinkle her nose, does Auralia, nodding towards Riosin.
Elzbietaelzbieta hurriedly offers another piece of meatrool
Maralita blinks as she comes down the beach. Blink, then, in a loud oice, "What's going on?"
Forest Moon Green Hatchling will of course, just by her very nature of being female take longer to decide than her sibling. She zooms around, like the tiny creature she is, avoiding those treetrunk legs, but getting food all the same.
V'tali laughs as Aithne addresses him, "I guess so!" A quick glance back catches sight of L'mir, and he smiles and nods politely to the man, before turning back toward the hatching. Taking another bite of his fruit, he angles in for a better view.
Matte White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Matte White Egg spins in its tiny wallow, unwilling to leave its home.
Elzbieta hurriedly soothes the little blue hatchling who tarts up at the sound of her voice
Tyrhuil has disconnected.
Matte White Egg rocks to and fro, a crack appearing gracefully down the middle, bisecting the shell of its surface neatly in half. In the embrace of a new dawn, born forth from its shell, a new hatchling faces the world. With a cant of a yolk-laden wing and a shrug full of shards, he starts his quest.
---*** Cocky Scoundrel Brown Hatchling ***---
Belligerent to the core, this little brown is just that: little. Diminutive almost to a fault, most blues and many greens are larger than this pugnacious fellow. Perhaps this is the reason for his almost pugilistic attitude, though that animosity is tempered by a remarkable sense of duty and accountability. His dark ocher coloring is brightened by shades of bronze across his back, almost like a cloak down his back and across his wings. A cap of gold covers headknobs and muzzle, just a dusting of the shade. The rest is a rich dark mahogany, coating him from tail to clawtip.
Eirene pulls back a bit, trying to stay out of anyone's way.
Maralita blinks, "Firelizards!" and runs down the beach, Serenity scolding at her back.
Jalynia is still totally oblivious to whomever is in the area--which is probably just as well, because she'd be likely to have heart failure if she noticed. There are things to be said for total focus. The fishbit is waggled out, somewhat experimentally..."Are you sure they like fish?" she asks, turning enough to eye Auralia dubiously.
Morgan smiles, finishing her attempt to break the meat pieces up, and putting them down in front of her, leaving a few pieces in her hand. She smiles at Auralia. "Ista. Then I apprenticed as a Harper. Now I'm posted as a Journeyrank to Southern Hold." She looks over in time to see the newest hatched. "My, how small and cute that brown is!"
Dria offers Eirene - as a conveniently near person - pieces of spiderclaw, "Here." She smiles, offering the raw meat with her hands to the woman, as she takes another piece to offer to the firelizards herself.
Riosin comments to her neighbor at the brown hatches, "Now there's a tiny one! Didn't realize they came that small...especially as a brown. Maybe it's an oddly colored green?"
Cocky Scoundrel Brown Hatchling strides, and yes, it's almost a swagger, over to Morgan, and deftly takes all the meat she's lining up in front of her, croons to her - let's placate the females - then swaggers away again.
Eirene blinks, finding her hands full of spiderclaw meat. "But...what?" She looks a bit lost, glancing around at the other for direction.
Elzbieta smiles as Star-Burst Blue Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
Maralita hops in, "Can I get one, can I can I can I?" Serenity flits around and lands on Mara's head. Pay attention to me! To me I say! his eyes say. Some babysitter Mara is.
Aithne offers Eirene an encouraging smile. "Now, get as close as you can to the hatchling, without touching. See if he likes spiderclaw"
"I don't know it, Jalynia, but I think mine's eaten some, before. Iesath likes fish, though." Auralia grins wryly towards Jalynia, dipping her shoulders. Her head turns towards Morgan, and she emits an affirmative understanding, head nodding quickly. "Ista, ah! And a Harper? I admit, I should have looked at your knot. Lazy thing that I am." She turns her head away again, catching another glance at the hatchlings. So far, the people seem to be catching her attention more, but she gives her meat a quick wiggle as well.
Dria chuckles at Eirene's reaction and moves aside, patting a non-spider-claw-corpse bit of ground, "Come, sit. Here, if you hold out the 'claw meat - like this - and wiggle it a bit. The firelizards like that." She encourages.
Forest Moon Green Hatchling finally stands still, and now takes a measured look around her. Who are these people, and why are there here?
Sharia starts to make her way through the crowd to the Senior Weyrwoman, elbowing a couple people sharply on the way. Halfway to the goldrider, she apparently thinks better of that idea and just stops, frowning as if uncertain what to do now, surrounded as she is by much taller people. Attention moves to the progress of the hatching, then back to the crowd as she places her hands on her hips in annoyance. "Great. All the way here and I can't even get through to her."
Eirene looks a little overwhelmed by the whole thing, but she crouches down and holds out a bit of spiderclaw in the direction of the nearest hatchling, half-smiling uncertainly.
Morgan smiles. "I think it just likes to be different perhaps. There's gotta be a few of us out there." She grins as she watches the brown. Then blinks as he comes up to her, but smiles even wider when he croons to her. She chuckles as he moves on. "He'll be a handful."
Elzbietabacks out of the circle carefullly, protecting the little blue on her shoulder as she continuosly pops gobbets of meat into the maw of her new friend
Jalynia blinks in surprise at the mention of her home island. "Ista? Weyr or Hold?" she asks, momentarily distracted from her efforts not to get munched by overeager lizards. Distracted enough that she drops a piece of meat. "Shells," she mutters, picking up the offending bit and trying to brush it off as best as she can. "I hope they like fish. Stuff's slippery as all get out, though."
Kayjay continues to scritch Avan as the green excitedly croons, chitters or scolds, depending on what -she- thinks the hatchlings should be doing at any given moment. "Hush, love, watch, and see."
Maralita gets her eyes set on Forest Moon Green Hatchling, and she's off.. stealing some meat from, oops, someone's bowl, a giggling someone who giggles more after Mara's little childish exitement, pokes through the crowd to get a good look. Nope, not pushy, who knows what that meat is for? Not her..
Dria smiles encouragingly to Eirene, letting the younger woman sit further forward in the circle, and closer to the firelizards, while she too looks charmed by the newly hatched 'lizards and wriggles the snippet of meat in her hand.
Cocky Scoundrel Brown Hatchling swaggers up to Eirene, his delicate muzzle sniffling that spiderclaw before he takes it from her hand. Another croon - swoon lady, swoon, he's such a scoundrel - and then he looks around. More food, but where?
L'mir moves out of the way so Elzbieta can pass by. "You've gotten a nice one there. Congratulations." he offers to her with a wide grin.
Auralia half stands, blue eyes falling upon Sharia, a grin upon her lips. "Welcome to this fray of meat waving and hungry hatchlings, Craftmaster. I'd imagine Telinda's slightly busy right now, but that this rate, she won't be long. Will you wait, and perhaps try for one of these things yourself?" Meat still there, but only wiggling ever so often.
Eirene giggles softly at the tiny brown's obvious attitude, nearly forgetting about the rest of the meat in her other hand. Belatedly she holds out another piece, but it looks like the little 'lizard's attention is already moving on...
Riosin eyes the brown, the meat held out in her hand. "My but he's like my cousin. All swagger and bravado...Faranth's gift to women," she says, laughing.
V'tali continues to wade slowly toward the front of the crowd, trying not to step on anyone, lifting and placing his feet gingerly. He makes slow progress, and doesn't seem in much of a hurry. He notices Jalynia, down on the ground, with fish in her hands, and his grin spreads.
Forest Moon Green Hatchling zooms over to someone else, and grabs yet another morsel from their hand, Maralita's is taken too, perhaps even before she notices, and then another poor souls - opps, barely missed fingers there.
Morgan notices that all her meat is now gone and raises an eyebrow at the brown. Well. She stands up briefly and gets some more meat from one of the bowls, taking her seat again. She does *almost* the same thing she did before, by breaking up the meat into little pieces. But no, she isn't putting it out in front of her *this* time. In her lap it goes, no matter the mess it is now causing.
Maralita gets the gyst of it, and waves the meat around at the green, "Hello, there.." and quickly gets more meat in her hand.
Elzbietagives an offhand thanks ot L'mir, but is she pretty much engrossed with keeping ahead of the greedy little thing constantly demanding more
Jalynia winces reflexively as some poor soul almost gets their fingers snipped off by that little green, and wrinkles her nose at the whole chaotic scene before her. "Things are ravenous," she comments under her breath to nobody in particular, trying desperately to get a good grip on the bits of meat that seem bound and determined to squirm their way out of her fingers.
Sharia inclines her head to Auralia as the Weyrsecond greets her. "Weaverhall's duties to Southern, and yes, I can see that she's quite busy at the moment." Blue eyes flicker towards the goldrider before returning to Auralia. "And I will wait, as I seem to have no choice, being I'm here on business. As for trying for one of the hatchlings..." She sighs and shrugs. "We'll see. One's been quite a handful as it is." But those closest might notice the Craftmaster's hand does stray towards an unprotected bowl of scraps.
Cocky Scoundrel Brown Hatchling oohs, turning his head over his shoulder to look back at Eirene. She *does* like him! He spreads his now dry wings and flutters over towards her, taking her other morsel with a chirp, and chittering something at her - laugh it up fuzzball, well, maybe she's not a fuzzball, but she's bigger than him.
Forest Moon Green Hatchling takes a measured look at Maralita, and then hops over, snatching that meat from her fingers, but not dashing away this time. Got some more lady?
Kayjay chuckles at the brown hatchling. "Cocky, isn't he?"
Maralita produces more, "You're pretty, did you know that, little hatchling. I think I like you lots. Y'know, you could always come visit me if you'd like. Wonderful company I keep." eyes pointing to blue Serenity watching the hatchlings with head cocked.
Dria breaks into a grin, "That's it." She approves as the brown returns to Eirene.
"Duties, most certainly, to the Weavercraft," agrees Auralia, still smiling, and perched upon her knees, her body swung around to face Sharia, her hands still in front of her, by the firelizards. "I'm sorry that you've caught her at such a--inconvenient time. Still, it all comes out all right, doesn't it?" Hand in the scraps bowl is noted, with a twinkle of her eye, as her head, at least for the moment, returns to the spectacle in front of her. "Ack -- I've missed all these impressions. Who got the first ones?"
Eirene nods at Kayjay's comment with a grin, quickly dangling another bit of spiderclaw meat in front of the little fellow. Her grin gets a little silly as she addresses the brown, "Hey now, don't take that attitude with me. Who has the food here, huh?"
Elzbietahas found a place to sit at teh edge of the crowd and feed her new companion more as she realizes she must find a neam for her new friend
Leah walks over from the Coastal Path.
The Forest Moon Green Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Maralita, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
Aithne glances over as she hears Auralia's words, the over to Sharia to offer her a warm smile. "Southern's Duties." She offers as she shifts on her log to make room should the craftmaster wish to sit.
Maralita giggles!!!
Cocky Scoundrel Brown Hatchling snorts at Eirene, you have the food, of course dummy, well, you did, but now he's got it. Isn't he smart?
Lustrous White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Lustrous White Egg swivels and rocks in its precarious position. Elidi looks at it and shoves it with her snout, causing it to roll completely out of the mound.
Maralita smiles as Forest Moon Green Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
The Cocky Scoundrel Brown Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Eirene, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
The brownrider smirks at Eirene's stance. "That's right, show who's boss." She bursts out in laughter at the brown hatchings clear reply. Her gaze does turn to Elzbieta, however, a soft smile on her face. "Handsome new friend."
Lustrous White Egg rumbles -- a warning almost of promise -- as the egg rotates once on its axis. Then, by almost unknown means, its stops completely still -- no movement is visible. Softly, a blow sounds. Once. Then again. A third time, gathering speed now, as if gaining momentum.
---*** Black Hole Bronze Hatchling ***---
Jet-bronze smudges of colour caress the surface of this firelizards, its lines harsh and delineated at every opportunity. Charcoal black striations, with impending single notes of ochre, collude over his flanks, whilst cavernous coppers sweep down from his neckridges, warning of its devastating firepower. Multitudinous armies of blinking lights flicker over his wingsails, to reflect brilliant vermillion, cobalt, cadmium and vindian rainbow spheres -- tighter points of blazing white stars embracing the structured outlines of his pinions.
Elzbieta lloks up, her eyes shining a deep forest green," he isisn't he? she replies
Jalynia whistles softly in response to two almost simultaneous Impressions, and scrambles a bit more as the meat in her fingers slides all over the place. "Okay, this is gross," she comments, again to herself--though the commentary dies off into a low whistle of appreciation at the bronze's appearance. "Now there's a pretty little fellow," she murmurs approvingly.
Eirene grins and drops another bit of meat into the little brown's waiting maw, drawing him closer. "You're cute, even if you do have awful manners." Nothing but a sneer and a creeling demand for food in return. Oh well...
Dria glances over her shoulder and offers Leah a chunk of spiderclaw with a welcoming smile before returning to dangle her own piece before - she does a double take, seeing the darkly bronze hatchling, and offers the crustacean.
Eirene smiles as Cocky Scoundrel Brown Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
"Most of the time," Sharia agrees dryly with Auralia before blinking at the bloody scrap that's somehow found its way into her hand, surprise sparking in her eyes. "Now why did I do that?" she mutters rhetorically before smiling her thanks to the Junior Weyrwoman and joining her on the log, arranging her skirts carefully with her un-besmeared hand. "Might as well give it a go, since I'm already filthy." And with that said, the Craftmaster dangles her scrap a bit listlessly towards the hatchlings.
Maralita grins at the little green, who sniffs and ignores Mara in place of food, "Searcher, that's your name, isn't it? Because you had to look around, hm?"
V'tali finally reaches the front, or as close as can be found. He drops to the ground, wedging himself in between a couple meat-waggling folks, near to Jalynia. He glances over at the seamstress then asks, casually, "Have any more of that fish, you want to share? I don't think they like fruit so much," he adds as he pops the last bite of his fruit into his mouth.
Morgan moves the bloody meat she currently has in her hand to the other and back again. She blinks at the bronze. "Wow." That's all she says at first, just looking at him. Finally she says something else. "Wow." Okay, the same thing over again. "He's so beautiful isn't he? I've never seen one quite like that." She grins. "Okay, handsome, not beautiful." She goes back to watching.
Iridescent White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Iridescent White Egg moves briefly before stopping. It moves again. Stops. Moves. It can't seem to make up its mind.
Riosin eyes the new hatchling. "Not as quick as his sibs," she comments to whoever happens to hear. She continues to hold out her meat, half paying attention.
Auralia passes congratulatory smiles towards those who have a hatchling upon their shoulders, scrunching her hand where the blood has dried upon it, and gone stiff. Head turns back to Sharia, and she laughs, "Might as well, indeed! Better than sitting behind, and laughing at those of us who get into the sand, and try."
Leah skips in looking around. She notices the firelizards. Grining to the person holding out the meat for her shgrabs it and holds out the piece of spiderclaw,"Look Firelizards!"
Elzbietabegins to slow teh pace of her feeding and strokees the little fellow eye- ridges in between bites, giggling as her buts her hand imperiously for more food
Iridescent White Egg huddles closer to another egg, almost as if remembers the age old saying of closeness brings warmness, trembling now as the hatchling inside decides to try the warmth of the sands, rather than this shell. Sand grains drift, like the snow on its surface, baring the softened edges of the egg as it wobbles.
---*** Polar frosted Blue Hatchling ***---
The bitter chill of a snow-bound landscape benumbs the hide of this tiny blue hatchling -- a million shades of white and grey intermingled with the sapphire to become barely discernible from each other. Drifting over his wings, glacial schisms of icebergs float in the pewter blue of an arctic sea, inky striations fissuring their surface. Frost rimes his neckridges, images representative of crystal icicles dripping from each spine, painted with the slate of a hostile sky. The effect is softened only by the delicate patterns of snowflakes flurrying down his belly, to drift in masses of chalk-blue drifts -- smudges of grizzled aquamarine marking the tracks of living creatures.
Maralita dances around on her bottom. She blinks at all the 'lizards and oooohs.
Jalynia isn't paying an ounce of attention to whomever it is that just asked her that question. She pushes a few of the fishbits over in V'tali's direction, absently. "Go for it. There's herdbeast too, if you want. I dunno if they like fish." The absentminded soliloquy is cut off by the appearance of the blue.
Eirene continues feeding the demanding little brown, but she oohs and ahhs over the newer hatchlings as well--despite the shrill protests of her new friend.
Searcher snorts and nips gently on Mara's fingers for more meat. "Ooh, sorry."
Sharia snorts in reply to the Weyrsecond. "Likely I'd find a different reason to laugh," the Craftmaster mutters, glaring at the scrap of meat that she holds gingerly between her fingers. "And that no doubt means there will be someone laughing at me for all this foolishness."
Black Hole Bronze Hatchling holds up his head and looks around, one pace forward, then another, almost as though to a measure - dum dum dum - of a harper's drum. There's a certain aura of inenvitability about him as he starts his quest for domination. Er. Impression.
L'mir stands off to the side of the group, leaning against a piece of driftwood to watch the excitement. He grins as he watches the Impressions, a fond look in those brown eyes as if remembering past events.
Morgan blinks as another hatchling makes its way out of its egg. "That was quick, after the last one. Wow, these all are quite interesting hatchlings." She glances around to see if she can spot the gold who clutched them, and finds her near the mound. "Oh there she is." She looks at her for a moment, before turning back to the hatchlings.
Dria watches the blue hatchling being born and smiles, head tilted to one side, the expression making her look younger than she is. She looks back to the bronze and scoots out of Leah's way, so she too has room in the circle.
Kayjay blinks, eyes drawn to that Bronze hatchling despite herself. She does find herself leaning over, to get a better look. "Now that is a fellow who will demand attention."
V'tali coughs back a chuckle as he is impersonally handed some fish. "Thank you," he replies, and, thus armed, turns his attention onto the hatchlings. He holds a piece forward, adding to Jaly's comment, "Well, I guess we'll find out, one way or the other," as he does so.
Maralita frowns as she runs out of meat.. "Uh-ohh.." and looks around, frowing. "Anybody got more?"
Auralia laughs, her cheerful words returning to the Craftmaster, "Oh, quite possible. Laugh? At you? No; I think they'll just laugh at us lesser types who're getting themselves, really, really sandy." Ruefully, she moves her knee, rubbing at it. "Darn sand is hard." Blue is noted, with a thoughtful, "Sort of like Ticcy, I guess."
Leah inchs closer to the hatchhlings, using her small size to sneak pas the larger people around. Her poor stuffed dragon is behind her, nearly forgotten, with one hand as she holds out the spiderclaw with the other.
Dria looks dubiously down at her pile and calls to Maralita, "A little bit." handing over a sixth of a spiderclaw's body.
Riosin watches quietly, a soft smile spread across her features as she watches the two newest hatchlings. She holds out her meat, unmindful of its drippiness as it stains the sand below her hand.
Eirene scoots back a bit, making room for others as she reaches for more meat from a nearby bowl. She sets some of it on a convient bit of driftwood, popping piece after piece into the brown's mouth. "Well, what are we going to call you, then?" His look is clear: Shells if I know, but keep that food coming!
Maralita smiles softly, "Thanks, Dria.."
"Mmm." Jalynia still isn't paying any attention to whom her current conversation partner is. She's too busy trying to hang on to that squirmy little bit of fish that seems totally intent on escaping her fingers. "Dangit," she curses, as the fishbit flies out of her fingers to land closer to the egg mound. Muttering under her breath, she finds another bit of fish to proffer.
Polar frosted Blue Hatchling casts a gaze around, a gaze of imperious cold, first Sharia, then Dria, then V'tali. As he stumbles about, sand is kicked up near him, drifting like snowflakes to dapple his hide.
Elzbieta realizes she is running out of meat, rather than chance the chaos arund the mound, she moves instead throught the woods, carefull balancing her blue and towards teh kitchens
Maralita watches the blue andd giggles, "He fits in well with Pern. Awful weather all over.."
Morgan toys with a piece of meat in her hand, twisting it around with a few fingers while the rest of the meat that isn't hidden in her lap is clutched in the other hand. She looks over at the bronze and smiles at him. "Yes, I think he'll definitely make someone's life interesting."
Elzbieta walks toward the Coastal Path.
"And you wouldn't laugh at me getting all bloody and sandy for no reason?" Sharia asks dubiously of Auralia, without taking her eyes from the hatchlings. "After all, if that little one can look to be laughing at me..." She flicks her meat scrap in the blue hatchling's direction as he gazes at her, indicating whom she speaks of. "...Then why can't a weyrsecond?"
Kayjay picks up a bit of meat that has been dropped on the sand, brushes it off with her fingertips and shrugs as she walks towards the bronze. "No one is paying the least bit attention to you, are they? And here you are, hungry as all get out." She shakes her hair, trying to get Avan to behave. "Oh, stop it silly, I know what I am doing." She drops the piece of meat as she tries to get the green perched on top of her head, to shut her wings so she can see. "Sharding firelizard."
"That sounds like a curse." Aithne offers to Morgan, face alight in amusement.
V'tali chuckles aloud this time as the blue's frosty gaze passes over him. "Well, then," he murmurs, and turns his attention to the dark little bronze. He seems to find himself suffering he same trials as Jalynia, though, as the fish seems to take on a life of its own in its efforts to escape. Short nails dig into it, barely keeping the piece from flopping into the sand, and he grumbles under his breath briefly.
Morgan grins at Aithne. "I'm not sure, but maybe not all curses are bad?" She chuckles to herself before turning back to the hatchlings before her.
Polar frosted Blue Hatchling grabs the meat morsel out of the air, catching it before it even hits the sand, and chirrups a thank you to Sharia.
Dria looks momentarily hopeful as the blue hatchling looks in her direction, but no, he wanders on. She rests her hand for a moment, then holds up the worn bit of 'claw meat, waiting until a firelizard looks her way before wriggline it.
Auralia hesitates, quirky grin widening as she thinks, or appears to do as such. "No, not really. Not unless the blood dried all covered in sand, and you were covered in it. -That's- amusing. But currently, there's nothing to laugh at." She turns her head, eyeing the blue a moment, then laughs, "Perhaps I have more sense?"
Polar frosted Blue Hatchling spares no second chance, wiggling over to Dria and the wiggling meat, grabbing it right out of her hand. Icy he may be, or is that shy? He looks back over his shoulder as he heads away, maybe...?
Jalynia is beyond grumbling. She's into muttering creative things about the fishbit's probable ancestry. "Oh, forget it," she finally says, and sets to making an enticing little pile of combined fish and herdbeast, a bit in front of her, arranging the pieces in the most alluring manner she can manage, making a little trail of the bits.
Serenity pouts as Searcher gets all the attention, and then moves to dive at a random hopeful, clipping meat neatly out of their hand.
Dria freezes her hand as the hatchling starts to walk aware, unsure what to do, but eyes glued to the little one.
Leah stops as she finds herself near the edge of the crowd. She wiggles it so energitically that she drops it not once but several times each time picking up the spiderclaw and shaking it once again.
Kayjay sighs and brings wipes off the increasingly sand covered morsel of meat. "Just cause you think he is -cute, Avan!" She tries to balance a warbling green firelizard on top of her head, keep her sari organized and dangle the morsel before the bronze at the same time.
Eirene grins, nudges Dria encouragingly. "Go on, get his attention back!"
"Obviously more than I do," Sharia replies to Auralia as she eyes the icy-looking hatchling. "You're a little snitch," she mutters towards him as she, too, steals a piece of meat from a nearby bowl - this time a piece of wherry meat. "You'll get no more free meals from me, polite though you may be."
Black Hole Bronze Hatchling walks, a measured beat, back towards Kayjay, taking an offered morsel, and then seeming to search her face for something.
Auralia eyes the icy hatchling again, commenting, "Cheeky, that. Meat is supposed to be rewarded. More sense than you? Oh, no, I could never agree to that." She's teasing, her voice light. "Well, maybe not. But what is sense, anyway? Who wants to always be sensible." She drops her meet, stretching her hands again, then takes it up again, regarding it. "Getting dry. Maybe some of them actually like dry meat."
Coruscating White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Coruscating White Egg twirls like a dancer caught in a toss at a gather.
Kayjay smiles down at the bronze and giggles as Avan disappears and reappears with a half eaten meatroll in her forelegs, which the green drops into her pet's hand. "Rather a huge hint, There, Avan." The brownrider dangles the little piece of roll in front of the bronze. "Seems someone has a crush on you."
Kellah strides over from the Coastal Path.
Morgan smiles. "Newly hatched are so wonderful to watch. And them finding someone is the best." She looks around, asking everyone and nobody in particular. "Did any hatch before I got here? Oh, and congratulations to everyone who has impressed one so far." She grins and turns back to look at the hatchlings, going back to moving her meat from one hand to the other.
Coruscating White Egg starts to sway as if branches and boughs were bending to meet the sweep of the wind. Sand sprinkles from its hollow as, instead of reaching for the sun's embrace, it tries to bury itself in the protective confines of the hot sands.
---*** Steamy swamp Green Hatchling ***---
Impending clouds of steam darken the surface of this hatchling's hide --gathering to deepen in hue as the heat of the day increases. Glooming light, swamped with bursts of torrential rain, attempts to break the darkness of the jungle of her wingsails, whilst wisps of steam coil from the murky, ashy depths of an expanse of water that laps against the shoreline of verdant greenery. Vines creep around her legs, boughs of mahogany-brown branches tipped with leafs and buds of jade, hanging free to shadow her belly, providing veils of obscurity around what appears to be huts made of loam brown mud.
Black Hole Bronze Hatchling seems to find whatever he's looking for, chittering to Avan as he takes the offered morsel, snapping it quickly out of fingers.
The Black Hole Bronze Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Kayjay, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
"Being sensible gets work done quicker, and gets you what you want as well," Sharia comments as she reaches forward with the wherry slice. "Like that blue. He was sensible enough to grab the meat that got to close to him, wasn't he?"
Maralita peers over at Coruscating White Egg, "It's getting pretty jumpy.. ooh, another green! Greens are wonderful, really they are.." she grins and bouncies over to Eirene, while Serenity returns with his prize.
Dria fails to assist Kellah immediately, the way she has others, since her attention is claimed by the hatchling before her. She tentatively wriggles the bit of rather worn-out spiderclaw.
Kayjay smiles as Black Hole Bronze Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
Jalynia flicks a glance over as the bronze found what it was looking for, before giving a slight smile to the green that appears out of the spinning egg. "Nice, that," she comments, before going back to her fishbit piling and arranging.
Kellah blinks
V'tali grins up at Kayjay, "Now you have TWO little spies! I swear that Avan of yours was watching every minute YOU weren't, when I was a candidate!" Shaking his head ruefully, he turns his attention abck to the eggs. He gives his fish a jovial little waggle, not at anything in particular - just to waggle a fishbit, apparently.
Kellah walks over to the group.
Auralia bleats, cheering, "Kayjay! Well done." She's missed most of the other impressions, during her conversation, which is continued with, "Does it? Well--I suppose there are advantages. It certainly keeps a person safer during threadfall. And when dealing with other people." She wrinkles her nose, nodding, "He was, that's true." She finally gives up with her current piece of meat, apparently, grabbing a new one, and leaving the old resting on the ground, all sandy. Wiggle, goes the new one, with animated vivaciousness.
Steamy swamp Green Hatchling shakes it's wings free of egg shards, tossing them in several directions and then croons - someone here? Someone? For me?
Kayjay rolls her eyes as she continues to feed the firelizard, but her expression gives her away. The brownrider is besotted by the little critter, yep. The fact that Avan continues to drop messy globs of meat in the general direction of Kayjay doesn't help matters much, however.
Kayjay looks up, sheepish. "Well, Avan wanted him."
Riosin oooos softly. "There's a new one," she says to the person sitting next to her. She leans to one side. "Green" is the pronouncement. "And a lovely one at that."
"And one must always get what Avan wants," says Auralia, giggling.
Maralita nods in agreement wit Rio, "They're all pretty."
Kellah watches quietly. "neat"
Steamy swamp Green Hatchling sends a glance to Riosin. Does she have the force required to move her from her spot? Perhaps.
Sharia gives a single nod in the Weyrsecond's direction. "Aye, it certainly does keep people safer during 'fall. Which is what I wanted to speak to your Weyrwoman about, in fact." She leaves that comment dangling, just like the wherry does from her fingertips.
Polar frosted Blue Hatchling snorts, and sits down in the sand. Where'd all his food go?
Eirene sighs happily as the little brown slows down a bit, chirping sleepily rather than shrieking with hunger. She finally looks up, then smiles around at the group. Just for the fun of it, she tosses a bit of meat in the general direction of the eggs.
Leah pulls her hand that is holding the stuffed dragon in front of her. She hugs the dirty toy to her as she absentmindly holds onto the scrap of meat. Looking down at the toy she nods,"Yes Beranth. I bet they are hungry."
Auralia says, quietly, eyebrows raised, "Oh? Anything you could, perhaps, divulge to me?" She's perfectly cheerful about it, her head facing the hatchlings for once, meat wiggling with certainty.
Jalynia finally finds a largish chunk of wet, dripping, freshly-hacked-up wherry that's large enough to stay in her fingers rather than skating all over kingdom come. Happy, she waggles the thing about a bit, the meat making a slow, slightly silly looking circle as she does so. There's a limit to how dignified meat can look, after all.
Searcher looks at her blue clutchmate and starts butting his way down Mara's arm in a snotty sort of way, waggling her tail around in the dust in a silly kind of dance.
Kellah looks at the hatchlings. "wow, think i could impress one?"
Kayjay grins as she catches a messy blob of meat from Avan's missle bombings and feeds it to the little bronze. "Of course, Auralia... she is rather. umm insistant." She giggles at V'tali. "Well, err, we shall see, shan't we?" She peers at the bronze. "Name, name. what to name you, you handsome thing."
Cieria walks over from the Coastal Path.
K'laarn walks over from the Coastal Path.
Dria rubs her forehead and briefly rests her arm from the strain of wriggling meat, picking up one of her few remaining fresher pieces of spiderclaw and, after a moment and a doubtful glance at the blue, rests her elbow on her knee and crouches, and offers it.
K'laarn walks down onto the sandy beach and smiles to see the collection of folks therin.
Riosin watches the green's glance go to her. She huhs and waggles her meat at the little green. "Hey, there," she says softly.
Cieria wanders down the beach, from hearing voices from the path above.
Shadowy White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Shadowy White Egg slides from its mound and almost knocks Elidi into a heap of gold hide. She snorts as she turns around, looking a little worried.
Kellah watches the egg.
Polar frosted Blue Hatchling warbles happily at Dria and runs on over, grabbing the meat. Does she have anymore for him? More? Just for him?
Shadowy White Egg shakes, a building sound issuing from within -- first its a tapping sound, like a woodcrafters axe chipping bark from a tree, the next an impending whooshing sound as leaves rustle against each other, heralding the passage of the resounding crack, as the tree trunk breaks, although in this case it is the egg shell -- fragments splintering over the surface as the hatchling emerges to face new interests.
L'mir presses through the crowd toward Kayjay, then squats down near her. "Great color you have there." he chuckles, moving closer to note the changes of color on the lizard's hide.
---*** Cloud city Bronze Hatchling ***---
The gentle hues of a sky pictured from amidst the clouds -- no sun visible although it appears to be offering a parting valediction to the day, embracing the once lustrous azure blue with smudges of coral-pinks across the hide of this hatchling. The backdrop for this bronze is veiled with the swan-whites of ethereal clouds that wisp over his wingsails as if pulled in multitudinous directions by a warm summer breeze. An elliptical shape in buffed creams brushes the curves of his belly, the odd sparkle of light reflecting from the depths as twilight indigos begin to sweep towards his legs, heralding the imminent nightfall.
Maralita blinks, more White Eggs. "Which one? I wondder.. Oh, Bronze! Marvelous." thouroughly enjoying this as she gets her green back undder control.
Steamy swamp Green Hatchling catches the meat wiggle, and heads that way, a little uncertain. Is it possible? Can the force be that strong to make her want to eat.. oh yes, it surely can! She snatches that piece of meat.
Kayjay smiles over at L'mir. "He is, isn't he."
Dria does a double take as the 'lizard returns to her and scrounges, grabs another piece of 'claw, a larger chunk this time, and wriggles it to the polar blue hatchling with a grin of amusement.
Morgan watches the latest egg to make any movements, very curious about what mystery that one will hold. She smiles on seeing the bronze. She nods on hearing Maralita's comment. "That's a good word for him."
Cieria looks slightly awed as she stops on the edge of the path, catching sight of the little ones and just gasping softly.
V'tali twists around to beam angelically at Kayjay, for just a moment. Then dark eyes flicker over the hatchlings again, and off them to the slip-n-slidey egg. "Crazy..." he breathes, looking bemused, and then it spills its contents out onto the sand. Oh yeah, that's what the fish is for, right? He recalls the tidbits in his hands, and holds one forward once more.
Riosin dips her hand in the bowl of meat next to her and offers the green another piece. "Have another?" she asks, holding it out and minding her fingers.
Eirene ooohs at the little bronze, eyes lighting. "Gorgeous. That's probably the most unusual bronze I've ever seen." So speaks the expert.
Sharia appears to consider Auralia's question, absently watching the hatchlings as she thinks. "Aye, perhaps I should, since there's no telling when I'll get to speak with her. The fact of the matter is, we've got a couple fields of flax nearly ready for the retching pools, and I wanted to make sure there'd be enough able-bodied riders to protect those fields when thread next falls. The posted farmcrafters brought the matter to my attention earlier." She spares a glance towards the Craftmaster of the Farmcraft as she states this.
Kellah gets some meat.
Jalynia whistles softly as another bronze appears from the chaotic mess of hatchlings and eggs and people wanting meat. Her chunk of wherry dangles just above the pile of fish in the sand, a slight tremor of the seamstress' hand causing the slick object to wiggle a bit to one side.
K'laarn wanders closer, gaze curious as he spots the rocking and shattering of eggs that reveal firelizards. He approaches with careful steps, cautious in order to not disturb or startle a hatchling. He glances sidelong at the others and grinning decided to join in the fray by dipping his hand into a communal bowl and grabbing out some of the meat. The slippery raw flesh slips around in his fingers as he crouches in the circle surrounding the eggs. A wiggle, and a jiggle later and his meat's participating with the rest of them.
Steamy swamp Green Hatchling is certainly into this thing now, whatever it is, her mind is made up. She takes yet more meet from Riosin.
The Steamy swamp Green Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Riosin, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
"Just name him 'Avan's', Kayjay, and that'll make her happy. Obviously, it's all up to her." Auralia grins towards the brownrider and her firelizards, proceeding to wave her meat idly, without much conviction. It's hard work. Perhaps still meat does just as good a job. "Another bronze, I see. Obviously a bronze sired clutch, I guess." Sharia's explanation is greeted with a nod, as she replies, "I'll make sure to pass the message on to both Telinda and K'tor, if you don't get a chance yourself. We'll make sure they are protected properly."
Riosin smiles as Steamy swamp Green Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
Kellah smiles watching the others then looks to the other eggs.
Maralita reaches to hand Kellah some meat, "Try for one."
L'mir listens to Auralia then adds his own suggestion to Kayjay. "I think Brie would be a delightful name for the bronze." He winks then grins to his fellow Wingleader.
Cloud city Bronze Hatchling spreads out his wings, a moment to let them dry and then he pushes himself into the air, searching from above, a cloud of heads below him.
Cieria pauses to look toward the bowl holding fish available for the little hatchlings and then slowly dips her hand in, fishing for a piece for herself to hold. She pulls one piece out, sinking to rest on her knees in the sand and just offer the tidbit she has to the new little ones.
Aithne glances around at the various people her chin resting on the palm of her hand as she considers. Sharia's words draw her attention for a moment before she spots K'laarn and a delighted laugh almost breaks free as the fish almost outmanuevers him.
Kellah looks to Maralita. "thanks Maralita." dangles the meat
Kayjay giggles at Auralia and ducks at the same time, grabbing the last piece of meat. "He's finished eating, Avan, look!" The bronze in the crook of her arm gives a self satisfied burp and rolls over, tiny wings drapping over Kayjay's lower arm. Avan continues to hover over, crowing her pleasure.
Maralita nods and grins.
Riosin tucks the small green into her arms, then backs away from the group, grabbing a handful of meat as she passes the bowl.
Monotonous White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Sharia, amazingly, gives a soft smile as the Weyrsecond reassures her that there will be riders to protect the fields. "My thanks to you, Weyrsecond. Those fields are very valuable, you know, and we'd hate to lose them." The Craftmaster winces back as tiny bronze wings pass a bit too close for comfort to her face, blue eyes widening in startlement.
Monotonous White Egg dances a crazy path of circles in the sand that has trickled down when it rolled from the mound.
Morgan gasps a little as the bronzes pushes himself off the ground. She grins. "I didn't know they could do that so soon, wow. I guess I'm out of practice when it comes to firelizards. Not been around them lately." She cranes her neck up to make sure to see what the bronze does next.
Kayjay snorts at L'mir. "I will keep that one for later thought."
D'ryn walks over from the Coastal Path.
Monotonous White Egg spins, a dazzling rainbow of colors fly over the surface of the egg, like it threatens to blind those people nearest and looking at it. It seems to give way under the strain, becoming nothing more than shadows, fragments of shell bursting forth, as the hatchling strives for emergence.
---*** Imposing Walking Carpet Blue Hatchling ***---
Indigo laps at carefully curved talons, fading to a lighter sapphire color about the legs and belly, crashing up the wings, coating them with a light mist of sea-blue before a lovely azure envelops neck and head, caressing headknobs and lapping over his muzzle. Those wings seem to be as light as the foam from a wave, the greenish-blue hue making those wings seem sleeker and longer than they are. His motions are decisive, at times clowning, at others boorish and even brutish, if the mood strikes him. That long sinuous neck and whiplash of a tail mark him as a large blue, almost rivaling a brown in size, surpassing most lizards in personality.
Maralita giggles as Searcher bumps her nose.
Eirene grins, "Look, another one hatching--Ooh, another blue."
K'laarn wrinkles his nose in Aithne's direction and then winks. That meat goes slip, slip, slide and he nearly drops it with that last ferocious wiggle. There the meat dangles, angled and closer to that little blue hatchling as soon as violet eyes spy it.
Leah grins down at Beranth,"See?" Never letting go of the toy she contiinues to wiggle the spiderclaw. A near by adult sees the dirty 'claw that Leah is offering and takes it from her. In its place they out a clean piece of fingertail, before the little can raise a fuss. Leah starts wiggling the fingertail being careful this time not to drop it.
Kellah looks to the newly hatched blue and dangles and wiggles it where the blue can see it.
L'mir shrugs toward Kayjay, chuckling. "I thought it was a good name.." he replies, then stands once again to peer at the little ones.
Jalynia whistles softly. Blue. "Very nice," she comments in an undertone, before almost dropping her chunk of wherry as the slippery object decides to make a break for it. "Oh, no you don't," she murmurs under her breath, finally getting the wayward wherrybit under control, and holding it out to whichever hatchling wants a bite of it.
Kayjay moves over to a quieter spot on the beach, stroking the little bronzes belly with one finger, chuckling as she traces the outline of meat chunks. "Greedy little guy, huh?" She blinks with surprized annoyance as Avan chitters in defense of -her- pet.
V'tali jerks his hand back quickly as the Monotonous White egg shatters and clearly startles him. With an almost bashful, apologetic look, he reaches out again toward the bronze who has already hatched, though his eyes drift about, true to no one hatchling.
Cieria smiles brightly at seeing another egg hatch, ooohing softly as another one fire lizard is born and she tries to offer the piece she has to either of the hatchlings if they are interested.
Auralia sits back, eyeing the bronze warily, then managing a short nod towrds Sharia. "I quite understand. It would be a horrible waste to leave them with insufficient protection.--Oh, another blue. Lots of them, but then, I suppose that's normal." She sits up, moving her knees about, then resets herself upon them, grumbling, "My legs are going to sleep."
Cloud city Bronze Hatchling swoops down and grabs a morsel of meat from someone's lap - who's was that? Oh well, no matter. Another morsel is taken from Jalynia's hand as it slips out of her control, or maybe it didn't and he got fingers instead..
D'ryn slips into the group and then peers over Kayjay's shoulder. "It seems I miss all the fun stuff," he comments to her, reaching to pilfer some unused meat from whatever pile is nearest, holding out a little bit for whatever hatchling is there.
Kellah watches the blue and looks atthe bronze
Imposing Walking Carpet Blue Hatchling is a little large compared to others of his colour, and he makes no hestitation in searching out food, making loud rumbling noises which are strange from one so young.
Morgan chuckles as the bronze swoops down. "I'd love to see what this one can do in days if it can do this in minutes." She makes sure she has plenty of meat available, and plays with the meat that's in her hands again, keeping her eyes on the bronze's antics.
Kellah says "I'd like to have one, doesn't matter the color"
"That it would," Sharia agrees as she tries to keep an eye on each of the three hatchlings, occasionally giving her wherry scrap a twitch or two when she appears to think of it.
K'laarn chortles at the boisterous and loud blue. His meat is offered -- a tempting prize for a brave firelizard. It wiggles again -- maybe its still alive.
Eirene settles back a little bit, again trying to scoot out of people's way without losing her claim on the little pile of meat beside her. Every so often, a morsel goes down the throat of the tiny brown in her lap.
Dria stretches her feet as she waits, patiently balanced on her heels, chunk of 'claw meat suspended in her hand with little movements.
Kellah dangles her meat near the blue.
Maralita sighs as Searcher finally falls asleep, and casts the rest of her meat in scattered directions for flits too shy to come close to the group.
L'mir laughs at the bronze's snatching attitude when he grabs the food from Jaly. "Frisky. Good bronze." he comments, nodding toward her.
Cieria almost forgets about the piece of fish she is holding as she turns her head to try and follow the antics of each of the new fire lizard hatchlings, getting more fun from simply watching them.
The Polar frosted Blue Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Dria, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
"Ow!!!" Jalynia yelps in surprise as the bronze gets a mouthful of her fingers instead of the wherry. Said wherry is dropped as the seamstress shakes her hand out. "Those teeth are -sharp!" she exclaims in surprise, before eyeing the bronze. "Geez. Eat this, not me, would you?" she says, finding another bit of wherry to offer.
Kellah watches the little blue.
Dria smiles as Polar frosted Blue Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
Auralia, fingers wiggling lazily, shifts again, this time getting completely off her knees, and crossing her legs in front of her with a sigh of relief. Legs covered in breeches are eyed, her hands set in front of them. She goes silent, for a time.
Cloud city Bronze Hatchling swoops down, landing on Jalynia's head, and leaning over to take the offered bit of food - his talons are soft, thankfully, otherwise head gouges might be apparent. He snuffles, then snorts - more?
Aithne seems far more interested in the people trying to attract the attention of the hatchling than of the hatchlings themselves, amusement fills her expression, her nose wrinkling on occassion.
D'ryn has apparently pilfered someone's errant spiderclaw, wiggling it by one leg as it is dangled out into the open space.
V'tali startles again, at Jaly's exclamation, causing him to drop his own fish. "Well, that's it for the fish, then," he mumbles absently. As it becomes quickly apparent that no real damage was done to the seamstress' fingers, he glances left, right, where's a bowl? Ah, he reaches back and riffles through for a couple nice chunks of wherry, and by the time he's turned back around, that little bronze has hopped up to Jaly's head. "Well! Congrats!" He grins.
Leah smiles at the blue as she wiggles her meat. She looks up as she hears a cry of pain. She looks from the bigger person to her own hand and shifts her hold on the meat to the top edge.
Dria rocks back, sitting down in surprise as the blue is finally coaxed right into her lap to eat the chunk of 'claw she holds, "Shells!" she exclaims as the 'lizard makes up its mind and grins as she feeds the ravenous little thing.
Kellah looks back to the remaining eggs.
Imposing Walking Carpet Blue Hatchling grabs a morsel from Cieria, one from Auralia, and then one from near V'tali - he zips around and grabs each and every morsel left on the ground. Sand? Who cares!
Riosin strides over to the Coastal Path.
Kellah dangles another piece infront of the blue.
Eirene reaches out quickly to snatch back her little pile of scraps as the blue comes raiding. "Hey! Get your own."
Auralia heys, wiggling her hand away from the blue. "That's not acceptable," says she, making a face. "Should be polite, you. Little brat." She holds her meat up high, as if taunting it, and any other hatchlings. "Not nice at all."
Jalynia blinks in no little surprise as the bronze decides to settle on her head, of all places. "Uh...okay," she comments, grinning as she holds up a fishbit to the new hat she seems to have acquired.
Cieria laughs as the piece of fish she was offering is promptly stolen and she looks for another, searching for where the bowl might be left and then stretching out her hand to reach in and grasp one more tidbit to continue to hold out for the hungry hatchlings.
The Cloud city Bronze Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Jalynia, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
"Now there's a little opportunist," Sharia comments to those closest to her with a nod towards the remaining blue, taking a tighter grip on her own scrap so it can't be snatched easily.
Kellah says "This is so neat."
Imposing Walking Carpet Blue Hatchling snorts at Auralia. He'll do what he wants, see if he doesn't. He rumbles and then runs after the bowl that Cieria's found. Oh, it's turnday time!!
Good for Morgan she was smart enough to put her meat in her lap, so she still has some available if a hatchling were to choose her. She chuckles as she sees the bronze's landing place, and looks at the progress of the other hatchlings, though every once in awhile she goes back to watching what the bronze is up to.
Jalynia smiles as Cloud city Bronze Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
Glistening White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Glistening White Egg wobble-spins, in tighter and tighter, ever increasingly faster, circles.
K'laarn just shakes his head and chuckles wryly at the blue hatchling's antics, "I'll say." He replies in response to Sharia. To Kellah he grins and says "It is pretty neat, eh? They're so frantic for food they'll eat anything that smells tasty, including fingers."
Glistening White Egg quakes in its protective mound near its dam. As it spins, it appears as though first one celestial sphere could set over the camber of the horizon, then a second spins around to join it. Shadows play over the surface as it revolves with purpose, gathering speed.
---*** Desert sun Gold Hatchling ***---
Daylight embraces the desert as one sun rises to its zenith -- the blazing iridescent colours of the sphere's conflagration with the skyline caressing the dunes to set them afire across the hide of this gold hatchling. Another celestial body glows in the multifarious play of shadow and light as sunset-bronzes melt towards the horizon in fiery glory -- bathing her wings with the twilight purples of impending nightfall. Red ochres mark the outline of a craggy sandy gold escarpment, which fractures the curves of her belly, obfuscating the tracks of a large animal below, hiding them from sight.
Maralita perks and blinks!! "A gold!!" she cries in amazement.
Kellah gasps at the gold and gets some more meat.
Leah giggles at the bronze on someones head. She snort at the blue,"Oh he is like that aweful boy that hide you on me Beranth!"
L'mir leans back against the driftwood, crossing both legs and arms. He's content to watch all the excited faces, as eggs crack and Impressions are made.
Cloudy White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Cloudy White Egg dances a crazy path of circles in the sand that has trickled down when it rolled from the mound.
"Isn't he," agrees Auralia, towards Sharia, smiling almost thankfully as the blue moves after Cieria instead. "How many more eggs? It's an awfully decent sized clutch, if so white, in the eggs." The newest hatchling is noted, with a nod, "A gold. Knew there'd be one. Any others?" She seems slightly disappointed that the hatchlings, besides the gold, seem occupied.
Eirene breathes softly, "Oh, a gold...isn't she perfect?"
Cloudy White Egg spins around in its home of sand, the egg sprinkling grains everywhere, like multitudes of tiny stars. The glowing-reds and volcanic-golds blend over its surface as it spins - and then cracks open.
Dria glances up briefly to admire the gold, "Ahh." she comments at the electric beauty of color, but the demanding blue critter in her hand claims much more of her attention.
"Ah, good evening, Wingleader," Sharia greets K'laarn, craning her neck around to look up at him, taking her attention from the hatching's progress for the first time. "How are you tonight?"
---*** Raffish Survivor Brown Hatchling ***---
Not too big, not too small, this handsome brown is just right. He has a polished appearance about him, as though he is accustomed to getting what he wants. Dark umber hide is his trademark, a brown so deep is it almost black. Glittery bits of sapphire starlight outline his neck ridges and wingspars, making him appear as though he were wearing a crown and stately robes. His wings are a softer hue, the brown of rich loam, the trailing edges seemingly tipped in crimson. Dark indigo washes his sides, trailing down to a softer whorl of golden brown highlighting his tailtip.
Kellah dangles some meat. "wow"
Kayjay smiles over at D'ryn. "Try for one." She stares down at the little bronze asleep in her arm. "Truly worth it." She murmurs. "Fizgig? I have to think about it, although Avanspet, does have a ring to it. "
Morgan looks over at the gold and smiles, though she doesn't attempt to entice the firelizard to her, it would be too much to hope for. But she keeps her little stash of meat just in case, and looks around, smiling as another brown is hatched.
Cieria just continues to shake the bit of fish she has, her mouth forming an oooh as another hatchling emerges. She moves to just watch the new one, head turning between it and the other blue. She laughs in happiness at just seeing the hatching for these little lovelies, her fingers barely holding on to the fish she has.
Jalynia's face is wreathed in tremendous smiles, bronze still sitting on her head. Some work goes into coaxing the little fellow down from his perch to a place where she can feed him more easily. The appearance of a gold catches her attention briefly, before the little fellow butts at her hand and she obliges by stuffing more meat down his maw.
K'laarn glances this way and that way as firelizard after firelizard decide to hatch. The gold is all bright and shiny but the brown looks pretty interesting. He dangles his bit of meat, the slimy piece that keeps threatening to fall into the sand toward the brown.
V'tali's eyes widen almost imperceptibly as the little gold breaks free of her egg. And then a brown, hot on her heels. He shrugs, and transfers one piece of meat into the other hand, so he can hold out two at once... hey, double the chance of something getting eaten, right? He waggles one alluringly, and lets the other flop limply, clearly uncertain of baby firelizard preferences.
Maralita mischeiously gathers another pile of meat before her. Crafty, ain't she.. Serenity snorts. Yeah, that'll work.
D'ryn continues holding out the dangling spiderclaw by its leg, not paying any heed to much except whichever firelizard is closest, given the press of people. He smiles a bit over his shoulder to Kayjay, noting her new friend with some amusement. "I like Fizgig as a name," he comments absently, then looks back to see what's happening.
Imposing Walking Carpet Blue Hatchling sticks his muzzle into Cieria's bowl, munching happily, and then - *burp*. He glances up at her, did she see? Hope not!
Kellah dangles a piece of meat out to eith the brown or gold.
Eirene can't help herself, she holds out another scrap, wiggling it ever so slightly. A rude chirp from the brown draws her attention. "Oh hush, what do you know about it?"
Kellah wiggles the piece of meat hopefully.
Leah's go round, as does her mouth,"OH! Look Ber... a gold!" She dangles her piece of fingertail until her arm gets tired then she switches arms and dangles it with the other.
Maralita selects a very tender peice of meat, and gets Serenity, and even sleepy Searcher to croon with her.
Its the reaction to the newly hatched gold that attracts Aithne's attention at first, her head tilting as she tries to figure this out. Finally she does see the gold, her eyes widening slightly before she chuckles softly. "Should have known even before I looked." She notes in amusement.
Leah's eyes go round, as does her mouth,"OH! Look Ber... a gold!" She dangles her piece of fingertail until her arm gets tired then she switches arms and dangles it with the other.
Cieria grins down at the little blue, just helping himself to the bowl. "Finding what you like?" she asks it softly and then waves the bit of fish she has managed to save, toward any hatchling that prefers it.
Desert sun Gold Hatchling flickers a look back to Elidi, a questioning warble going to her dam, before a look goes out and around all these people. She wanders past several, searching and taking morsels where she deigns, but food isn't her only search.
Fingers play out upon the sand, making patterns with dribbles of blood, and pieces of wherry meet, as Auralia waits, patiently, for any hatchlings to wander towards her. She's not, fairly obviously, overly fussed about anything just now. Watching, certainly, and shifting her knees about. "I must be getting old," she mumbles, frowning.
Kellah smiles softly at the two hatchlings. "theyre so cute and pretty"
Imposing Walking Carpet Blue Hatchling glances at Cieria, and takes that bit of food. Of course he's having food. More food? Does she have a secret stash? Did she smuggle some away?
Sharia glances back down at the mostly hatched clutch as her query goes unanswered by the bronzerider. "Oh! When did they crack their shells?" she exclaims in surprise as her blue eyes light upon the gold and newest brown. Unlike many others, she doesn't immediately reach forward with her scrap in hopes of attracting the gold. Instead, she contents herself with just loosening her grip on the wherry piece and watching the action.
Morgan smiles warmly at the exchange between mother and new gold, a far off look on her face for a moment before she pulls herself back. She watches her with that same smile as she makes her way around.
Maralita waves more meat at the gold, "Hey you, gorgeous."
Raffish Survivor Brown Hatchling ponders things, he votes, diplomatically of course, to sit and let someone attract his attention. His gold sibling will get it all anyway, and he's not competing with *her*
Jalynia backs out of the circle, still stuffing food down the little bronze's gullet. And it's then that she sees who else is there. A blink of startlement is directed at L'mir first, then at V'tali, before she looks back down at her hatchling, smile returning.
K'laarn snorts softly and remarks to Auralia, "You'll be old when you're my age lass." he gives her a teasing wink and wriggles his fish once more. This time though is too much for the morsel. It falls to the sand with a wet plop. He frowns at it as if accusing it of something more dire before reaching for it and brushing off some sand.
Kellah looks to the brown and wiggles some meat infront of him.
V'tali watches the baby queen start out on her search, and the corner of his mouth quirks. "That one's getting right down to business, isn't she?" he comments, glancing to the right as if expecting someone to be there. He finds himself talking to the side of the head of someone he clearly doesn't know that well, and turns back to the hatchlings, cheeks flushing slightly red. He holds the wiggling meat out a little farther, leaving the limp piece closer to his body.
D'ryn keeps the spiderclaw dangling back and forth like a pendulum, wrinkling his nose a little bit at the wild press of people. He looks back over his shoulder once, then laughs suddenly at something unheard by all. "No, Blaith," he says, but doesn't elaborate further.
Maralita hrms, yes, brown is pretty too.. torn in two different didrerections, as goes the meat, some still dangling for the gold, and a bit more towards the brown.
Cieria just giggles softly again and then attempts to peek into the bowl to look for more and the settles a hand in to go fishing for perhaps another piece. She finally finds one, dragging a hand out with a couple of pieces that she sneaks quickly into her lap. She holds one fish section out though, waving at the nearby hatchling.
"We are -all- getting old, Auralia." Aithne replies to the wingsecond. "Some of us just started earlier than others." K'laarn is given an amused glance. "And when we get to be your age, what will you be?"
Kayjay quirks an eyebrow at D'ryn.
Auralia winks back at K'laarn, "No, then I'll be ancient," she teases, sitting up to glance between gold and brown. "Well, that's true, Aithne. It has to happen to one point." Nodding her head, she goes quiet for a moment. "All lovely hatchlings," she says, to no one in particular,"For hatchlings. Which are always kind of not quite perfect, anyway. They grow into beauty, mostly."
Kellah wiggles the meat for either of them. "Come on prettys."
Imposing Walking Carpet Blue Hatchling oh, she's so good to him, maybe he'll keep her! With that, he takes the food, then rumbles at her some more.
The Imposing Walking Carpet Blue Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Cieria, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
Leah looks from Beranth to the gold and back and then to the brown. She shrugs and wiggles the fish in front of her. She watches both of the hatchlings fir once being very quiet.
Maralita wiggles the meat s'more at the brown, "Aren't you hungry? A growing guy like you gotta eat, y'know, cuz it's not good to not eat."
Eirene snuggles the sleeping brown to her chest, still holding out a bit of fish toward the hatchlings, wiggling it a bit now and then. Just in case.
Aithne considers Auralia's words for a moment, her gaze moving towards the hatchlings. "I don't know." She murmers. "I have yet to seea truly ugly hatchling. Firelizard or dragon." Perhaps she is a bit biased.
Cieria just stares at the little blue hatchling, offering it another bite as it wanders closer, now smiling only for it and then reaching down to offer another bite of fish to the little one.
Cieria smiles as Imposing Walking Carpet Blue Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
Kellah smiles and watches the hatchlings as she dangles and wiggles the meat.
V'tali grins at a little blue rumble, and at Cieria, then fumbles the limp meat in his left hand. "Whoops," he grabs for it - and misses. He replaces it with a 'fresh' piece, and focuses on the little gold beastie once more.
Kellah says "you are both so pretty"
K'laarn replies quickly. "A geezer." His eyebrows wiggle "And probably still something to look at perhaps." He jokes before laughing at Auralia's remark. His meat is sandy but still palatable and he carefully reaches out and places it on the sand closer to the brown. Well there's some meat and its not terribly far from the stubborn creature. As soon as its placed his hand moves away, leaving it as an offering.
D'ryn leans back toward Kayjay. "He asked if he could join in the fun," he says to her as his stolen spiderclaw goes swinging back and forth gently in a small arc. "We'll go swimming later, all right?" he asks, seemingly to himself, in a faint mutter. The spiderclaw apparently doesn't like that swinging thing, for it snaps its free claw on D'ryn's fingers, and he stifles a startled yelp, but grimly holds onto the little beastie, grabbing it with both hands to prevent further snapping.
Maralita hrms, "Here, beautiful little gold, here, pretty pretty pretty." she croons, still holding the brown's offering as she watches the little gold. "Best color, really they are.. well, besides green and blue, and then brown, and, well, don't hae an oppionon on Bronzes yet.."
L'mir has partially disconnected.
Cieria smiles at the lovely sea hatchling, offering the stash of fish she has now to him, entranced as she tells him what a lovely blue ocean color he is.
Kayjay giggles at D'ryn."Umm, might want to feed that to something before it feeds on you."
Dria strokes the blue in her arm as, gorged, it starts to fall asleep. She watches the gold in center spotlight.
Kellah smiles. "You pretty ones have to be hungry, i got somenice meat right here."
Auralia's meat becomes more and more sandy, but it's obvious that she's either not noticed, or couldn't care less. "A geezer, exactly my words, really." Teasingly, she adds, "Something to look at? You? That might be going too far." So she muses, marking out her intention with a grin. She glances between the two hatchlings, as if considering them, and turns her attention towards the brown.
Sharia gives a small twitch of her wherry scrap as she glances over at Aithne. "They're ungainly, though. Except for that bronze that took wing a bit ago." She casts a look around the crowd, perhaps trying to spot whomever managed to draw the attention of the hatchling in question. A bit of juice from the wherry gets splattered on her dress as she shifts the meat, a fact which draws a grimace of mild disgust from the Craftmaster.
Desert sun Gold Hatchling walks past a couple of candidates, then a couple of riders, talking offerings that are dangled in front of her and then sniffs at the piece someone dropped - no good for her - perhaps someone else? Droplets of blood have trickled from someone's hand to the ground, and then, that person's interest goes to her sibling. Can't be having that! She butts her head against Auralia's leg.
Raffish Survivor Brown Hatchling wiggles over towards a possible candidate for his affections, a croon going to her, before he snatches the meat and goes to try courting someone else.
Maralita looks at the gold, shrugs, and croons at the brown, "Eat, little guy."
Jalynia has seated herself on her towel, and is still stuffing meat down the little bronze's maw. "Now, let's see, what should I name you?" she murmurs, still smiling--though her eyes flick between V'tali and L'mir as she does so.
Auralia's head turns at that, and lowers, towards her legs. "Oh groan," she says, still just as cheerful. Her meat is hesitantly offered to the gold, wariness evident in her eyes, but pleasure just as obvious.
Morgan chuckles at the gold before turning to smile at Auralia. She looks back out at the other hatchlings, catching up on what they've been up to.
Cieria continues to offer fish to the little blue that has now climbed into her lap, trying to keep up with his greedy grabbing of the bits. "My, you're terribly hungry."
Aithne chuckles at K'laarn's words, "You will always be something to look at." She offers before teasing. "The reason for the look may change, though." A pause before she looks down to catch the butting. "I think someone is trying to attract your attention, Aura."
V'tali laughs, "She'll be a handful," he comments toward Auralia, and twitches his meat at the brown - now free from his sister's imperious shadow.
K'laarn remarks to Jalynia, "You could always name the firelizard 'old fart'." He tries to look his most innocent. Meanwhile he's managed to secure another bit of fish, this fresher and cleaner than the last piece. IT gets wriggled and prodded in the brown firelizard's direction.
Leah looks at the gold taking meat from a big person. She looks over at the brown and giggles,"That'll teach them, uh?"
Desert sun Gold Hatchling croons. See? That's the way it should be! She daintly takes the meat offered to her, and looks up - even the desert needs water to bloom, she's no less in need of food.
Kellah twitches her meat at the reamining brown
Somber White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Somber White Egg dances a crazy path of circles in the sand that has trickled down when it rolled from the mound.
Kayjay looks at K'laarn, wide-eyed. "Be rather a interesting name to call out when you are trying to get their attention, don't you think?"
Somber White Egg is at peace for a moment, like the time just before dawn, but the next it trembles frantically. With a hop, it jumps clear, tumbling in the sands as if it knows where it should be! Spinning furiously, the surface hues blend into one, delineated by webbed traceries that follow phantom footmarks.
Eirene grins at the gold's imperious attitude, then turns her head slightly as movement attracts her eye. "Another one hatching? What is it this time?"
"That's -not- what I need to hear, V'tali," says Auralia, keeping her gaze on the gold, and her meat flowing like, well, water. "Yes, yes, there's lots of meat."
---*** Jungle Vine Green Hatchling ***---
Deep emeralds and bright peridot twine their way like creeper vines across the sleek surface of hide. Darker green shadows linger in between the thick twisting foliage, the hue similar to malachite veins. The delicate shade of aquamarine twinkles far within the impenetrable forest of leaf and vine-like dapples like rushing rivers chasing a waterfall to a rock-filled crevasse far below, each stone fuzzed by soft moss. Each line of her body is fluid and supple like reeds swaying in water. Her wings are like a plucked spring-time leaf cast to drift and blown by a breeze, bony capillaries visible within gossamer flesh.
Maralita leans over to whisper softly at the brown, "Perhaps that quiet girl there, waving the meat so nicely, wants company?" nodding to Kellah.
Sharia looks down at the gold as she passes by, a faint smile coming to her lips. "She's certainly a pretty one, like sunlight on water. Good luck catching her, Weyrsecond," she offers as she turns back to the rest of the clutch. And the speckles of wherry slime that now dot her dress.
Maralita perks.. green? "Oh, pretty.." reaching to stroke Searcher.
The Desert sun Gold Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Auralia, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
Morgan starts to hum, maybe that's the nervous habit the harper has in lieu of twisting and playing with the meat in her hands. She smiles as she does, trying to catch everything that's going on, everywhere at once.
Maralita yipees! "Aura got the gold, hurray!"
L'mir laughs with delight as the gold Impresses to Auralia. "Well now, look at that! Congratulations, Aura."
Eirene regards teh delicate little green hatchling with sparkling eyes, wiggling her bit of fish in that direction. Then, "What? Aura--hey, the gold! Congratulations."
Kellah looks to the green that just hatched still dangling her meat. "they are all so pretty"
Raffish Survivor Brown Hatchling hops on over to Kellah, his head tilting one way and then the other. Could she be worthy of his attention? His sweet lady? Perhaps, perhaps, all depends on the food quality.
V'tali blinks, "There're more!" He declares, to no one in particular this time. Clearly he hasn't been paying nearly close enough attention. The brown is, again, neglected by V'tali, as a green hatches. It is more in her direction that he gestures with his meat-bribes.
Aithne laughs softly. "Congratulations, or should I offer my condolences?"
Maralita nods, "Yes, they are.." she grins, "Go see her, little brown. I think she likes you."
Cieria pauses in her feeding only slightly to ahhh at the new green hatchling and offer it a bright smile. She then turns to look toward Auralia, smiling as the gold makes her choice.
Auralia raises her head, feeding rapidly, and smiles towards Sharia. "Good luck? Mmm, well. We'll see." She even blushes a little at the congratulations, nodding, "Thanks, all. At least -- I think I should be saying thank you. We'll see if it's more a blessing or a curse." The gold is still eyed warily, with a shake of her head.
Kellah looks to the brown and offers him the meat
Leah jumps as the green hatchling comes ou of her shell. She pauses for a moment before wiggling her food towards the new green.
D'ryn mutters under his breath, "If this one doesn't stop wiggling, I'm going to squash it myself. Ow, hey, stop that. Shards!" he curses as it snaps again, and he has to drop it to nurse injured fingers. "I guess that will teach me to 'borrow' from other peoples' piles," he says ruefully, sucking on a finger as the spiderclaw scuttles away. Resignedly, he reaches for whatever's left of Kayjay's pile, hopefully something quite dead, and holds a bit of it out toward the green.
K'laarn remarks warmly at Auralia, "Congratulations weyrsecond. She's a beauty. And seems to rather like you." Another firelizard has made its way to the sand and taking in the appearance of the little green he muses. As the brown moves further away his tactics switch and the little green is coerced with his flexible fleshly offering.
Kayjay smiles over at Auralia. "Oh well, done, Aura, what a beauty!"
Maralita follows Leah's example in an odd way, she waves the meat at Leah, "Here."
Jalynia finally looks up, and beams as Auralia gets the gold. Then, grey eyes travel to L'mir, as the bronzerider receives a truly genuine smile. "What should I name him?" she queries.
<Southern Weyr> Maralita giggles, goo one
Jungle Vine Green Hatchling is crowded by a court of suitors, or is that egg shards, but, she seems to have landed, and hatched, pretty close to V'tali. Eyes go up and she watches the meat slowly swing out of her reach.
Shady White Egg shudders and rolls out of the mound of sand.
Shady White Egg dances a crazy path of circles in the sand that has trickled down when it rolled from the mound.
Kayjay grins and points to the pile that Avan has dropped nearby. Half eaten meatrolls, looking as if they were stolen mid bite from various people across the weyr, meat gobs and a shiny object looking suspiciously like a button.
Kellah dangles the meat infront of the brown offering the meat to it.
Maralita perks, one last egg, "Eggy eggy eggy, come out!"
Shady White Egg gathers speed, the egg hopping out of its circle of sand. With an explosive popping sound the life of this egg, it bursts forth, the shell shattering into smithereens.
---*** Sassy Your-Worship Green ***---
This little lady may be a trifle on the small side for a green, but that is not the primary reason she stands out in a crowd. Her coloring is a rich, even jade from headknobs to tailtip - a shade of beryl minecrafters covet. Her wings are dainty for her size and here is where her coloring takes on a distinctive hue. The wingspars are flame kissed, the faintest tracings of orange and bright sunlight to outline them. The flames peter back into the rich absinthe of her wings, lending her a saucy air. And that air is usually carried by the drape of her tail and the set of her neck. In all, this imperious little one is not one to cross.
L'mir looks toward the newly hatched bronze thoughtfully. "Hmmm. Well, I'd offer Brie or Briel, but that didn't seem to be too popular." He chuckles, offering a return smile.
Raffish Survivor Brown Hatchling leans forward, taking the meat from Kellah, as though she were offering him grapes. Is there more?
Kellah smiles and offers him some more of the meat she has.
Maralita perks again, "Oooo! lookee, another green! S'n't she pretty?!"
K'laarn remarks ever so blandly "Maralita, the egg doesn't understand your speech, nor do most firelizards until they've Impressed and are linked with you." His wink softens his remark however. Ah another green. Deciding the first is too far away, his meat makes its way, along with his hand holding it, closer to the Sassy one.
The Raffish Survivor Brown Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of Kellah, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
Jalynia chuckles softly, and smiles. "You're biased," she quips, with a grin. "And it might look funny if I name him after Brielth." She peers at the bronze thoughtfully for a few moments.
Eirene gets a good look at the latest green and pulls her hand back quickly. "Oh no, not two with that attitude."
Leah looks from one green to the other,"Oh look Beran, two that are your color!" She wiggles fingertail towards first one and then the other of the two.
"You'll likely need that luck with her being as eye-catching as she is," Sharia somewhat jokes as she again turns to the Weyrsecond. "No doubt every bronze in a day's ride will be wanting to chase her when she's old enough." The Craftmaster looks back at the hatching activity as an egg cracks nearby, her wherry scrap wriggling as she jerks her hand back in surprise.
Cieria oooohs softly again upon seeing another green hatch and she smiles first to the little blue that is finally, almost done stuffing himself and who is now, only nibbling on the bites offered. She moves to place the rest of the fish that she has, which isn't much in a pile out in front of her, pushing it a bit away though.
Kellah smiles at the brown
Dria smiles as the hatchlings one by one find safe homes. In her hand, the blue is sound asleep.
Maralita gets more meat and waves it at the saucy little green. "I think she's perfectly wonderful, Eirene."
Sassy Your-Worship Green stands up straight, then goes striding around the small circle of people gathered here - one look to one person, then the other. She has a regal air about her, an heir apparent to the gold from earlier it seems.
Eirene grins over at Mara, "She's beautiful, but I bet she'll be a handful." She pushes the remnants of her pile of meat off to the side, to avoid attracting the little green's attention.
D'ryn sorts through Kayjay's pile of half-eaten meatrolls, his finger finding the shiny thing in the middle. With a cocked eyebrow at his friend, he sets the button aside and holds out one of the bits of meatroll, one that has clearly not yet been nibbled on. With a flourish of his wrist, of all things.
L'mir laughs, then shrugs in a goodnatured way to the Southern seamstress. "Why wouldn't I be? It all seems pretty clean cut to me, though being biased is something I probably wouldn't admit, at least in a large group like this."
Auralia smoothes the gold in her lap gently, head cocked as she regards her. "I do believe you're right," she agrees, towards Sharia, rolling her eyes. "Haven't I suffered enough punishment with Iesath? She's not a flirt, but---she might as well be, at times. What have I done to award so much?" A grin permeates her face, a really silly one, as if she's still slightly amused, and surprised.
Kellah says "hmmm, what to name you she says as she continues to stuff the brown"
Maralita giggles softly, "Oh, you're ery pretty, little green." waves the meat somemore.
Aithne's attention is drawn by Mara's words, her smile widening at the two greens. "Interesting" She murmers before offering over to Jalynia. "You could combine the two names." She notes as she indicates L'mir and V'tali" and name him Breilen or Breilea?"
"And speaking of being eye-catching," Sharia mutters as she watches the small green, still brushing absently at the droplets of gunk that cling to her dress. "That one acts more like a Lady Holder than a tiny little firelizard."
Jalynia chuckles softly, and rises from her towel to carry her newfound friend over toward L'mir for closer inspection. "You can admit it later, then," she quips, before eyeing the bronze...and grinning at Aithne.
Kayjay grins at the flourish and settles back, observing the chaos around her. "Amazing, how these little ones can cause this much fuss eeven before they are old enough to be truly at their worst in mischief."
Leah chuckles,"Oh Beranth... that green is pretty! The way she walks is funny."
V'tali seems flighty, distracted from one hatchling as the next hatches. The sassy one is where his attention locks, dark eyes following her, twinkling in perhaps amusement. Now it is HIS turn not to notice Jalynia, for once, as he watches baby 'lizards strut about.
Niare strides over from the Coastal Path.
Jungle Vine Green Hatchling snorts as her attention is ignored and heads over to someone else - there a couple of riders here, a couple of crafters and some holders, - oh, look at that interesting knot..hrm.
Kellah smiles as Raffish Survivor Brown Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
Maralita hrms, "Little green." she croons again, meat still waving..
Sharia briefly takes her attention from the hatchlings again to give Auralia a wry smile. "Is your Iesath really that bad?" she asks, eyes darting from Weyrsecond to hatchlings and back once more.
Sassy Your-Worship Green would arch an eyebrow at V'tali if she had one, but she doesn't, and so intents herself with wiggling eyeridges - it doesn't succeed very well though, and ends up rather comical.
K'laarn doesn't ignore any firelizard hatchling. He's got meat and its offered to a green hatchling. He's lost track of which is which as they moved around. He'd looked away to get another handfull of meat.
Maralita giggles softly, "Oh, pretty."
Eirene wiggles a bit of fish at the vine-green hatchling, trying to attract her attention.
Niare pauses at the edge of the beach, then wrinkles her nose and tramps along the sand until she sits down on a piece of driftwood.
"She can be," notes Auralia, "And at other times, she can't. It all changes. She's like that. Which makes it all the worse. Besides which, she's evidently pretty enough to be taken into the attentions of the males, pretty much any time. Which doesn't help." The gold sated, she sets her into her pocket, touching it gently, then letting her hands rest in her lap, and drop blood right onto breeches which already have such stains about them.
V'tali bites back laughter as the sassy green makes an... interesting face at him. He doesn't speak to her, but rather does his best to wiggle his brows back at her. Then he wiggles the meat.
Cieria just strokes a finger along the blue who's now decided that he should snooze in her lap. She smiles as she watches the greens now on the sand, lifting one hand to push at the small pile of fish in front of her, more toward them before going back to sing very quietly, only to him.
L'mir scoots his rear over on the driftwood to make room. "Why don't you name him something that begins with the first letter of your name? J-- something?" the Wingleader asks Jalynia.
D'ryn can't help it. He laughs! The bit of meatroll is nearly forgotten as he chortles with amusement. A bit drops to the ground in a puff of sand.
Leah wiggles her fish trying to watch both greens at once.
Sassy Your-Worship Green wiggles her head at V'tali, then her legs, then her wings - bet he can't do it as well as her! As he's distracted, she runs over, snatches the meat and waits to see the wiggle that would match hers!
Jalynia sinks to the driftwood at L'mir's side, still regarding her bronze with a thoroughly besotted expression on her face. "Hm. There's a thought...J-what, though?"
Maralita sighs, "Green, green, here green, pretty green, any green, and 'lizard, you're all beautiful, and you can visit me wheneer, just don't tell Yarthan and Tara.."
"Ah, I see," Sharia replies with a nod, though from the confused frown on her lips, it's pretty evident that she really doesn't have much of a clue of what Auralia speaks about. "Well, I do wish you luck, with both your lifemate and your latest acquisition." The Craftmaster again looks back at the hatchlings, brow raising at the sassy green's antics.
Leah wiggles her fish with all the vigor that her little body can produce. In the process she drops the stuffed toy beside her.
V'tali bite shis lower lip - wouldn't do to embarrass or startle her with the big guffaw that seems to threaten. As he restrains his laughter, his shoulders do shake. He gives them a bit of a shimmy, flutters his hand as she frees the meat from it, and, okay, fine. He waggles his hips a little, as best he can manage crouched on his knees. He sighs, then, "Nope, well, I guess you win."
L'mir re-folds his arms comfortably on his chest, taking a good look at the bronze lizard. "Names usually fit the personality of the lizard somehow. Hmmm."
Sassy Your-Worship Green nods her little head - always a good place to start a relationship with the green on top! She tilts her head, and then looks at the hand, food? Cos he lost, so surely he should shower her with prizes!
Eirene cradles the brown against her chest with one arm, wiggling that fish bit at the green again, just in case the little one's hungry.
Kellah moves away from the group happy with her brown.
Auralia nods her head, looking across towards Sharia, "And I wish you luck in grabbing one of these ones left, if you so want one, and with your craft. Seems as though that's just as much trouble as a lifemate, at times, I bet." She settles back, watching the remaining hatchlings with a roll of her eyes. "So cute."
D'ryn looks over... and sees V'tali. And loses it, guffawing with vast amusement at the bronzerider's wiggling, even going so far as to point at him.
Jungle Vine Green Hatchling grabs food from a quiet Harper, then zooms past a weaver craftmaster, picking up food on her way. She's the only free avian left, and she intends to make use of her freedom before some empire takes her over.
V'tali chuckles as the hatchling give him an expectant look, "Okay, all right!" He pokes forward another chunk of meat, giving that a good wiggle as well.
K'laarn eyes the little green critically. He wiggles his fish harder, a tempting trap for a free green -- hopefully that little bit of fish draws her out into his aegis.
Kellah continues to stuff her brown.
Jalynia ponders thoughtfully, looking at the little bronze for a long moment. "Well, he landed on my head. Does that bring anything to mind? I don't want to call him 'hat', though."
Kayjay blinks at V'tali and chuckles. Not able to resist, she comments, even blushing before she gets the words out. "Nice wriggle there."
Cieria tries to point out the pile of fish near her, without really attracting the green's attention to her as she scoots back further, content with the lovely blue snoozing on her now.
Jungle Vine Green Hatchling eyes K'laarn back critically - there's no way she's wiggling for her meat, but she does deign to take his piece of fish.
Sharia blinks at the green blur that streaks past on the ground, the rapid movement having caused her to look down in surprise. "I didn't know they could move that fast!" she cries, her wherry scrap falling to a spot near her feet.
Leah gets tired quickly and simply holds out the finger tail. Looking around she fins her dragon and grabs it holding onto it for dear life.
In the northern sky, Emeleth soars to the sky above the Ocean Weyrs.
Eirene is made aware that a certain brown is not at all pleased with her, wiggling -his- dinner about like that. With a sheepish grin, she drops the fish into the 'lizard's waiting mouth. "Sorry..."
Sassy Your-Worship Green grabs that morsel of food from V'tali, and then flutters to his knee.
The Sassy Your-Worship Green pauses with a questioning warble in front of V'tali, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
Niare's lips twitch as she watches all the interesting behavior around the hatching firelizards.
K'laarn brightens enthusiastically and quickly shifts hands forward, full replacing empty. Just a little closer... -- his hand doesn't go quite as far toward her this time but the meat is shown there, glistening and eager for her taste.
V'tali spares a glance at Kayjay and winks at the brownrider, "You know it." He seems to find it best to keep his attention on that sharp green, though, perhaps out of fear for his fingers. He dips back into the bowl, reaching backward blindly for more treats, which he pops into the little green's mouth as she flits into his lap.
"Congratulations, V'tali," says Auralia quietly, head turning to grin at Sharia. "It's amazing, huh? They are fast. And--well, yes."
V'tali smiles as Sassy Your-Worship Green flies to their shoulder.
Kayjay snorts. "Anyone who would wriggle like -that- on a public beach deserves a reward." She smiles as V'tali gathers the firelizard to himself. "Cute though, talking about the firelizard!!"
Aithne glances over to catch Niare's look, her own expression matching that of the greenrider. "Its even better to watch." She notes before holding up her clean hands. "And less messy."
Maralita sighs, "Oh little green." calling Jungle green. "I promise to love and feed you if you come over!"
Jungle Vine Green Hatchling takes tentative steps towards K'laarn, and then dives for his hand, landing to perch on his wrist to grab the morsel more easily.
The Jungle Vine Green Hatchling pauses with a questioning warble in front of K'laarn, looking up at them with whirling eyes.
Maralita blinks and shrugs, that's that.
Eirene giggles, "Give over, Mara, I think she's made her choice already..."
D'ryn continues to chuckle to himself as he starts to clean up the mess he's made with the meatroll, leaning back on his heels with an easy smile.
Kellah cradles her brown in her arms as it falls asleep finally full.
K'laarn holds his hand paitently steady as the firelizard feeds. He grasps outwards, empty handed toward someone and says "More meat, please?" A helpful person accomidates the rider and his second hand darts back in, replacing the first as soon as its eaten.
Telinda peers into the mound, which Elidi now allows her, and nods, "That's it folks, none left I'm afraid."
V'tali continues to provide the sassy green with tidbits, and cringes, grinning, as she makes nippy feints at his ear when he doesn't serve up fast enough for her pleasure.
K'laarn smiles as Jungle Vine Green Hatchling flies to their shoulder.
Sharia bobs her head to Auralia, absently wiping her besmeared hand on her dress. "My Snap was never that fast. Of course, he barely ever stirs himself from my cot, even now." She sighs as she glances down at her lap, and the bloody strak left there from her hand. "Lovely. Just sharding lovely."
Leah walks toward the Coastal Path.
Dria strokes the little'one and gently places him in a pocket, rubbing her meat-begrimed hands off on her trousers.
Auralia stands, rubbing at her breeches with a frown at the new marks, and, still with her head in Sharia's direction, laughs. "Indeed? Same with my blue. He's a lazy little sleepyhead if there ever was one." She bites her lip, offering, "If you soak it now, it might wash out? Of course, you'd know more about it than I, wouldn't you."
V'tali murmurs, "What to name you, now. Ear-biter? No, not lady-like enough," he teases the green as she gives his earlobe another light tweak.
Telinda holds out her arm and Elidi flies over, lands and then hops quickly up to their shoulder.
Kayjay carefully rises from her makeshift chair, not wanting to disturb the little firelizard and chuckles, looking back at Telinda. "Thank your lovely little Elidi, for me."
L'mir purses his lips, chin crinkling, as he thinks about a name for the seamstress' bronze. "Looks like he'll make you very happy, you know? I bet he'd get you to laugh when you needed to. How about.. Jesten?"
Telinda laughs, "I'd rather she wasn't so sneaky, unlike that green we found the other day. Silly things."
Aithne grins over at Telinda. "She had a beautiful clutch." She adds in agreement to Kayjay's words.
Sharia actually chuckles as she inclines her head to the Weyrsecond's suggestion, forgetting about the smear on her dress for the nonce. "Aye, it'll have to be soaked. And with plenty of sweetsand as well. Hopefully that rider's still around to give me a ride back to the Hall, else the stain will set before I get there. My thanks to you, Weyrsecond, for listening to my concern over the flax fields."
Jalynia chuckles softly, as the bronze burps once, then collapses into comatose sleep in her lap. "Jesten. I like that," she muses, a smile curving her lips.
Kayjay walks toward the Coastal Path.
Telinda stands, brushing sand from her trousers, "Yes, Elidi, I'm just betting you're starved, come along I'm betting Kaena's due another feed."
Auralia nods towards Sharia, smiling, "Oh, quite welcome, Craftmaster. I'll most certainly pass the message on as soon as I possibly can. You need have no fear for your fields."
Telinda walks toward the Coastal Path.
D'ryn strides over to the Coastal Path.
Aithne sighs as she stands, nodding slightly to herself before she offers a smile to those around her. "I think Araneth is waking and she doesn't seem to be in the best of moods." Without waiting for a response, she slips up the path.
Aithne strides over to the Coastal Path.
Sharia nods to Auralia once more, then turns away, likely in search of the rider that brought her to the Weyr.
Sharia strides over to the Coastal Path.
