You walk toward the bustling Weyrhall.
Iesath> You lumber toward the Landing field, full of dragons.
Auralia ambles in, clutching her jacket in one hand with an emphasis on it being -far-, -far- away. Her nose is wrinkled, too. With along sigh, she tosses it upon a table, inhabited with a group of blueriders, who draw back, and searches for juice. "It isn't -that- bad."
Iesath> Nymath warbles happily back to Emeleth. Oh, and to Iesath.
Dragon> Emeleth bespoke Iesath with << Nice night no? >>
Alden is sitting sideways in a chair near a window, legs swinging idly over the wrong side. He looks up as Auralia enters, and blinks. "What's wrong with your jacket?"
Iesath> Iesath ambles in, straps obviously just recently removed by the faint marks on her hide, wings fluttering about her. A soft warble: she looks -tired-.
Iesath> Emeleth senses that Iesath raises her attention, agreeing quietly, << Lovely. The moons are beautiful, as always. >>
Iesath> Sienna walks over from the lush Lakeside Meadow.
"Runner dung," is Aura's eloquent answer, head turning to face Alden as she speaks. "Blasted holders and their runners." Head goes back down; concentrating on juice pooring. "Hi, too."
Dragon> Emeleth bespoke Nymath and Iesath with << Yes the moons are nice. And the stars shine brightly. >>
Iesath> Leonette strides over from the lush Lakeside Meadow.
Iesath> Sienna comes stumbling in with a sort of dazed grin on her face, bags under her eyes showing tiredness. "See? Ocean!" Then she blinks around, squinting. Giggle, giggle. "Whoops...dragons!" She looks up at the dragons gathered there.
Alden raises both eyebrows. "Rather smell runner dung than sevenday-old fishguts..." he observes slowly. "But I guess I wouldn't want either in my clothes."
Dragon> Nymath bespoke Emeleth and Iesath with << Yes, as always, and you look pretty tonight Em...and Iesath (can't forget Iesath) >>
Auralia's nose wrinkles again, ignoring the jacket that is getting looks of rather pained expression at the other table, and stepping towards a chair nearby to Alden. "Ew. Guess neither is particularly nice."
Iesath> Nymath rumbles at the girls. That was a greeting.
Iesath> Nymath and Emeleth sense that Iesath doesn't much like being tacked on as an afterthought, but she rumbles nicely enough, thoughts sprigged with moonlit verdancy, traceries touched with silver. << I'd say the same thing about you, but--->> Be nice, Iesath. Someone's -tired-.
Alden kind of half-smiles as he shakes his head. "No, guess not. We had some runner back home, but mostly it was fish, fish, and more fish."
Iesath> Iesath steps to the side, wings fluttering. There's a weary rumble, but no more.
Iesath> Leonette laughs, and reaches to take Sienna's hand (if she'll let her that is) "Now, hon, I thought you wanted to see the /water/?" she says, in that 'talking to kidlets and nutty people' voice. "Or do you want to see the dragons?" She's still a bit confused about that.. She grins at the dragons, then back at Sienna.
Iesath> Emeleth rumbles softly and lifts wings slightly crooning at both the blue and the green
Auralia nods sagely, murmuring, "Fish. Yes, we had that, too. All the time. I got seasick; fish reminded me of that. Still can't stand the stuff, much."
Iesath> Sienna doesn't really seem to notice Leonette, and sways back and forth, yawning. Stumble..oop, she caught herself. "Huh?" SH easks again. "Dragons, a course!" She grins, then spots a familar one near her. "Nymaaaaath!" She grins and shuffles over, wrapping her arms around a foreleg.
Alden grins crookedly. "I hear it's a common problem... I just cna't stand fish, most times, because it seems like that's all we ever ate. Fish soup, fish stew, fish sausage for breakfast, baked, broiled, grilled, boiled, salted, dried..." he trails off and grimaces.
Auralia echoes the grimace, head shaking. "Ugh. No wonder. Still -- least we've loads of variety here."
Iesath> Nymath rumbles again, hearing his name, and turns that head. Must humans -always- take him away from his greens? Whuffle at Sienna.
Iesath> Leonette ohs, and nods, "Um...Sienna?" she laughs nervously, looking up at Nymath, "You might not wanna do that.." she says, attempting to take her hand and lead her away. "Look and don't touch, you know?"
Iesath> Emeleth settles back down with Nymath distracted.
Iesath> Sienna giggles and skritches the foreleg a little. "Awww, its just Nymath!" She nuzzles into him some more.
Dragon> Emeleth bespoke Nymath and Iesath with << I like it when the stars are this bright. You look in good health Iesath >>
Iesath> Iesath closes her eyes, attempting to ignore the stars. Just -basking- in the moon's glow. Swifter than the moons sphere is she...but not tonight.
Iesath> I bespoke Nymath and Emeleth with << Do I? I feel well. The stars are all right, but the moon is better. >>
Alden nods in agreement. "Believe me, I do appreciate it a /lot/." He swings his feet a little, idly, and asks rather curiously, "Where was home, before?"
Dragon> Nymath bespoke Emeleth and Iesath with << You both outshine the moon and stars tonight. (dragons aren't subtle) >>
Auralia laughs, stretching one leg out onto the seat beside her, murmuring, "Boll. Well, just outside of it. Nice little cothold, with water, and therefore fish, everywhere. And kids, too. Mum was alwasy prolific."
Iesath> Nymath rumbles at the girl, whuffling curiously before attempting to move closer to Emeleth.
Iesath> Emeleth swings her head around peering towards the WeyrHall and rumbles again ever so softly.
Iesath> Sienna dislodges herself from Nymath as he starts to move with almost a pout. But, hey...theres Iesath..."Iiiiiisaaaaath!" She calls in a singsong voice and walks towards the dragon, arms wide open.
Iesath> Iesath raises an eyelid or two, glancing at Emeleth curiously, then nestles back, wings shuffling once more. She's not entirely restful, for all her evident weariness. Another eyelid opens, and she eyes Sienna. That's her name, don't wear it out. Blink, then again. Oh dear.
Alden quirks a smile. "There were only the four kids in my family, but my mother and father were both born at Hiliner, and all their siblings are there still, with all their kids... my grandparents and their siblings were born there as well- most of them- so it's gotten to be a pretty busy place compared to what it used to be, I guess."
Iesath> Maralita strides over from the Western Courtyard.
Auralia nods, sipping dolefully at her juice. "Too many. Shards -- I wish places didn't get so big. Or people didn't have so many children. 'though I guess it's pretty busy here, too."
Iesath> Maralita lops over, all grins and giggles.
Iesath> Leonette ees. "Sienna, please.." she says, attempting to catch Sienna /before/ she bugs the dragons... "She looks tired..." she adds. Meaning Iesath, though it applies to Sienna as well.
Iesath> Nymath siddles on up to Emeleth, flumping down with a sigh next to the green, only then eyeing the weyrhall curiously, then turning his gaze back to that green next to him.
Iesath> Sienna nearly trips on the dragons foreclaw, but catches onto the forearm, treating the newest object of her affections, treating the forearm much like Nymath's. Skritch, skritch, nuzzle nuzzle. "Yur warm, Iesath..." she grins. She doesn't really seem to hear Leo, as she's now humming a soft lullaby and rocking back and forth. "How's your rider, hmmmm? Auralia? Huh?" She giggles.
Alden nods in agreement. "Seems most places get that way. It's almost like ..." he thinks about it a second. "A net can only hold so many fish, but when you've hit a school and it's filling up, it seems like you can just get more and more and more fish, you'll enver run out of net. And then suddenly, it's too much. Just one more fish, and /riiiip/, the net's gone. That's what home felt like to me. Just one more person, and we'd burst at the weak spots."
Iesath> Emeleth looks back over at Nymath and whuffles him affectionately but turns her curious and quite awake eyes back toward the weyrHall. There's something ....
Iesath> Take out that 'treating the forearm' out!
Iesath> Maralita blinks, "Emeleth!"
Iesath> Iesath is being ignored by the dragons, and rushed at by the candidates. But scritched -- and that can't be bad. The green warbles thoughtfuly, turning her attention away, shifting towards the Weyrhall. That's right, Sienna's been jilted for a---stone hall.
Iesath> Sienna blinks and notices all the dragons staring at the Hall. "Y'smell something? Yeah, the food sorta smells good, don't it
Iesath> Nymath rumbles. -He- doesn't smell anything.
"Nice analogy -- is that the word?" Aura comments, with a nod. "You're right. It's--well, anyway, yeah. Not a good thing at all, in my opinion." She wiggles her legs about a little, resting them more comfortably, and leans back in her chair. "Ah -- juice, and my feet up, perfect."
Iesath> Leonette bites her lip, and gently starts unhooking Sienna's arms from Iesath. "C'mon now Sienna. You know that's rude..." She thinks fast. No you /never/ tell a kidlet that you're taking them to bed. And since that's about how Sienna's acting, she hmms. "Why don't we go get some...sweetrolls...and go back to the barracks, huh?"
Iesath> Tahliq strides over from the lush Lakeside Meadow.
Alden peers into the mug resting hap-hazardly in his lap and finds it - yup- still empty. Too much trouble. "I don't mind it so much when I can be outside, but in bad weather, or whenever everyone had to be cooped up inside, it was just.. I dunno. I felt like I couldn't breathe properly, that everyone was using up all the air."
Iesath> Sienna crosses her eyes at Leo and lets herself be unhooked. "Sweetrolls? /you/ like sweetrools. /I/ stuffed myself at the tunic dying thing!" She giggles and starts to go limp, flopping with her hands in Leo's/
Iesath> Emeleth turns back to whuffle Iesath this time. Never let it be said that she's rude.
Iesath> Maralita frowns, "Emeleth, don't you remember me?"
Auralia's expression hovers between being quietly understanding, and openly sympathetic. "Yes -- it was like that, for us, too. Tiny cothold, too many people. Shards, my cothold now is almost bigger than home." Exageration. She's good at them.
Iesath> Sienna adds after a pause, uncrossing her eys, realizing Leo called /her/ of all people rude. "I'm not ruuuude! I was skritchin 'em! They likes skritchin!"
Iesath> Emeleth looks down briefly and lets out a soft croon for Maralita before her attention is drawn away again. If only stone walls could talk.
Iesath> Iesath warbles towards Emeleth, returning the wuffle with a vague attention. But the walls... Walls: current obsession?
Iesath> Maralita peers, "What's going on in there, Eme? S'body you like, or something you wanna eat, or what?"
Alden nods. "The boats were even worse, and I was always seasick on top of it." He kicks one foot idly, thumping his heel against the side of his chair. "Definitely better here," he observes with a crooked grin.
Auralia laughs, nodding quietly. "You sound so much like me. But yes, definately much better here. Thank the shards I'll never have to go back."
Iesath> Leonette squeaks, and grabs hold of Sienna, afraid perhaps that she's about to collapse. "Okay...you weren't rude." she agrees. "But she didn't want to be skritched right now. She's sleepy." She looks around for something, then focuses her attention back on Sienna as she doesn't see whatever it is.
Iesath> Emeleth rumbles softly and sets her head down on the ground hunkering down eyes fixed on the hall.
Dragon> Emeleth bespoke Iesath with << Someone in there is interesting. >>
Iesath> I bespoke Emeleth with << Yes -- I saw it too. Not the walls...-Inside- the walls. >> She's vaguely curious; has she forgotten the last time she searched? << I cannot quite see it. But it smells near my rider. >>
Iesath> Sienna yawns, and begins to stumble towards...somewhere....
Iesath> Maralita goes over to Emeleth and reaches to put her arms around the great green's neck as far as they will go. "I wish I spoke dragon so all that crooning and warbling and headresting made sense."
Alden chuckles a little. "Well- they probably wouldn't take me back even if I wanted to, which I don't. Things seem so much... bigger, now." He frowns a little over that word, and tries again. "More- things to think about. To see, to do, to be."
Uinn strides over from the Western Courtyard.
A long, slow nod -- agreement, without words. No need for a yes, but it's there. Aura pauses, head shaking, muttering, "No, there's -no- fish in here. No runner dung, either, except what you dropped me in."
Uinn strolls into the hall, looking a bit mussy and sleepy-eyed. She shoots a look at Auralia, then the person she's talking to and hmphs slightly, "G'deve" she says and settles into a chair.
Iesath> Sienna looks at the dragons..."Nymath," she mutters. "Iesath," she whispers..."Emeleth!" She grins and todders towards the dragon, not even noticing Rnayth over there
Iesath> Emeleth warbles softly as Mara hits a good spot but still she peers at the WeyrHall.
Dragon> Emeleth bespoke Iesath with << It's not my rider. She is there now. There is something else. >>
Alden turns his head to look more directly at Auralia, curiously, then lifts a hand from his empty mug to greet Uinn. "Good evening."
Uinn makes a grumbly noise. "Yes, I'm awake ..." she murmurs and rubs at her eyes.
Auralia shrugs her shoulders with an eloquent, and rather exagerated movement. "I coulda sworn--" she says, rather loudly, something after that. But for the sake of being nice, it will go unnoticed. "Evening, Uinn. You look -- tired?" So does Aura, although she's becoming more animated.
Iesath> Leonette frown, "Sienna!" she says, throwing her hands up. Then those hands go to her hips, tapping her toe. What now?
Iesath> Maralita sighs, "Y'could tell me and I could go see if I could do something about whatever it is about those walls that amuse the three of you so much.."
Uinn yawns and scrubs at her face and peers at Alden. "Alden right? Seaholder lad with the close-spaces problem? Hmm." she blearily eyes Aura, "Aura," is all she says and leans back in her chair again, muttering under her breath. "No ... no I don't Em," seems to be the whole of it, or something like it anyway.
Iesath> Emeleth just rumbles eyes whirling in slow blue-green circles
Iesath> Sienna gets caught between a giggle and a sigh, and sort of lets out a croon as she decides to use Emeleth as a resting post. She leans against the dragon's side, and skritches for a moment. "Say hi to Uinn because I know Uinn, so say hi to Uinn because I know her," she states, her hed flopping back to rest against Emeleth's side, eyes squinty and red.
"Aura, yes, that's my name." The greenrider eyes the other greenrider, then shrugs. "Em bugging you, too? Seems to be a horrible occurance, around here. Something in the air? Moon sickness, perhaps. " Lunar-cy = Lunacy?
Alden is definitely sitting by a window, and he nods to Uinn. "It's better if they don't smeel like fish," he notes, in what might seem like a random comment.
Iesath> Emeleth lifts her head to peeer at Sienna. What is wrong with this one? But she passes on the greeting anyhow.
Iesath> Emeleth senses that Iesath would nod, if she could. Instead, a ripple of agreement. << Something else. That smells like -- fish. I want it to bring me fish. Because it does smell like fish. >> She likes fish.
Uinn yawns again and nods. "Said to come in here quick and ... wha? Oh hi Sienna," she mumbles, to sleepy to realize that Emeleth can't pass on her return greetings to whomeever it is that's out there in the landing field.
Dragon> Emeleth bespoke Iesath with << Fish. Yes. I see fish too. And water. They should bring it here. >>
Iesath> Leonette sighs, and watches Sienna. She quietly slides closer, trying to make sure the girl's really asleep before she tries anything.
Iesath> I bespoke Emeleth with << Yes! >> The answer, to life, the universe, and everything, is fish. And water. << Now, they should bring it -now-. >> A whine begins, meant for Aura, but--- << AURA! Now, please. >>
Iesath> Sienna yawns and glances skyward. "Carenath's tail, and um...um...ummmmmmmmuhmmmm..." she giggles and suddenly remembers what she's talking about. "Timor," she grins. "I used ta stay up all night and look at stars cuz, uh, I had to look at stars cuz I had to. And now I don't know when to sleeeeeeep!" She is suddenly thrown into a fit of giggles until....silence. Her head propped upon the dragon's side, her mouth suddenly turns into an 'o' and snores are emitted from the back of her throat as she falls into the deep sleep of one that is exhausted, and slides down Emeleth's side.
Iesath> Emeleth lifts her head suddenly and lets out a very definite rumble.
Dragon> Emeleth bespoke Iesath with << Yes. Now. Right now. UINN! >>
Uinn blinks twice and shakes her head at Aura. "You get that too?"
Iesath> Maralita frowns, "What's wrong, Eme?"
Iesath> Leonette frowns, and eyes Emeleth. Hmm. She gently picks up Sienna, and looks around. Time to go to the Barracks and Sienna's cot. Just pray that she doesn't wake up or something...
Iesath> Tahliq pushes her cloak to the side and tilts her head so the hood falls back to reveal her face. She offers a slight nod to anyone who notices her.
Iesath> Sienna snorts a little, and fidgets but then seems rather comfortable. She doesn't seem ready to wake for another sevenday-her normally peaceful sleeping expression is one of near comatose expression as she hangs limp.
Auralia blinks, raising her head. "All right, all right! I'm bloody well coming." A nod at Uinn, a frown. She looks around, then adds, "Alden. Iesa's--being Iesa. Will you come out with us, to share the joy?"
Uinn nods and slides reluctantly to her feet. "Mm. Em says that the 'moons are nice and the stars are bright, come now'" she snorts softly and slips her hands into her pockets.
Alden blinks. "Um," he replies, cleverly. "I guess."
Iesath> Leonette smiles, and trudges off toward the barracks. She'll be bahk! Oh...er...wrong line...
Alden looks kind of uncertain, as if all this oddity might be catching.
Auralia frowns. "Iesa said something about fish. About bringing fish. Don't think we have anything?" Hope we don't have any?
Iesath> Maralita snuggles against the green and hugs her a bit more, "Poor Eme, you have to put up with all sort, like being a pillow, and my dragon plushie, and all that."
Alden grimaces. "I definitely don't have any."
"I should hope not," agrees Aura, somewhat absently. "Come on, she won't wait."
You walk toward the Courtyard.
You walk toward the Landing Field.
Uinn walks over from the Western Courtyard.
Alden walks over from the Western Courtyard.
Emeleth lifts her head again as the riders and their companion come in. She croons again very softly.
Maralita looks up, "Ooh, it was someone in there, wasn't it?"
Alden follows along in the riders' wake, looking rather bemused. He's still carrying an empty mug.
Dragon> Emeleth bespoke Iesath with << That ... there, next to yours >>
Iesath emits a -loud- bugle, as they all arrive, almost prancing. She's an odd one, certainly. Definate lunacy at work.
Iesath> I bespoke Emeleth with << Yes! But it has no fish. I thought--perhaps it was something not there. >>
Emeleth sways a bit to and fro extending her neck toward the One with the Drinking Thing. She lets out a complimentary bugle to Iesath's
Uinn snorts softly. "Oh really Em? Disappointed that there's no fish? Sorry dearling ... how about a swim instead hmm?"
Auralia raises an eyebrow, glancing at Uinn. "Fish? And -- water? How peculiar." Mouth shuts again, and then widens. "Oh dear." It is then that she notices the others about, nodding a greeting. Tahliq gets a half-frown -- "Do I know you? Hi, anyway," as her attention is turned back to her lifemate, and then Uinn, then Alden. "Alden? Fancy a change in career path?"
Alden clutches the suddenly remembered mug to his chest and leans backward a little. "Um- Hello," he offers uncertainly to the large draconic head angling his way. He turns and blinks at Auralia. "Change in career?" he echoes distractedly, half his attention on the oddly behaving dragons.
Maralita whees, "I like your tastes, Eme and Iesath." she says softly.
Uinn nods at Alden "As long as you provide fish," she says, deadpan, while Emeleth peers more closely at Alden for a moment.
Iesath does? I mean, yes, of course she does! She bugles again, eyes whirling in cheerful exuberance. Aura smiles weakly. "Looks like Iesa and Em -like- you. Like you enough for --providing fish? Oh dear shards. Yes, they'd like you to stand, and give them fish."
Uinn yawns, "All right Em. I forgive you for rousting me out of bed, -this- time."
Iesath> Emeleth senses that Iesath sounds suitably smug. << He will provide fish and water, and all will be well. >>
Alden squints back at Emeleth, and then looks at Iesath. "Well- I guess I don't mind catching fish so much if someone else eats them..." he replies weakly. "Just no boats, alright?" he tells both greens. He looks from Auralia to Uinn, and then notices the others nearby. "I'd like that," he answers quietly, more to the dragons than to anyone else.
Maralita frowns, "How come I can't go out and fish? I like fishing.."
Dragon> Emeleth bespoke Iesath with << So he will. I like that. >>
Iesath knew he'd say that. Like, really she did. Smug, eyes whirling, talons pulled back out of the way. Oh, goodie. "Wonderful! We'll get you settled right in, then." Now that all this distraction is passed -- "How come you can't, Maralita--it is Maralita, isn't it?--? Because they didn't want fish from you." A shrug -- draconic logic, and all.
Alden rubs one hand over the top of his head, looking from one green to another. "That's an awful lot of fish," he observes.
Maralita frowns, "Well, alright..."
Uinn chuckles softly, "Don't worry about it Alden -- I'm sure you'll have help, after all we've lots and lots of Candidates to do chores, haven't we Maralita?"
Tahliq carefully looks between one and then the other of this little gathering. With a shrug to herself she reaches into her heavy cloak and tosses a fruit up and down a few times before bringing it close to take a bite, all the while simply observing.
Maralita nods, "Yeah, I guess, cuz nobody else lifts a finger round here, 'cept for during Fall.."
Auralia nods, quickly. Then frowns. "What do you mean by that, Maralita?" A coldness to her voice, although she spares another smile to Tahliq, waving her over, if she so wants to come and join them.
Alden looks at the mug in his hands in bafflement, then up again. "I wasn't quite done with the repairs on one of the cottages," he tells Uinn. "But I did finish with the gazebo. Should I -well- I guess I should tell the Steward?"
Uinn blinks "The cottages? Didn't we just fix those?" she murmurs, then nods, "Mm -- I'll let him know, go on ... Aura's got some things to tell you," she grins at Auralia, mostly awake now and then fixes a look on Maralita. "You'd better watch that tongue of yours Maralita, or Aithne will have you scrubbing the WeyrHall floor with a smallbrush every night until the Hatching"
Maralita takes a step back, "It's ture! Everyone waist and puts everything off for a few weeks before the Candidates come in, and then make them do everything, even the riders who act like they can't do nuthin' even though they all did the same things as us as Canidates."
Auralia blinks, nodding to Alden, "Welcome, and all that. You were a candidate once before, weren't you? Tiarnath's, ages back. So you know the drill? Fairly simple, and whatnot." She pauses in this, to comment to Maralita, "Not true. We all have a lot of duties. I spend most of every day flying sweeps, and then doing hide work. And a lot of hidework. We all do our own things, and you will darn well know it."
Tahliq slowly makes her way over, still taking small bites out of the fruit. She offers a slight nod to all again and says, "Ho, and greetings to you each." Wiping her mouth free of the juices, that the fruit seems to have in such abundance.
Alden smiles at Uinn, still looking mightily distracted. "Well, one or another is always needing something done, it seems like..." He nods to Auralia's question. "With Aithne and Niare- that bunch," he affirms.
Uinn just arches an eyebrow at Maralita and then grins at Alden ..."Ah yes ... so you were ... pardon me, I'm still a bit muddle headed." A nod for Tahliq then and she steps over to scritch Emeleth's still extended muzzle. The green croons then, happily and settles into the scritching
Leonette walks in, and frowns as she overhears a part of the conversation between Maralita and Auralia. Oh she does /not/ put things off until the Candidates come in. There'd be quite a few less youngsters around if she did. She decides, however, to ignore it, and hovers around the edge of the landing field, looking around again, perhaps trying to find something..
"Do I know you," begins Auralia, towards Tahliq, welcoming smile on her face. Attention is turned; it's -hard- having three conversations at once. "Any questions, then, Alden? Or shall we just drag you candidate barracks-wards now?"
Maralita snorts, "When was the last time you sewed someone else's laundrey? When was the last time /you/ had to scrub the sharding WeyrHall with a smallbrush?" she frowns, "It's not fair and you darn well know it!"
Auralia ahems. "Do you want to protect Pern from thread, then? Do you want--Oh, I give up. This is not my job. But I promise, we do more than our share." This towards Maralita, of course.
Alden waves one hand in a small negative motion. "I ah- maybe I should go find a cot or something..." he trails off, eyeing Maralita warily.
Maralita shrugs, "Fine, whatever. I'll do my regular chores, but forget scrubing the WeyrHall floor because I'm a bit hyper and Aithne hates my sharding guts!"
Tahliq blinks a few times, and shrugs her shoulders. "I'm not sure, I don't believe so." Tone quite neutral and careful as she eyes Auralia, and then all the others present.
Maralita walks toward the Western Courtyard.
Auralia glances after Maralita, scowling. "Good for her. I think Aithne's a perfect judge of character." She stands up a little straighter, exhuming a smile on Tahliq. "Ah-hah. Name's Aura -- Weyrsecond, here. And you are?" Glance at Alden, grin, "Grab your things, then?"
Uinn ignores Maralita, too wrapped up in scritching Emeleth. She noted her comments though, because she shakes her head a bit and sighs. "Trouble that one ..." she murmurs. Then she forces herself to look back at Alden, "Congratulations Alden ... and welcome to the new Candidate group."
Alden stares after Maralita. "Um- thanks... I think..." he gathers himself together and nods. "I'll just go fetch my clothes and stuff. Should I meet you at the barracks, or...?"
Leonette peers after maralita. "Hmm...I didn't think Aithne hated /anyone's/ shardin' guts." It's a Leo-parrot. Not that she really pays any attention to Maralita anyhow. She decides the girl is perhaps just trying to get out of chorse or something, and so goes back to whatever she was doing before.
Uinn lets out another yawn and leans against Emeleth. "I think I'm going back to bed ... go for a swim if you'd like Em. And Leo ... you're absolutely right. Aithne disciplined her with reason." With that, she casts a wave at Aura. "Good night" and strides back to her weyr.
Uinn strides over to the Western Courtyard.
Tahliq thumbs to herself after a moment. "The name is Tahliq. Pleasure to meet you." She says, and goes to take yet another bite of the slowly dwindling fruit. "May I ask what is going on?" Her voice is more than just curious, but she hides it well enough.
Auralia nods; "Do that, Alden. I will see you there, soon." She grins towards Tahliq, explaining, "Well met, of course. Um, Iesath and Emeleth just searched Alden here, for Araneth's clutch that is on the sands. We're heading for the barracks -- care to join us? A place most people don't see of the Weyr."
Alden nods and rubs at the back of his neck as he wanders off toward the cottage where his things are, still carrying that empty mug.
Tahliq likes that, though again she schools her expression into a neutral one. "I'd love to. Your.. kind to offer." Inclining her head again as she finishes off the fruit.
Alden walks toward the Western Courtyard.
Auralia smiles, stepping towards the Lakeside Meadow. "Oh, you're quite welcome. What brings you to Southern, anyway? Planning on staying?" She does chatter, when she's so inclined.
You walk toward the Lakeside Meadow.
You walk over to the Candidate Barracks.
Tahliq shrugs her shoulders. "Had some busy I needed to do, over at the Smithies." Thumbing in that general direction. "Though the accomodations there are less than the best, so I figured I'd find a place around here to stay for a few days before heading out again."
Alden is carrying a smal bundle of clothes and a wherhide toolbelt. He seems to have rid himself of the mug, somewhere.
Auralia leads the way magnanimously, spreading out an arm, "Welcome to the barracks. Lovely place, aren't they? Grab a cot, Alden. You know the drill." She nods cheerfuly towards Tahliq, "Ah -- welcome. Sure you'd rather not stay?" She seems intent on it, for no real reason.
Alden nods and walks down the double row of cots til he finds an empty one. He open a press, finds it already taken, and opens the press on the other side of the bed, stuffing his few things inside. "HOw many are there now?" he wonders, squinting down the length of the barracks.
Tahliq shrugs her shoulders again. "I don't see why I would, after all.. no reason too." She wiggles her nose a bit, and allows her eyes to take in the scope and lay of the place. She moves around a bit, touching this and that.
"Lots." Aura shrugs -- "No idea how many. Too many, most likely." Not that -that's- ever likely. "Oh, Tahliq? Where will you go, then?"
Tahliq places her hands into her cloak for a few moments, as she comes to a stop with her back to Auralia. Soon she turns around. "Not sure exactly yet. The business I finished up, has left me pretty much, without anything else at the moment."
Alden goes over to check the list of chores, just to see what he's most likely to be doing the next day. After a minute he turns back around, listening curiously to the others.
"Any questions, Alden?" Aura does manage to keep her eye on this new candidate, doing her job, and all. "Oh?" This to Tahliq, with a long nod. "I see. You travel, even during thread?"
Alden smiles and shrugs. "Well- I guess I'll find out who I'm doing chores with, in the morning."
Tahliq shakes her head to Auralia. "I'm not foolish," She says slowly. "My trips are short. From place to place. I'm not going to risk being out in fall." She nods her head slowly and starts to wander back to the womans side.
Auralia issues a nod towards Alden, "I reckon so." Lips quirk into a smile, "Ah--of course. Smart of you. I assume you've found the guest cottage? Settled in for the night, or whathaveyou?" Tahliq's direction.
Tahliq shakes her head and admits, "Haven't had the chance. Actually." She pulls a peice of cheese from out of her cloak and begins to chew on that. "Been helping myself, to some food and drink. It's nice to not have to worry about it, to much. The generousity of the Weyr and all." Her lips quirk into an amused smile, as if the idea of just giving food away was humorous to her.
Tahliq is looking at you.
Alden settles into a seat next to one of the tables in the middle, folding his arms across the table and resting his chin on them as he peers at Tahliq.
"That's what we do," agrees Auralia, "Give away food." She stiffles a yawn. "My jacket. Back in the Weyrhall. I better go get it. Good luck, Alden! And--have a good stay, Tahliq." She turns, wandering out.
Long distance to Alden: Auralia checks quick-like: Any questions? You know all the rules, and whatnot?
Alden lifts his head and waves to Auralia. "Good night, and thanks."
You walk toward the Lakeside Meadow.
